RELATIVELY SPEAKING is worth how much to James? (Blake touches the screen...BONG!) 80 points. Kevin, be ready to steal if James is wrong. James... In 2011, a young lady named Maggie recorded a country song called "First Kiss" and did a music video under the direction of CMT Award Winner Trey Fanjoy. When Maggie turned 17, her famous father played a clip of the video on the game show he hosts. Name Maggie's famous father.

ME: Correct! (Applause) Maggie Sajak, Pat's daughter, is an up-and-coming country singer.
EDGAR: Of course, YOU would be the one to ask that question (audience laughs).
ME: Of course I would! I met the guy. James knew that, too, so his score goes up. (BONG-BONG-BONG-BONG-BONG!) That sound means it's the end of the round, so let's check the scores.
KEVIN: 170 points KOURTNEY: 220 points JAMES: 810 points
ME: As you can clearly see, even if James were to miss the Catch-Up Question, and Kevin and Kourtney were to get it, James is so far in the lead that he couldn't be caught. So, the game is over, and James is our champ once again! (Applause as theme begins. Blake and I go behind the podiums to talk to the contestants.) Kevin and Kourtney, you put up a great fight, but the questions didn't seem to go your way this time. Kourtney, you've got some parting gifts coming your way, and Kevin, you do, too, along with the coffee machine you won earlier. Give it up for Kevin and Kourtney, ladies and gentlemen! (Audience applauds as we shake hands with Kevin and Kourtney. Then, we go over to James and put our hands on his shoulders again) James, you did it again! Your 810 points becomes $810, and you won the reference books earlier for a total so far today of $1,160. How much more can he win? We will find out soon, as James plays the Fandango Grand Slam! Stay with us!

(Applause as James and I are now standing in front of the podiums) ME: We are back! James, you've won your second game, picking up $1,160 cash and prizes. Now, you have a chance to win thousands more in the Fandango Grand Slam. Ready to do it? JAMES: I sure am! ME: Great! You know the rules: four correct answers in four different categories, and you win a fantastic bonus prize! Speaking of which, you've already won one Grand Prize: the Kia Soul. Therefore, you cannot win it again. However, there are still seven Grand Prizes left, and if you step back (James and I do), Blake will show us and Edgar will tell us what they are. (The curtain opens to reveal the showcase of prizes. Blake is standing near stage left, at a stand displaying this prize as the theme starts....) EDGAR: James, we could jet you and a companion off to fabulous Las Vegas, Nevada! Southwest Airlines Vacations will send you for a six-night stay in a luxury suite at the Venetian Hotel, where Old World Italy meets modern amenities like shopping, fine dining, spa, and nonstop entertainment. Enjoy a pair of Las Vegas Power Passes for admission to some of Sin City's most popular attractions. With travel insurance, ground transportation, and $1,000 cash, this package is worth... $4,825(Blake moves over to the other stand and does a little samba dance) You could also enjoy a fascinating vacation in Rio de Janiero! You'll fly to Brazil for a six-night stay in a Super Executive Room at the Windsor Atlantica, a fine hotel overlooking world-famous Copacabana Beach. Enjoy world-class shopping, dining, and a rooftop pool in one of the world's most exciting cities. With travel insurance, private car transportation, and $1,000 cash, this trip is worth... $5,750(Blake stands center stage, running one of her hands across this prize) Or, you could enjoy fun on the water in this powerful 19-foot Regal speedboat! The Regal 1900 ESX is perfect for beginners and old salts alike, with its 7-passenger capacity and intuitive controls. From Regal Marine Industries, Orlando, Florida. Worth... $25,800(Blake raises her hand to her shoulder for a close-up of this prize. Cut to art card) For the lady of your life, this glamorous Princess-Cut Channel-Set Diamond Eternity ring cast in platinum could be yours. You may choose this piece, any other piece, or even create your own fine jewelry with this gift certificate from Blue Nile Jewelers valued at... $7,500(Blake stands at the next prize, with the ring clearly on a display stand. She pretends to play with this prize) How about livening up your game room with this pinball machine? From Stern Pinball, now you can rock and roll all night with KISS, as this machine pays tribute to one of the most electric rock bands ever. Features samples from 10 songs, voices of Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons, and exciting gameplay features to capture the energy of a KISS concert. This limited edition machine is worth... $8,800(Blake opens the door to this prize, places one foot on the running board, and raises an arm) Maybe you could win this 2015 Jeep Wrangler Sport! Powered by a 3.6 liter, 3-speed V6, this American icon features tough off-road tires and a soft top, while including a connectivity package integrating the latest technology. This vehicle is worth approximately... $26,700(Blake retrieves a clear briefcase from the front seat of the Jeep containing this prize, and walks it to a stand on center stage) Last but not least, you will have TWO chances to win our cashpot, which today is worth... $16,000These seven prizes, totaling over NINETY-FIVE THOUSAND DOLLARS, are still up for grabs in the Fandango Grand Slam! Good luck! ME: Thanks, Edgar and Blake! James, you know the drill now: select three of the eight categories you saw today, and those will determine your preliminary questions and gifts. Choose carefully, because the order in which you say them will be the order in which we play them. (Audience yells suggestions as James ponders his three categories)

ME: All right. You've chosen your three categories. Blake, please reveal the prizes behind THE DAY THE MUSIC DIED, RHYME TIME, and RELATIVELY SPEAKING, in that order. (She does so. As each category fades, a prize appears...BONG! BONG! BONG!) ME: You have chosen to play for a DISHWASHER, a ROCKER RECLINER, and a SAMSUNG LED TV! (Applause) Edgar, tell James about those gifts. (Theme starts) EDGAR: For Question 1, you'll be playing for this dishwasher. Whirlpool's Portable dishwasher is Energy Star certified with auto soil sensor, 1-hour wash cycle, high-temperature wash option, and a tall tub, all in Whirlpool's quietest dishwasher ever. Comes equipped with two racks and 12-place-setting capacity. Approximate retail value: $750. For Question 2, you'll be playing for a rocker recliner. The La-Z-Boy Pinnacle Power Recline XR Reclina-Rocker features double the power of other recliners. Comes with a power back and legrest you control independently to any combination of positions. Plushly-pillowed seating with a high back, channel-stitched details, and full-body chaise reclining comfort and support provide a relaxing experience. Retail value: $1,360. And for Question 3, you'll be playing for this LED TV. From Samsung, the J5000 Series 50-inch LED TV delivers a full HD viewing experience with clear moving picture resolution and enriched colors. A USB connection allows you to connect your devices to view pictures, watch movies, or listen to music with DTS Premium Sound. The value of this prize is $1,000. The grand total of all three prizes is $3,110! ME: Nice choices, James! When you get finished with the dishes, you can relax in your recliner and watch your LED TV! Nice little prize package, but it's not yours yet. You know what you have to do. You have to answer questions correctly to claim those gifts. A wrong answer at any point forfeits all gifts won up to that point, but you can stop after any correct answer. The first question is for the dishwasher, and the category is THE DAY THE MUSIC DIED. James... While touring with Buddy Holly, this future "outlaw country" singer was supposed to fly out on the plane, but gave up his seat to The Big Bopper, who was sick with the flu. As he headed back to the band's bus, he joked "Well, I hope your ol' plane crashes," a memory that haunts him to this day. Was this singer...Merle Haggard or Waylon Jennings?

I believe it is Waylon Jennings!

(Audience applauds)
ME: They seem to approve of your answer. Of course, we have to go to Edgar to see if you're right. Edgar, he thinks the man who didn't take the plane was Waylon Jennings. Is that the right answer?
EDGAR: Whoever it was is one lucky son-of-a-gun, that's for sure! As it turned out, it was the good-ol'-boy himself, Waylon Jennings! (CLANG-CLANG-CLANG-CLANG-CLANG!)
ME: Nicely done, sir! You've won the dishwasher and now have a chance to win the rocker recliner. Do you want to try the next question, or quit? The category is RHYME TIME.

He's going on! Next question is in RHYME TIME, here we go.
What is the title of the early rock hit that starts off with the lyrics "A wop bom a loo mop, a lop bom bom!"? Is it..."Woolly Bully" or "Tutti Frutti"?

Why I believe it's tutti frutti!

ME: You seem really sure of that. Let's talk to Edgar and see if you're right. Edgar, he thinks it's "Tutti Frutti." What say you?
EDGAR: The lyrics that changed the face of rock and roll..."A wop bom a loo mop, a lop bom bom! Tutti frutti, ah rooty...WOOOOOO!" (CLANG-CLANG-CLANG-CLANG-CLANG! Audience laughs and applauds)
ME: Edgar, you all right, bud? You sang really high on that last note.
EDGAR: Yeah, I made it. All my vocal cords are intact. Get it? Cords! (Audience boos and hisses)
ME: Oh, boy. That turned sour fast. In any event, you have the dishwasher and recliner. The third question is for the LED TV, and the category is RELATIVELY SPEAKING. Do you want to try for it, risking what you've won, or split?

I'll take it that you're going for it. Here is the question for that LED TV.
This sometimes serious, sometimes satirical singer-songwriter appears on the soundtracks of many movies featuring his cousin, Johnny Knoxville. Is he...Roger Alan Wade or Robert Earl Keen?

Is it Roger Alan Wade?

Post by jmdarrall on Nov 22, 2015 23:52:59 GMT -5
ME: Didn't seem too sure about that one. Edgar, is James right? Is the answer Roger Alan Wade?
EDGAR: I take back what I said about Waylon Jennings being the luckiest man alive. That title belongs to Johnny Knoxville, after all the stuff he's been through! (Audience laughs) Anywho, his cousin, hard to believe, is the singer ROGER ALAN WADE. He's three-for-three! (CLANG-CLANG-CLANG-CLANG-CLANG!)
ME: Great job, James! You've conquered all three of the preliminary questions. Now, it's time to go for the grand prize. You know what happens, though. The final question will have no choices, and the category you pick determines your grand prize. Word of warning, though. Miss it, and you lose everything you've won up to now. So, I'm going to give you one last chance to bail out. On top of your prizes, I'd like to offer you...(reaching into my jacket pocket)...some cash. How does $2,500 sound?
(Audience ooohs) A sure thing worth $5,600, or a chance at much more. Which do you want?
- Take over $5,600 cash and prizes and stop. - Choose one last category and risk it all (if you choose this, go ahead and give me your final category).
I have a hunch as to what you are going to do, but you need to make it official. James, what will it be?

I am risking it all! And since I just won the TV: Let's go with TV Themes!

ME: You have chosen to go for it all with TV THEMES. Your Grand Prize is waiting behind that category. Blake, you know what to do. BLAKE: I sure do. Good luck once again, James. (She touches the screen. The camera zooms in as the category fades...BONG!) (Audience oooohs and ahhhhhs at the reveal as James smiles and applauds) ME: The REGAL SPEEDBOAT! Obviously, there's a lot at stake on this final question, with no choices. Here it is... Starting in 1955, this singer's musical variety show featured him singing the theme song, entitled "Dream Along With Me." For nearly $29,000 in prizes, including that speedboat....name the singer.

Perry Como?

(Mixed reactions from the audience)
ME: All right. We have your answer, although you don't seem too sure of it. We will go to Edgar now. We know what's at stake. Edgar, for all those prizes, James says the final answer is Perry Como.
EDGAR: That is one that goes wayyyy back, that's for sure. If you tuned in and heard the song "Dream Along With Me," you knew you were going to watch some great performances by.....
PERRY COMO! You did it again!
(Applause and cheering as James reacts with surprise. Theme starts up as Edgar's lights flash. Blake comes up for a congratulatory hug and is holding something in her hand.)
ME: Hahaha! Nice job, James! Another Grand Slam for you! I will shake the hand of a great champion, for sure! (I do so) Blake has something for you to go with your Grand Prize, if I'm not mistaken.
BLAKE: Of course. James, congratulations on winning your new speedboat! You'll need this to enjoy it even more. (She puts a boat captain's hat on James' head)
ME: Very nice! You look great in that, by the way. Let's add it all up. Today, you've won the books, the dishwasher, $810 cash, the LED TV, the recliner, and the speedboat! We add that to the $24,055 won last time, and your grand total is...
$54,125
ME: And you're not done! You're coming back tomorrow for another game, and you'll have six prizes left to play for, including a cash pot worth $17,000. How far will James go? Find out next time on "Fandango"! Bye! I bet you want to see your boat, right, James?
(Credits roll as James, Blake, and I go to the showcase to check out the boat. As the credits end, we turn and wave to the camera.)
EDGAR: The voice of Edgar is not.....Joaquim Phoenix. Come along and join us again for another episode of "Fandango"! We'll be waiting for you.
