Doug away May 23 until mid-June

I was hoping to hold off on making this announcement until about two weeks until Memorial Day weekend. But, with plans moving a bit faster than I'd planned, it's best I note this now.

First, I'll be away from NGC May 26th until further notice. I'm making a move across town. My future home is roughly a half hour away from where I live currently.

However, I've been at my current home for a decade and change. I've already moved a good bit of items from "the old place" to "the new place" -- while donating other items I won't need to good causes. Between now and May 26, I'm afraid more and more of my free time will be devoted to making this move.

I was hoping to start a new game of Second Chance and/or Chain Reaction -- or still leave them on the proverbial back burner and start another special ep of The Name's The Same. But, my bed, furniture, appliances and other big items won't sprout wheels and move themselves.

So the plan between now and May 26th is this: Finish the second half of On A Roll, help other hosts as much as I can on other projects and -- oh yeah -- pack.

NGC moved forward during Tony's unforeseen and long absence. NGC will move forward as I ease into an extended absence -- and then take a break from this board of a few weeks starting in late May to complete the move. Depending on when the internet connection is "turned on" at "the new place", I'm looking at a return of early to mid-June.

Crag, Chain and Chance will be like a much more famous Douglas. They shall return. So shall I.

Not sure if you'd want a substitute host for "Chain Reaction".  If so, let me know, I should be able to pinch hit for you for an episode or two if you want/need.

UPDATE: May 12

Greetings, all.  The plans for the relocation are coming into focus.

Virtually no change.  I'll be away from NGC two weeks from tonight.  Then it's on to moving northward. 

Still eyeing a return of mid-June to NGC.  Along the way, a change in ISP is necessary.  A change in hardware will happen sooner or later.

UPDATE: May 17

Friends, moving plans are changing a bit. And with that, unfortunately, my time off from NGC has to start a little earlier than anticipated.

The only activity I'm hosting is the On A Roll audience game test thread in the workshop. I'm looking to wrap that up by May 23.

Between May 23-26 inclusive, I'll be able to check messages and, if necessary, host the aforementioned OAR thread in the morning and during my lunch break. Beyond that, work and the move beckon.

UPDATE: June 2

Greetings from the fifth dimension. Curse Mayor Adam West for making me say my name backwards.

Okay, now to the facts. My move is better than 85% complete.

I've run into a snag setting up my internet connection at home. (FWIW, I'm typing this from the radio stations where I work part time to catch up on projects.)

Due to the snag and the seemingly endless sea of boxes I'm opening from my previous place of residence, it may be another week or two before I'm able to host and play.

UPDATE: June 5

Due to an unfortunate circumstance, there's been a snag in my return. Fellow moderators know why. In the interest of keeping this a positive update, it's best not to say anything further regarding why.

After I jump over this hurdle, my unofficial plan is to start a new ep of MG-HSH with Tony. The games I host solo (Crag, $40K CR, On A Roll, Second Chance) will follow after the MG in MG-HSH concludes.

Material's been written and graphics, eventually, will be made. Just need an on-ramp from the new digs to NGC and we're good to go.

My song's running out at the radio stations. Back to work!

UPDATE: June 8

Greetings, all. My NGC comeback is going to be slow and steady.

For me, Second Chance is the easiest game to host from a remote location; setting up is easy. $40K CR would be the next easiest to set up and host from a remote location. I’ll probably be hosting from remote locations through at least the next week and a half.

MG-HSH, Crag and On A Roll remain on hold until further notice.

UPDATE: June 12

Last update -- I hope. Internet service will be hooked up at the new place this Saturday, 6/18.

Second Chance is starting now. Chain Reaction will soon follow. MG-HSH, Crag and OAR will follow.

Nice to see light at the end of the tunnel -- would that it's not from an oncoming train.
