Well, my friends, it's time to sign up for the third of the five shows that the Shack is rolling out this year. This time, we're debuting my version of America's Game, Wheel of Fortune! As I promised, it will be a mix of the old and new elements from the real show. Both the classic and current music will be used here, as well as the Toss-Ups and Bonus categories. Also, we've designated each of the first three rounds this way:
FIRST ROUND--JACKPOT: The jackpot will start at $5,000 for each new episode, and increase by the amount spun on the wheel. To win the jackpot, the player must land on the designated space, call a correct letter and then solve the puzzle successfully without spinning any further.
SECOND ROUND--MYSTERY: Two special wedges will be placed on the wheel, each worth $1,000. If a player lands on one of these spaces and calls a letter that's in the puzzle, he can then decide whether to flip the wedge over or accept the $1,000 for each appearance of that letter. One of the wedges will have a Bankrupt on the reverse side, and the other $10,000 cash. In order for the player to keep the $10,000 cash prize, he must solve the puzzle successfully and not hit any Bankrupts along the way.
THIRD ROUND--VAULT: Same as the Jackpot, but it will start at $10,000 and increase by any amount that is lost to Bankrupt during this round. To claim the money in the Vault, the player must land on the center slot (on one edge will be Lose a Turn, and on the other edge Bankrupt) and call a letter correctly. The Vault can be claimed more than once, as it will continue to increase by the money lost to Bankrupt even after it has been previously claimed, until someone solves the puzzle.
Sorry, I will not do the Express at this point, but I will have the Million-Dollar Wedge available to go. And also, the new Power wedge will be available in the first three rounds, and it will allow anyone who successfully calls a letter to steal the earnings of the leader (or the second-place player if the leader lands on it). The top dollar values will be $2,500 in Round 1, $3,500 in Round 2, $5,000 in Round 3 and $7,500 in Round 4. Also, the bonus for correctly answering a Bonus question (which will occur after Clue, Fill in the Blank, Where are We? and similar puzzles) is $3,000.
There will be a returning champions rule where players can appear on up to three consecutive shows.
And one more thing: The personnel now includes Erin Harris as the announcer and Vanna White as the cohost. I wanted to involve Erin in all five shows as either the host or announcer, and I'm so glad that I was able to pull it off. My apologies to Jim Thornton, who's not doing too bad a job on the real show, although I will tell you that he's no Charlie O'Donnell!
So now that we have all that out of the way, we'll need three players to join in the fun. Who's going for a spin?
