And now, we commence the pilot for Second Chance, a new version of the series that served as a the prequel to PYL. As you take a look at the rules at www.DougMorris.net/sc , you'll see this game combines elements of SC and its two predecessors. We're seeking three players. And if you're one of the three players who comes the closest to our qualifying question, you're in the pilot. Here's the query. On July 1, 2012, at 10:30am Central, we watched a GSN rerun of "The Newlywed Game"; this episode was hosted by Sherri Shepherd. How many points were scored by the three couples in this episode? Please respond in increments of 5 points.

Okay, let's see the right answer, first. Set piece from another Jim Peck show on ABC? Anyhoo, the winning couple had 60 points; the other couples tied at 55. Who's the closest? 115 mringgenbergMatt Ringgenberg. All right, next closest? 80 Billy GardellBilly Gardell. Well, he's got free time now that "Mike & Molly" is nearing its swan song. And for the first time at NGC, I ask -- who's the third closest? 60 TwentingtonEvan Hatfield. Thanks to all for playing. Gentlemen, Random.org is putting Matt in the first podium, Evan in the middle and Billy in the third and final podium. So, let's pause for station identifcation and we'll get the show on the road.
KABC LOS ANGELES Staff announcer: ABC 7 -- number one for news and information in the Southland. (opening theme) (camera takes wide shot of studio -- eventually zooming in on big board) Doc Holiday: Hollywood's most exciting game is back -- bigger and better than ever. It's time to go for big bucks on the all new... ...Second Chance! (audience cheers)And now here's our host -- who gives everyone a second chance -- Doug Morris! (audience cheers)Thank you, Doc, and hellooooooo, everybody. We are delighted to bring Second Chance back to ABC. Throughout this sneak preview, our three contestants...
[ MATT ] [ EVAN ] [ BILLY ] < < 0 > > < < 0 > > < < 0 > > [ ] [ ] [ ] [ ] [ ] [ ] [ ] [ ] [ ]
.... Matt Ringgenberg, Evan Hatfield and Billy Gardell could be getting a lot of second chances. But only one will emerge victorious, keep all the money scored and become champion. Players, we're going to dive right into the first half of play. It's a round we call Around The Horn. On this first part of the half, we'll go down the line from Matt to Billy. (board spins)When it's your turn, you may take the first of two spins on our big Second Chance game board. It's loaded with thousands of dollars in cash plus surprises. On the first spin -- your assured of making money. And all you have to do to make money is push your button and say -- STOP! (ding)Just like I did -- $1250. Now, if this were you, you'd have the choice of ending your turn and taking the $1250 -- or decline it for your final spin of your turn. That's the second chance in this part of the game. (board spins)If you do take a second chance in this half, it *will* come with a risk -- because the bust spaces will be active. Anytime you land on a bust in this game -- STOP! (FF strike buzz)That what it will sound like, the audience will groan, your score will be reduced to zero dollars -- and you'll pick up a letter in the word "bust". Collect all four "bust" letters -- and you'll be eliminated from the game. Oh, by the way, you may remember we had devils in those spaces. We sent them to Hell -- where they belong! (audience laughs and applauds)Two more things and I'll quit my yappin'. The question mark spaces represent mystery amounts of cash. The "big bucks" space represents anything from $3000 to $5000. (board spins)Matt, by the random assignment, you're up first. This first spin comes without penalty. So when you're ready -- stop the board. (Matt, please respond with "STOP" and a letter from A to O inclusive.)

Now, on a future trip around the horn in this half, if you hit a mystery space and it leads to "add a one", you'll have at least $15,000. That is unless Billy finds it first. (board spins)Billy, if he hit us up for five large, who's to say you can't? (Billy, please respond with "STOP" and a letter from A to O inclusive.)

All right -- everyone's in the chips after one trip around the horn. Remember, the player with the most cash at the end of this half will have an advantage going into the second half. Player with the most money at the end of the game keeps it all and returns to defend his championship. Now, we're starting our second trip around the horn -- starting with Evan, continuing with Billy and ending with Matt. (board spins)Evan, the board's spinning for you. Let's see how much you'll add to your $5000 -- if anything. Evan, please respond with "STOP" and a letter from A to O inclusive.)

Now, Matt, you're currently $3225 shy of second place; much further behind first. We still have one trip around the horn to go -- which start right after your turn. So -- do you want to play it safe and double your score to 1600 -- or risk it all for a second chance? (audience shouts suggestions) (Matt, if you want the second chance, please respond with such intent and then a "STOP" letter from A to R inclusive.)

After two trips around the horn, Evan still leads. This is the third and final trip around the horn. Time to see who finishes in first place. Billy, we start with you. (board spins)(Billy, please respond with "STOP" and a letter from A to O inclusive.)
