We're just about to start another episode of On A Roll. Matt Ringgenberg returns with two match wins and $79,550 in cash.
Want to challenge him? So long as you haven't lost to Matt in a match since Episode 11, give this a try. The player closest to the right answer, high or low, gets to play. And here's your question.
The On A Roll prop master had some fun creating five d20 dice. On each icosahedron, each number 1 through 20 inclusive was multiplied by five cents and, as a result, the sides resemble the spaces seen on TPiR's Showcase Showdown wheel.
Before the show, one of our guest models rolled the five icosahedra. What was the total value of her roll? Please respond to the nearest nickel, in dollars and cents and make sure your answer is higher than 20¢ and lower than $5.05.
This game operates on 24-hour deadlines. Please PM me your answer in 24 hours from now.

[Note from Doug: If you're interested in how these d20 images came together, here's how. First, the d20 dice were rolled with an iPad app called Mach Dice (not to be confused with Make Dice, which is just about as good). The images of the sides I created myself; I then uploaded them to www.dougmorris.org/machdice/tpirscsd/ (note the "dot org"). So if you have any non-video home game version of TPiR and want to take a different route to your SCSD, there ya go.]
Okay, everyone's answers are in. First, let's see the results of the dice. Work with us on this one. From left to right and top to bottom, the dice came up 40, 35, 65, another 40 and 85 cents. All that adds up to... (ding)...$2.65. Who's the closest? $3.30 pathfinder20Kourtney Wilson takes on the champ -- after I get some Spurs geekery out of my system. Voiceover guy: Go Spurs Go! (vamp to opening theme)Tiffany Phillips: If you uncovered the clues... ...Spurs... ...The River Walk -- and... ...city in Texas, would you come up with...... ...San Antonio? If so, you're -- on a roll! (opening theme plays; audience cheers) Joining us at the game board, from "The Bold and the Beautiful", is Jennifer Gareis. Also from "The Bold and the Beautiful", our dice girl for Game 1 is Ashley Jones. And here's our host, ready to get on a roll, Doug Morris!Thank you, Tiffany. Hellooooooo, everybody, and welcome to the hump day edition of On A Roll -- the game of names, puzzles and lucky rolls of the dice. We're in luck today -- because we have two of the stars of "The Bold and the Beautiful" helping us today -- and they represent the latter to say the absolute least -- Ashley Jones and Jennifer Gareis. (audience cheers) Yeah, we got fans of your show here today, for sure. We had a name game involving the Forrester family on yesterday's show. Ashley: Yes, we saw that. And Ashley over here plays *Bridget* Forrester on that fine program. Ashley, this isn't your first rodeo when it comes to game shows. Ashley: Oh, yes, I was on "The Price is Right" a couple of times -- once in a showcase and another as a guest model with Jack Wagner. And, Jennifer, over there, this isn't your first visit with *us*. Jennifer: Yeah, I was a guest of Greg's last season -- and Greg also appeared on our show. We'd love to have you drop by and have a guest-starring role. What -- and flub up my lines eleventy-billion times? (audience laughs) I appreciate the offer -- but you'd be in for a 19-hour day if you booked me. Jennifer: So -- you need -- cue cards? (audience laughs) Absolutely -- because I got a floor director holding up a card reading, "Let's welcome today's rollers." (theme plays; audience applauds) Matt Ringgenberg's back at the dice table. Challenging him is Kourtney Wilson. Matt, in two days, has won $79,550 -- (audience cheers) -- all that in cold hard On A Roll cash. You haven't won a car yet. Think today's going to be the day?

Kourtney, it's possible each of you will win a game *and* a car on today's show. Think that'll happen?

I think It's possible but the it depends on what the dice says.

What do the dice say? Wasn't that a line from a song by Ylvis?
(scattered laughter from the crowd)
But seriously, we've gotten to know Matt and his work in Iowa. Kourtney, please tell us about you.

I am a cashier at a nationwide sub shop from Southern GA. I have been in the region for nearly 25 years. I love writing (roleplaying), listening to music and learning more about different languages. Right now learning how to speak Korean.

Sounds like we have a battle of the cashiers today. I hope you each win a car and tons of money. It's all possible. All you have to do is get on a roll. It all starts by gaining control of our dice by winning a name game. The first player to chime in and recognize the famous last name gets control of the dice for four rolls -- and uncover parts of our game board. We'll set up the board later. But right now, let's play a sample name game. (FF reveal sfx)A name game starts by showing you the number of letters in the last name. In this case, seven letters. I then read the clue. He got on a roll -- by carrying a big stick and speaking BLANKly.We then randomly reveal three letters in the name... (ding)...and then you may buzz in and take a guess. If you're right, you earn the four rolls. If you're wrong, your opponent sees three more letters... (ding)...and takes a free guess. And in this case, the right answer is... (ding)...Rayburn -- as in Gene Rayburn, of course. Now, Matt and Kourtney, let's play your first actual name game. (FF reveal sfx)And we start with a biggie. Eleven letters in this last name. Here's your clue. Oh, this actor is on a roll -- alright, alright, alright.(ding) Matt and Kourtney, please PM me with a buzz code from 1-100 as well as your answer.

(buzz buzz)No takers in time. So here's what we'll do. I'll repeat the clue and we'll reveal just three more letters. Here's the clue one more time. Oh, this actor is on a roll -- alright, alright, alright.(ding) Matt and Kourtney, please PM me with a buzz code from 1-100 as well as your answer.

[Note from Doug: Kourtney elected to pass. Also, while Matt didn't capitalize a C in his response, we are considering his answer.] (Matt buzzes in) Matt? Matt: Mcconaughey (dings; audience applause) There ya go. Matthew McConaughey. And now... (Doug hands Matt the dice) ...Matt, you control the dice for four rolls. You're going to use the numbers you roll to uncover as many of the letters on our game board as you can. Let's load up the game board for Game 1, please. (FF reveal sfx; Jennifer poses by numbered and blocked spaces) The numbered and blocked spaces hide letters. The letters make words that serve as clues to the identity of a person, place or thing. As you know, you may take numbers that match the numbers on, or sum of, the dice. Letters that are blocked by the question marks stay blocked until you correctly identify a clue. And remember this word of caution. Please -- do *not* roll doubles. If you throw doubles, your opponent inherits the remaining rolls in a round -- and picks up one free letter. So -- Matt -- you know what to do -- because you're the one who is on a roll. (Matt rolls)(scattered cheers) And great first roll. Matt, you may take any 6 and 5 off the board -- and they don't have to be on the same row -- or you may play the sum and take any 11.

Going top shelf for ... (Jennifer touches screen)...an A and... (Jennifer touches screen)...an S. Matt, you may guess the top clue or roll again. Players, keep in mind if you're wrong about guessing a clue or the overall puzzle, there's no penalty and you're still on a roll.

[Kourtney passed on this one -- so...] (Matt buzzes in) Matt? Matt: Armstrong. (dings; audience applause)There ya go. Lance Armstrong. Gosh, our writers must've gone to the Hall of Shame. We had a question about Jerry Sandusky on the last show -- and now this. Anyhoo, Matt, four rolls are yours. Go to it. You're on a roll. (Matt rolls)Starting this go-round with a 3 and a 6... ...or a 9.
