First time playing the sum... (A.J. touches screen) ...and it's a G. Kourtney, that was the last roll of the round. You're still entitled to a guess of the top row's clue.

On to another name game. So, the dice are up for grabs with this... (FF reveal sfx)...seven-letter name game. Here's the clue. Honestly, he got on a roll -- when he was elected America's 16th President. (ding)(Kourtney and Jonathan, please PM me your answer and a buzz code from 1-100.)

(Sorry for the unintended delay. Thought for sure I posted this last night.) (Kourtney buzzes in) Kourtney? Kourtney: Lincoln is the man. (dings; audience applause) That's it. Honest Abe -- Abraham Lincoln. (Laura hands Kourtney the dice as he steps into the box) He looks confident and can't wait to get back on a roll. (Kourtney rolls)First roll of the round -- a 5 and a 1... ...or a 6.

(TPiR Pathfinder wrong move sfx)Good guess with just a few letters showing. But the unfriendly buzzer says "no". You're still on a roll, though. (Kourtney rolls)And it's a 3 and a 6 or a 9. Threes are still history -- but you may take any 6 or any 9. (scattered giggles from the crowd) Yeah, I hear you snicker. Get the minds out of the gutters, please crowd.

(A.J. touches screen) (pause) (Doug chuckles) I had to stop and think what you meant by "let's uses a 9 second clue". For a moment I thought we were going to show you an entire clue for nine seconds. (scattered laughter from the crowd) But, A.J., you did right. The 9 on the second row was hiding an O. Now, Kourtney, would you like to guess the middle clue or roll again?

(dings; audience applause) There ya go. Second try on the second row's the charm. Now, Kourtney, you have a chance to solve the puzzle *and* win the match automatically. If you're right, you get to play for that Hawaiian vacation again plus a potential $120,000. If you're wrong, you're still on a roll. So -- based on that second clue and the parts of the first clue you took in earlier rolls, what's the solution to the puzzle?

Is it THE AMAZING RACE?

Post by dougmorrisontheair on May 4, 2016 22:01:45 GMT -5
(audience cheers) For the game -- and the match -- is it -- "The Amazing Race"? (dings; SCSD win theme plays; audience cheers) Nailed it. Kourtney, congratulations. You've just won your fourth match. You'll try for a lot of money and that Hawaii vacation in a bit. First, let's reveal the clues. The first row had to be the name of the host of the show. (FF reveal sfx) Phil Keoghan -- rhymes with Hogan. Seems like his last name's been uttered once in a blue moon on the race. They call him just Phil or, as fans like to say, the Philiminator. And the last clue, detour, often pops up throughout the race. Well, Jonathan, I'm afraid it's back to the Dicecapades for you. We also have some fine gifts waiting for you backstage. That's where you're headed with Laura after you take all this applause. Nice hand for Jonathan. (audience cheers) Kourtney, you know what's happening here. Since you've already won both games in the match, you play Lucky 7 for the money roll's value at $10,000 a point instead of $5000. It's okay if you throw doubles on the money roll. Show me boxcars -- and $120,000 will be on the line in Lucky 7. Good luck -- and give 'em a roll. (Kourtney rolls) (audience cheers) TEN!!! Call your maw, call your paw, call your friends in Arkansas! Kourtney's playing for $100,000 after this! (theme plays; audience cheers) (theme plays)

And we're back. We're going to try to save some extra time at the end of our show for an audience game. So, Kourtney, we're going to dive right into Lucky 7. Wally's giving you some encouragement as well as the sums to clear in Lucky 7 and the tokens you've already earned for the getaway game. One of the three tokens comes from solving the puzzle, the second for solving the puzzle with one clue fully exposed and the third token comes from sweeping the match. You could get a fourth and final token with a wild roll of 3 or 11. Meantime, if you can clear all seven sums, look right into the camera and tell us how much money you'll earn.

(audience cheers)We're all rooting for you now -- since you've swept the match. Good luck and go get that hundred-grand, Kourtney -- because you -- are on a roll. (audience cheers as Kourtney gets on a roll) (Kourtney rolls)And 6 and 3 make the 9 go bye-bye. (ding) Five bills down, only $99,500 to go. Roll 'em again, please. (Kourtney rolls) And the 4 and 2 will clear out the 6. (ding) Up to a $1000. So far, so good. (Kourtney rolls) Well -- that's still good. (ding) $50 good -- but good nonetheless. Still on a roll. That's what's import. (Kourtney rolls)(burst of cheers) Yes! A 10. (ding) Four sums away from $100,000. Come on, Kourtney. You can do it! (Kourtney rolls) (audience groans) (buzz) Guh! First double. First strike. All right. Still need to roll a 4, 5, 7 and 8, not necessarily in that order while avoiding doubles, for $100,000. Good luck, Kourtney. (Kourtney rolls) (audience groans) (buzz) Doubles again! Wally's channeling his inner Jack Benny. (scattered laughter from the crowd) Kourtney, think you can avoid that third strike and get that hundred-thou?

Good way to look at it. Let's lose those four remaining numbers, Kourtney. Good luck. You're still on a roll. (audience cheers as play resumes) (Kourtney rolls)There we go. There goes the 7. (ding) Getting closer to $100,000. Try it again, Kourtney. (Kourtney rolls)Another 7. (ding) $50 more. Looking for a 4, 5 or 8. (Kourtney rolls)(burst of cheers) There's a 5. (ding) Just the 4 and 8 are left. Come on, Kourtney, you can do it. (Kourtney rolls)There's an 8. (ding) And *now*. (alarm goes off) Lowest scorer gets yanked off the air. (scattered laughter from the crowd) Only kidding -- although I have a guest-starring role with Jon Darrall on "Remote Control". Kourtney, you know what's happening here. You have up to five rolls to roll a 4 -- and you have to do it naturally. You also have two strikes against you. So the shutdown could come sooner. Show me a 3 on one cube and a 1 on the other -- and I'll show you a check for $100,000. That simple. Good luck and get that money, Kourtney. (audience cheers as Kourtney continues) (Kourtney rolls)There's an 6. (ding) $3150. Four rolls to go. (Kourtney rolls)That's a 7. (ding) Three rolls left. (Kourtney rolls)Argh! (buzz; NYSI89 losing horns; audience groans) Yes, Wally, Kourtney was done in by the square pair. Can't give you $100,000. But you do have $3200. (audience applause) And now -- another try at that great Hawaiian holiday. Wally, please set up the getaway game. (FF reveal sfx) There we go. Kourtney, as before, Wally's randomly hidden the word "trip" in one of the seven numbered screens. Cover the number that hides the trip -- and you're off to Hawaii. You have three tokens. So -- all at once -- please pick three numbers.

Let's go with even numbers: 2,4,6

|
Post by dougmorrisontheair on May 6, 2016 21:35:42 GMT -5
Very well. Wally, please cover all the even numbers. (ding) Heh, channeling our inner Heart? (a few laughs from the crowd) Line going over a lot of heads, I see. Thanks for making me feel old! (more laughs from the crowd) For the younger generations, Heart's a great band. "Even It Up" is the title of one of their hits. Okay, with that, let's see, Kourtney, if two tickets to paradise are attached to 2. (buzz) (audience groans) Sorry. Not there. Don't worry. We've still got two to go. Maybe 4 will send you to Hawaii. (buzz) (audience groans) Maybe not. Well, Kourtney, it's either Hawaii for $1500 in consolation cash from Wally's getaway game. Would that it's the former. Come on, Wally, let's see a trip in number 6? (buzz; NYSI89 losing horns; audience groans) Nope. Obviously, the trip number was one of the odd numbers. Which one, Wally? (FF reveal sfx)Number 1 was the one to go to. We'll, if you win a game on the next show, you'll try this again. For now, you pick up another $500 for each token you played -- for the aforementioned $1500 consolation prize. Wally, please give us Kourtney's new total. (FF reveal sfx)(audience cheers)$157,835. Now, Kourtney, there *is* a touch of bad news. Your next show will be your fifth appearance. You'll then retire from the show win or lose. But if you sweep the next match, you'll have a chance to win that Hawaiian vacation and more that $200,000 in cash before we say farewell. But, before we wrap this show up, we've got time for an audience game. On A Roll returns -- right after this. (theme plays; audience cheers)

Sounds like a nice full life you lead, Bill. Nice to have you on this game show -- where you could win this. (trip music plays) Tiffany: Bill, get ready for an amazing fiesta in Mexico. (audience cheers) You and a guest will spend six nights at a luxurious hotel located just minutes from Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. We've also included a ziplining and rock climbing tour of Boca De Cierro National Park. The accomodations, tour and airfare are compliments of Club Universe -- and it's all worth $7350. (audience cheers)
A trip worth more than $7000. But today, it's all yours for the low price of 200 Mexican pesos. Bill, did you bring any Mexican currency with you today?

(scattered laughter from the crowd) Annnnnd that's "Face The Nation" for today. Now back to "On A Roll". Bill, here's how you earn 200 pesos. Since you're playing for a trip to Mexico, you'll play our version of the dice game Mexico. Best way to explain is to have Laura roll the dice. Laura, please give 'em a roll. Laura: Okay. *No* doubles! (Laura rolls) Doug: And -- great roll. A 5 and a 3. Now, Bill, in just about any dice game -- including our main and bonus games of On A Roll -- that roll is worth a total of 8. But not in Mexico. That's actually worth 53 pesos. You see, we take the higher of the two numbers, a 5 in this case; multiply it by ten pesos to get 50 pesos. We then take the lower number in the roll, a 3; multiply that number by one peso to reach the total of 53 pesos. Laura: 53 pesos wont buy a cocktail in Cabo, right? (scattered laughter from the crowd) A.J.: Yeah, it's worth about three bucks. Doug: 'Tis true, ladies. Now, Bill, you're going to start from scratch. Every time you avoid doubles, you'll earn pesos toward the goal of 200. Reach 200 or more -- and you'll buy that vacation for 200 pesos. But -- and there's a reason Laura exclaimed "no doubles" earlier -- if you do throw doubles, the game's over and you lose everything. So, after a good roll, I'll give you a chance to bail out at ten American dollars for each Mexican peso you have. *One* more thing. Mexico's Declaration of Independence was ratified in the year 1821. So, if you roll the last two digits of that year -- a 2 and a 1, not necessarily in that order -- we'll automatically augment your score to 200 pesos and send you off to Mexico. (audience cheers)
So -- good luck Bill -- because you are on a roll. (Bill rolls) (audience cheers)
And -- great start -- 64 pesos. Now, if you're fearing the next roll's a double, I'll let you stop right now and trade in the 64 pesos for $640 in American funds. Roll again or stop? (audience shouts suggestions)
