Thank you very much. Welcome to Sale Of The Century, everyone. I know you're all used to Cameron being in the host's chair, but he has decided to leave the program to pursue other interests. So we wish him the best of luck in his future career. Now in terms of our game, we have a new champ with us and we also have some splendid prizes up for grabs like we always do. But first, I'd like to meet my new co-host, Karina Brown. (Karina comes out from behind the Fame Game board) Hello there, lovely Karina. Karina: Hello yourself. So a little birdie told me that you're the new host of Sale Of The Century. Me: That's absolutely correct, and I'm very excited to be here. Karina: I'll bet. Would you like to meet our players? Me: I'd love to do that. Who do we have first? Karina: Our first player this evening is Kourtney Wilson. This is Kourtney's second night with us and he is risking $10,868 worth of prizes. Me: Welcome back to the program, Kourtney. How do you think you can handle the pressure of being the returning champ?

It's going to be a bit tougher defending than unseating. However, I will do my very best.

Well let's hope you can find a job. All right then gents, let's begin our little contest here. $20 for each of you to start off. (ding) $5 profit for a right answer, $5 deduction for a wrong answer. Here's the first set of questions for the three of you.
1) In what year was the first Rose Bowl game played? 2) What city is the largest inland city in Australia? 3) What's the postal code of Bondi Beach? 4) What news magazine television series debuted in 1981?
(Buzzcodes and answers due in my PM box no later than 10am Eastern January 4th)

(Everyone's PMs are in, so let's find out how well you guys did) In what year was the first Rose Bowl game played? (Buzzcode: 42; Billy rings in) Billy. Billy: 1902 Me: Right for the first $5 of the game. What city is the largest inland city in Australia? (buzzcode: 30; Kourtney rings in) Kourtney this time. Kourtney: Alice Springs Me: Wrong, Canberra. What's the postal code for Bondi Beach? (Buzzcode: 20; Billy rings in) Billy. Billy: 2026? Me: Absolutely right! What news magazine television series debuted in 1981? (Buzzcode: 68; Kourtney rings in) Kourtney. Kourtney: Entertainment Tonight Me: And you gain back the $5 you previously lost.
Kourtney: $20 Billy: $30 Darion: $20
And that brings us to the first gift shop of the night. Billy, as you lead both of your fellow competitors by $10 each, you get a chance to buy a splendid prize from Karina. Karina: It's an Apple iPhone. The 16 gigabyte iPhone 6S includes 3D touch screen, 12 megapixel camera with noise reduction, fingerprint ID sensor and a one year calling plan that includes 4 gigabytes of data, as well as unlimited talk and text per month. And as a bonus, we're also including an Apple watch. This prize normally goes for $2,200. But on Sale of the Century, it can be had for just $8! Me: That's a bargain if I ever saw one. But I'm going to do even better. I'll throw in a thousand dollars in cash and knock down the price of the phone to $6. What do you think about that offer, Billy?

(Darion failed to send a PM, so I will assume that he is passing on all four questions for this set) Which organ in the human body is the most commonly transplanted from one human to another? (Buzzcode: 53; Kourtney rings in) Kourtney: The kidney Me: Right. Based on average income, what is the poorest nation in the Western Hemisphere? (Buzzcode: 2; Kourtney rings in) Kourtney: Cuba? Me: No sir, that would be Haiti. Cinderella, Rapunzel and Hansel and Gretel are a few of the fairy tales written by 19th century German brothers, Jacob and Wilhelm, whose last name was what? (Buzzcode: 40; Kourtney rings in) Kourtney: Grimm Me: They're the Brothers Grimm, yes. Which Greek physician from the 4th Century B.C. is known as the father of medicine? (Buzzcode: 93; Billy rings in) Billy: Hippocrates Me: That's absolutely right, and the scores now stand like this.
Kourtney: $25 Billy: $29 Darion: $20
A $9 spread between first place and third place at the moment as we get ready to play our first Fame Game of the evening. A $10 card is hiding behind a famous face, so who am I?
Born in 1933, my mother was a marathon dancer and my father was a musician. I worked on Armed Forces Radio during the Korean War and I was also an outstanding basketball player during my high school years. From 1967 to 1990, I presided as emcee of the Miss Canada pageant and in 1974, I was named host of the Canadian game show Definition. But my big moment came in 1978 when I was tabbed to host Card Sharks, a position I held until the show went off the air in 1981. Two years later, however, I began hosting the American version of Sale Of The Century and did so until the show's cancellation in 1989. I passed away shortly after I turned 82.
(PM your buzzcode and answer to me no later than 2pm Eastern time Friday, January 8th. PM the word "pass" to me if you don't know. More will be added if everyone passes)

Buzzcode: 30 (Kourtney buzzes in) Kourtney: Jim Perry Me: The one and only. Now Kourtney, have a look at the board that's in front of you.
FAME GAME 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9
You will notice that we have nine spaces on the board. However, only one of them conceals the $10 money card. Another space conceals the word Burglar, another one conceals the word Turbo, another conceals the word Lockout and the remaining spaces conceal prizes. Now, the Burglar, Turbo and Lockout cards can be of great use to you; however, they could also have an effect on your opponents. With that said Kourtney, pick one of the nine numbers from the board.

He hopes the ten is behind number five. Behind five is.............. BURGLAR It's the Burglar card. With that, you can swipe $5 from whichever opponent you want. So who do you want to burglarize?

(Back to the studio) Welcome back to Sale of the Century. Our carry over champ Kourtney has a $6 lead over Billy at the moment thanks to the use of the Burglar card right before the break. Four more questions coming up for the three of you, and here they are.
1) What is the only U.S. state capital city named after a Biblical character? 2) The world's most successful board game, it was unveiled in 1935 and has has sold more than 200 million copies in 26 languages. What is it? 3) The framework of the Statue of Liberty was designed by which well-known European engineer? 4) How do they say ice cream in Italy?

What is the only U.S. state capital city named after a Biblical character? (Buzzcode: 82; Darion rings in) Darion: Des Moines Me: No, St. Paul. (Kourtney: $30; Billy: $24; Darion: $15) The world's most successful board game, it was unveiled in 1935 and has has sold more than 200 million copies in 26 languages. What is it? (Buzzcode: 2; Darion rings in) Darion: Monopoly Me: That's right. (Kourtney: $30; Billy: $24; Darion: $20) The framework of the Statue of Liberty was designed by which well-known European engineer? (Kourtney rings in) Kourtney: Eiffel Me: Alexandre Gustav Eiffel, yes. (Kourtney: $35; Billy: $24; Darion: $20) How do they say ice cream in Italy? (Kourtney rings in) Kourtney again. Kourtney: Gelato Me: Right again. (Kourtney: $35; Billy: $24; Darion: $20)
(creaking noise is heard) Don't be alarmed by that creaking noise, it's just the sound of the Sale of The Century vault being opened. Kourtney, since you're the one in front at this time, you can give up $10 from your score to see how much money we have inside the vault. You would still retain your lead if you elect to go for it; what do you say?

Both logical and sensible reasoning. You keep your $11 lead as we go back to the questions.
1) Which 19th-20th century artist, son of the founder of a New York jewelry chain, applied the Art Nouveau style to stained glass windows, lamps, and other decorations? 2) The area of a parallelogram is 144 square inches and its height is 16 inches. What is its base? 3) What organization has won the Nobel Peace prize at least 16 times? 4) In what year was the sport of rugby invented?
