The original Dis or Dat from the mind of Bob Stewart. Three On A Match :-) What follows is the rules, suggestions and comments are welcome.
Three players compete to match prizes on the Prize Board to make "Three On A Match"
Qualifying: Before an "episode" of Three On A Match begins, there will be a qualifying period of two days. A question with a numerical answer will be posted and players will be asked to reply with their answer. The three players (two if we have a returning champion), that are closest to the correct answer, will be the players for that episode.
Gameplay: The three players will be showed a set of three categories like the following:
The first two categories are always about a specific subject. The third is always general trivia but could be literally about anything.
The three players via private message will choose how many true or false questions, from as little as one to as many as five, they believe they can answer correctly.
Once all three players have locked in their bids, they will be revealed in the main game thread and the highest bid earns the right to select a category and try to complete their bid. TIE BIDS CANCEL EACH OTHER. For example if two players bid 4 questions, and the odd player bids 2 questions. The 4 questions bid cancel each other and the player that bid 2 questions earns the right to choose the category.
The value of the round is determined by the total amount of questions bid times 100. I.E. A total of 8 questions bid means the round is worth $800.
One category in each round is a bonus category that could be "One Free Box", "Two Free Boxes", or "Double Pot". This will be revealed once the category is chosen.
The player that chooses the category must complete their bid to earn the money in the pot. If that player fails, the 2nd highest bidder will choose one of the remaining categories and attempt to complete their bid. If there was a tie bid, the tied players will get one more chance to bid. If the players have another tie, the round is over and three new categories are presented.
If a player completes their bid, they have a choice to make. Provided they have at least $1,200 in their bank or have earned free boxes via a bonus, they may attempt to go to the Prize Board and make Three On A Match to win the game, or decline going to the board and try to build up their bank. Free boxes that are earned via a bonus must be used immediately or they are lost.
Prize Board: The Prize Board is a board of 12 boxes arranged in three columns of four boxes each.
The boxes in the left column cost $300, the middle column $400, and the right column $500. Hidden in each column are four prizes. The player that is in control of the prize board chooses which box they would like revealed by saying the amount and the color of the box. Example "Red $400". The contents of said box are revealed, and provided the player still has money, continues to buy boxes off the board until they have uncovered three like prizes, one in each column "Three On A Match", winning the game, the player runs out of money, or Three On A Match becomes impossible to make with the money the player has left in their bank.
A player may buy no more than three boxes in any column, this is to prevent a player from saving enough money in their bank to buy all boxes available.
Once a player has finished at the board, if their turn did not produce Three On A Match, the prizes are reshuffled on the board, and a new round of questions is started.
The player that makes "Three On A Match" first, wins the game, whatever money they have left in their bank, and the chance to play the bonus round for a possible $50,000.
If any player makes "Three On A Match" with their first three picks at the Prize Board, that player wins the Triple Play Jackpot which starts at $10,000 and $2,500 is added to it each game it goes unclaimed.
Bonus Round: The player will be showed three more categories and must choose one. Five questions in that category will be asked, each worth $500, for a possible $2,500. Bonuses are also hidden behind one category just like the main game, the bonus for the category is out of play if a player fails to answer all 5 questions correctly.
Once all questions have been answered, the player goes to the prize board to try and win the big bucks. Behind each column of boxes is $10,000, $15,000, $20,000, and $25,000. The player's goal is to make "Three On A Match" before running out of money. Success wins that player the value of their "Three On A Match". If the player makes Three On A Match in their first three picks, that player wins $50,000.
If the player fails to get Three On A Match, the player chooses three of the boxes they bought, behind each of them is a mini box with an amount of money from $50 up to $2.500. The value of the three mini boxes is added together and awarded to the contestant as a consolation prize.
All three players then compete in the 2nd game of the "episode", and one more bonus round is played. The player that wins the most money in the bonus round is declared the champion and comes back on the next episode to play again.
