Greetings NGCers,
I've been toying around with some ideas on making a new Top Card Deluxe for special occasions. Think of it as a prime time Top Card. The object would be pretty much the same; get the closest to 21 w/o going over. Here are the differences from the "daytime" version:
Rounds one and two:
Each round will be played by three different players. Instead of seeing categories, they will see prizes to choose from on the board. The contestant who gives the correct answer to the question attached to the prize will bank the prize in their account. The player can choose to keep the card attached to the prize or take the top card off the dealer's deck. The contestant who comes closest to 21 without busting wins the round, the prizes banked in his/her account, and a brand new car.
Championship Round:
The two winners from the previous rounds will compete head to head. Rules are the same as in previous rounds, but the prizes are more expensive. Winning the championship round earns all the prizes banked in the winner's account and $100,000 in cash.
Million Dollar Bonus Rule (Based on NGC input):
Should the winning player achieve a perfect 21 in both his/her first round and the championship round, the $100,000 cash prize awarded in the championship round will increase to a $1,000,000 cash prize.
This version will have no bonus round.

Great, now if we get a third contestant, that's great. If not, we can do a test Championship Round.

Thank you for your patience. Let us begin.
Let's begin with the tossup. How many quarts are there in a gallon?
Buzzcode: 95
J: 4 K: 24 D: 54 (DING!)
Doug?
Doug: 4 (Applause) Very good. You know your weights and measures! Before we get to the prizes let's see who you choose as this round's dealer. Since you have won the tossup, you have the choice to have Leslie (red cards) or Sophie (blue cards) to deal this round. Whoever doesn't deal this round will deal in the next one.

Me: Very well. Sophie, we'll see you in the next round. (Applause as she walks off the stage)
Contestants, instead of seeing categories, you'll see prizes on Top Card Deluxe. Should you answer a question correctly, you get to bank the prize in your account. In order to win the prizes and advance to the championship round, you must get as close to 21 without going bust. However, should you get a 21 on the nose, you'll earn this million dollar turken, I mean token! (Audience LOLs)
(Looking at the audience) Gimme a break; it's almost Thanksgiving!
Anyway, this token entitles you to play for $1,000,000 instead of $100,000 in the championship round. We'll explain more when that happens.
Doug, you are charged with the task of selecting the first prize. (To clarify, I will randomize the question order via random.org.) The mystery cash amount could be anywhere between $100 and $5000.

Let's see if you can clean up with this question. The category is newsmakers. On July 1, 2015, which lion was shot and killed after Walter Palmer, an American recreational big-game hunter, had wounded him with an arrow? (Buzzcode: 23)
D: 14 K: 29 J: 28 (DING!)
James? James: Cecil (Applause)
Cecil is correct. You have banked the washer and dryer. I'd be lyin' if I said an 10 or an ace wasn't a good start. (Groans and a shout of "Too soon" come from the audience.) Let's see your card.
Me: IT'S A JACK! James, I'm legally obligated to ask even though we all know the answer. Do you want to keep it or take the top card?

Excellent choice. I have just been told that there IS an ace on the board somewhere. Find it, and you will earn a CHANCE to win one MILLION dollars! Where is it?

We will see how much money is in the cash pot after we have word with this question. The category is "words, words, words". What is the stock of words used by a particular people?
Buzzcode: 51
D: 96 K: 22 (DING!) J: pass
Kourtney rings in.
Kourtney: Language (Old WOF Buzzer)
Me: Sorry, that's not quite right.
(Doug Rings in)
Me: Doug?
Doug: Lexicon?
Me: That's wrong too...(looks down at the podium) The judge will accept that answer. (applause) The answer on my card is "vocabulary", but lexicon will work too. (Goes over to the board) Let's see how much you won...
$362
(Some groans and scattered applause) Not a whole lot, but it's a little something. Hopefully, the card is better.
Doug, would you like to take the 8, or exchange it for the top card?

That was a rather frosty response, but Leslie, do you have something better?
Leslie: A rounder figure...
(applause) Me: Doug, that queen gives you 10! Again, there is an ace somewhere; where do you think it is?

Perhaps you can take a picture of this place. The category is: IT's A SCORCHER: The Gobi, the largest desert in Asia, is in southern Mongolia & the northern part of what country? BUZZCODE: 66 D: 1 K: 91 J: 52 (DING!) James? James: China. (Applause) James. Will this round be picture perfect, or will there be overexposure? (That makes no sense....) Uh oh! Not the card you were hoping. Do you want to keep the 5 or take the top card?

Leslie, James is hoping you have an ace. Do you? Leslie: ...and Doug and Kourtney hope I don't. I don't. (Audience groans) Me: A big "whew" from Doug AND Kourtney. James, select another prize, please.
