Hello friends,
After long and careful deliberation, I am in need of a longer break from net games, specifically hosting, so for the time being at least, I'm actually going to go into "hibernation". I've not yet determined if my hosting hibernation will be temporary or permanent. I lean toward temporary because I like to keep options open, and I realize how I'm feeling this morning may very well not be how I feel in a month or two from now.
I will finish out my guesting on the current MG/HS Hour episode.
Not sure if this is a "mid life" crisis, since I am 48 I suppose it is, but lately the passion and drive have been missing for me. Between concerns about the future of my job, a lot of stress lately at the workplace, coupled with some health issues this year and other daily and weekly stresses in this grind of life, I have little to no energy by the time I access these boards. Furthermore, due to work restrictions, I am no longer able to access these boards from the office.
I'll still be around. and I'm hoping come the holiday season the game show "bug" will once more hit me. And as has been tradition the last couple of years at least, I fully intend to be a panelist on Doug's "The Name's the Same" episode that he presents every holiday season.
I can tell I'm struggling because I've hit a block of sorts in trying to create the new game which I had announced. Call it a temporary slump or rut I guess.
I remain in high spirits, but just very low energy levels right now and I cannot and will not want to do a half-hearted job of hosting any game I try to present on here.
Best to one and all,
Bill

I know that feeling, Bill. I'm experiencing it right now since I'm uncomfortable doing things without giving it my 100%. I've been making mistakes while hosting that I shouldn't be making and I figure some time off would do me good as well. Plus my workload picking up a bit at my job isn't making things any easier. I should be at my full potential in mid-October at the earliest.

I completely understand how you feel, Bill. Family and health come first as always. I'll look forward to see you return whenever you see fit. My thoughts and prayers go out to you and the rest of your family. I'll be back in either next month or this November.

Thanks all for the kind words. I'm glad to know I do not feel alone Kevin, although I am sorry that you too are going through a similar lull.
For me, increased job worries, plus being in the middle of having to get a replacement vehicle, and now a suspicious character loitering here in my neighborhood, along with some other personal and family matters, all have contributed toward trying to erode away my spirit, but my spirit keeps fighting it.
Now I am going to be home sick today with a mild fever, sore throat, chest heaviness, and also experiencing some off and on stomach pains too. And in spite of a full course of Zquil, a lousy night's sleep from last night, not falling asleep until 9:45pm, I woke at 1:30 this morning wide awake, feeling awful. I e-mailed my supervisors at work and told them I would not be coming in today. Thankfully I have the luxury of being able to do m time card from home.
I hope to get the "itch" back again to host, but right now it is lying dormant within me. What is never dormant however is my appreciation and deepest respect to you, my friends, who cared enough to reach out and reply to this message. If only more people in my "real life" circle would afford me the same courtesy when I need it, especially when I always try to go out of my way to do the same for them.
Best to you all, now and always,
Bill

Argh! December can't get here soon enough. Yes, we've got a good lineup of challengers for the next Name's The Same. Seriously, Bill, please take care of yourself and the loved ones you treasure.

Thank you Doug and Matt. I'm finding it a bit easier to enjoy myself again. Just trying to pace myself best I can. Starting to feel the creative juices slowly flowing back into my tired middle-aged brain

I'm gonna leave the internet today for tomorrow's move. And when I get a new computer in the middle of next month or November, I'll resume my duty.
And Bill... take extra care of yourself and your family. Whenever you feel like returning to net games, we'll be more than grateful.
