Gonna play it safe, take the 20 -- and take the lead. After Round 5 of 11: asja2002 john1987248John leads the champ by a dozen as we play a question about love and marriage. Ordinal number question: Would wood be an ideal gift to celebrate a couple's first, second, third, fourth, fifth or sixth wedding anniversary? 25 asja2002 43 john1987248 85 randomizer.org (John buzzes in)John?

John says gifts of wood come five years into a marriage. Does he say right? (ding; audience applause)He does. Now if you're anticipating a pun from me on this matter, I *wood* not go there. (scattered groans) (rolling sfx) Chance to pad your lead, John. Let's see what happens.

Going with the no freeze strategy again. Let's see how this works. (rolling sfx)All dice reroll. Let's see what happens here. (ding)Stop on a 6. (ding)There's a 3. (ding) (scattered groans) And there's a 1. Got a dime out of that. After Round 6 of 11: asja2002 john1987248John's nearing the midway point with 48. Steven still has 26. Anything can still happen as we start Round 7 with this. Single digit question: "The Amanda Show" starred a young actress named Amanda. How many different letters are in her last name? 49 asja2002 08 john1987248 72 randomizer.org (Steven buzzes in)Steven?

All right. At the least, let's see if this lady has 5 letters in her last name. (ding; audience applause)Yup -- and you were all over it, Steven. We're talking about Amanda Bynes. (rolling sfx)You could use some points, Steven. A triple or any 13 would give you the lead. (ding)There's a 1. (ding)There's a 5. (ding) (scattered cheers) And there's a 3 for an odd straight. Well, Steven, this won't give you the lead. But if you end the round here, you'll trail by only 2 points. Either way, we have four questions left in this game, including a make-up question, unless someone reaches 100 points.

Playing it safe and with that... After Round 7 of 11: asja2002 john1987248...it's a two-point game. Round 8 starts with this. As we play another missing digit question on Crag, let's talk about another dice game -- Craps. I'll show you the year a New Orleans playboy introduced the dice game we now know as Craps to his fellow New Orleanians -- and you tell me the missing digit.(ding)04 asja2002 61 john1987248 55 randomizer.org (John buzzes in)John?

Does the game of Craps go back to 1813? (ding; audience applause)Yes. The game Bernard Marigny introduced to New Orleanians was originally called Hazards. Playboys in the area were known as "Johnny Crapauds" at the time -- hence the name Craps. And you thought Craps referred to a crummy dice roll -- with or without a gremlin. (scattered laughter from the crowd) (rolling sfx)John, chance to pad your lead comes now. Let's see what you come up with.

With the game nearing an end, probably not a bad idea. After Round 8 of 11: asja2002 john1987248John has 68, Steven has 46. John, a Crag will not only give you $1000, it would also give you $2500 more because you'd surpass the goal of 100 points. Steven, on the other hand, would be at the doorstep of automatic victory with a Crag. Anything can still happen as we play Round 9 with a question about authors. Ordinal number question: Was Eugene O'Neill the first, second, third, fourth, fifth or sixth American to win the Nobel Prize for Literature? 64 asja2002 22 john1987248 66 randomizer.org (Steven buzzes in) Steven?

(scattered cheers) Sounds like a plan. This is another Crag first, friends. Ever since we started match play, Round 9 of a game is the latest we've frozen dice. (freeze sfx)Now, Steven, per your request, the first 1 and the 6 do not reroll. The other 1 rerolls now. (rolling sfx)Stop on a 6 and you have the name of the game. (ding; audience cheers)A 6! CRAG! (Doug walks over to Steven's podium) Steven, your total winnings on our show are about to hit $10,000 right on the nose -- because I owe you... (crowd and Doug count money in unison) Doug: 100... Crowd: One... (ding)Doug: 200... Crowd: One... (ding)Doug: 300... Crowd: One... (ding)Doug: 400... Crowd: One... (ding)Doug: 500... Crowd: One... (ding)Doug: 600... Crowd: One... (ding)Doug: 700... Crowd: One... (ding)Doug: 800... Crowd: One... (ding)Doug: 900... Crowd: One... (ding)Doug: $1000! (dings; audience applause)(Doug walks back to his podium) Now, this sets up an interesting situation. After Round 9 of 11: asja2002 john1987248Steven now leads 96 to 68. The goal is 100 points. This is Round 10. Normally the tones would sound indicating we've reached the last question. But because of a production error in Round 1, in which no one scored, we're playing a make-up question and an eleventh round *if* necessary. If John wins this question and scores a Crag, that's the game. Steven, on the other hand, if you win this question, there's no need to go to the dice because the worst possible combination of 1-1-2 would still win the game for you. A lot at stake on this question about -- the Bard of Avon. Missing digit question: I'll show you the year William Shakespeare tied the knot with Anne Hathaway -- and you tell me the missing digit.50 asja2002 71 john1987248 92 randomizer.org (John buzzes in)John, to stay in the game, your answer, please.

John says 2 is the last digit in the year. If that's right, he'll have a chance to win the game. If not, Steven gets a try to seal the deal with just one answer. Did William and Anne say their I do's in 1582? (ding; audience applause)Yes. You sure needed that, John. Again, a Crag will put you past the goal and win you Game 1 and $2500. A straight would help; a triple or non-Crag 13 would get you real close. Fire up those dice. (rolling sfx)When you're ready, give 'em a stop, John.

(ding)Stop on a 4. (ding)Hey now -- a 6. (ding)And -- a 2 to complete an even straight. Well -- John -- if you end the round right now, you'd only be down by eight points going into the final round. By then, simply the higher scorer at the end of said round wins the first game of the match. Or -- if you're feel really lucky -- you may freeze up to two dice and reroll. How do you play it?

Taking a bird in hand and 20 points in the coffers. And with that... After Round 10 of 11: asja2002 john1987248 (tones sound)...*now* we hear the final round tones. Here's the situation. John, you must win this question *and* score eight points to force a tie-breaker *and* another question -- or score nine or more to win. Steven, if you win this question or if John stumbles, the game and $2500 are yours. Here it is -- the last question in Game 1. Missing digit question: I'll show you silver's atomic number on the Periodic Table -- and you tell me the missing digit.(ding) Steven and John, please PM me your answer, buzz code from 1-100 and your stopper letters. Thanks.

47 asja2002 59 john1987248 19 randomizer.org (Steven buzzes in)Steven for the game. Steven: Silver is #47 in the chart, my answer is 4. If you're right and all over it, Game 1 is yours automatically. Is the missing digit a 4? (dings; audience applause)That's right and that's the game. Steven wins the last question of the game, protects the lead and picks up another $2500. John, you score $500 for being our runner-up. We'll be back to play Game 2 of Crag -- in just a moment. (WGYN theme plays; audience applauds)

Armitron Classic Character watches, featuring Snoopy, Garfield, Bugs Bunny, Barbie and more. The fun fashion statement for your wrist. Armitron, America's watch.

And lest we forget, each of our on-stage contestants will receive a copy of Crag: The Home Game. Bring our numeric quiz to your next party or family gathering. Steven and John, let's dive right into Game 2 worth $2500 to the victor and $500 to the runner-up. It takes $5000 to win the match. Steven, if you win this game, you win the match. John, you'll need to win two games in a row. (ding)Our second game of the match starts with a single digit question -- and away we go. Single digit question: Old King Cole was a merry old soul.
