Christianity is right, and that does it for the Lightning round. Let's see what we have in the way of scores. John, you've jumped out in front with $850. James second with $700 and Matt still in third at $500. All of you still in good shape here. Before we continue, I would like to bring something up that I have not mentioned yet. And that something is as follows. If the one of you three who makes it to the bonus round is able to capture Carmen in that round, then you'll go on a trip to one of three different cities in the world. That sounds nice, doesn't it? Gumshoes: yeah! Me: Audience, what do you think? (audience cheers loudly) Well, that makes two groups of people who approve. Anyway, more details about that trip will be given out should one of you manage to win it. Right now, however, ACME Bug Net has been busy tracing a phone conversation that is taking place right now between Vic The Slick and Carmen Sandiego. Let's listen in. (Monitor switches to Carmen and Vic talking via telephone) Vic: Carmen, those detectives are hot on the trail! Carmen: I'm aware, Vic. But we can get them as far away from us as possible with the instructions I'm about to give you, so listen carefully. Vic: I'm listening. Carmen: I want you to go to South America. The country you're to go to used to be home to ancient cultures spanning from the Norte Chico civilization to the Inca Empire. The Spanish Empire conquered the region in the sixteen century and established a Viceroyalty with the country's capital city of Lima. This same country gained independence in 1821, three years before the battle of Ayacucho. Finally, this country is a representative democratic republic divided into 25 regions. It has a high Human Development Index score and a poverty level around 25.8 percent. Its main economic activities include mining, manufacturing, agriculture and fishing. Vic: I wouldn't have to learn any languages for visiting this particular country, would I? Carmen: You would, as this country's main language is Spanish. Vic: But I don't know any Spanish! Carmen: Then I suggest you learn some, and quickly. Mess this up and it's game over for you, understood? Vic: Yes, Carmen. Carmen: Good. We can't waste any time. (Monitor switches back to ACME Crimenet logo) Me: Vic sure sounded a bit nervous in that conversation. All right gumshoes, what country did Carmen tell Vic to go to? Is it: Argentina (bong)? Chile (bong)? Or Peru (bong)? Remember the clues we heard from that phone call. Norte Chico civilization, gained independence in 1821, and Spanish as the main language. Come up with an answer as quickly as you can please. (James, John and Matt, the three of you have 48 hours to PM your answers to me)

All right, it looks like everybody is ready. James, what did you come up with? James: I said Peru. Me: Matt, how about your answer? Matt: I said Peru. Me: John, what answer did you give? John: I also said Peru. Me: All three of you went with Peru, and all three of you are right! Well done, guys. That takes John to $950, James goes to $800 and Matt finally moves up to go to $600. All right, moving right along here............. Old lady: Noise, noise, noise. I can't stand all the noise. Me: Sounds like our upstairs neighbor, Mrs. Pumpkinclanger. (I step outside and find Mrs. Pumpkinclanger at her window) Mrs. Pumpkinclanger: Why must there be so much noise all the time? Me: Probably because we're doing a show here and the gumshoes need some more clues. Mrs. Pumpkinclanger: If I give you the next clue, will you leave me alone? Me: Absolutely. Mrs. Pumpkinclanger: Very well. Here is your clue. Vic is currently hiding in Spain's second most populated city. It's the largest metropolis on the Mediterranean Sea, located on the coast between the mouths of the rivers Llobregat and Besòs, and bounded to the west by the Serra de Collserola mountain range. This city has a rich cultural heritage and today is an important cultural center and a major tourist destination. This city also hosted the 1992 Summer Olympics and is home to the headquarters of the Union for the Mediterranean. This city also hosts many world-class conferences and expositions and international sport tournaments. There's all your information. Now let me have my nap in peace! (Window slams) Me: Well that's all the information we'll need anyway. (I step back inside) Okay gumshoes, name the city Vic is currently in. Is he in Madrid (bong), Barcelona (bong) or Valencia (bong)? Remember the clues from Mrs. Pumpkinclanger: Serra de Collserola mountain range, Spain's second most populated city, and host of the 1992 Summer Olympics. Come up with an answer as quickly as possible. (James, Matt and John, the three of you have 48 hours from now to PM your answers to me)

And everyone is ready, so we'll begin with James. What did you say? James: I said Barcelona Me: Matt, what did you say? Matt: I also said Barcelona Me: John, what was your answer? John: I also said Barcelona. Me: All three of you went with Barcelona, and all three of you are once again right! Very well done there. That means John maintains the lead at $1,050. James second at $900 and Matt goes to $700. All three of you still in this. However, we have just gotten word that Vic has bolted Barcelona. And that means it's time to pick up the Chase. Rockapella: Oooooooooooooh, the Chase! (All of the Rockapella members run across the stage with one shaking his fist at another) I have four questions here, and each correct answer that you give me adds $50 to your score. On that note, here we go. (Jonathan asked me to post all four questions for The Chase at once, so all of them will be posted in one shot)
1) Vic left Spain and darted toward the world's second smallest country. Did he go to Monaco, San Marino or France? 2) Next, he hopped on a plane and headed for the capital city of Italy. This same city also hosted the 1960 Summer Olympics. Did he go to Rome, Venice or Milan? 3) Vic then went toward the country that is the third largest in the European Union according to area. Did he go to Norway, Sweden or Finland? 4) Finally, Vic's travels took him to Riga, which is a city in what country? Is it Estonia, Latvia or Lithuania?
(James, Matt and John, all three of you are to PM your buzzcodes for all four questions to me as well as your answers for all four questions to me, as per the instructions I was given from Jonathan. The three of you have 48 hours to give your PMs to me and I would like for your buzzcodes and answers to be in the same PM please)

(Everyone's ready, so here we go) Vic left Spain and darted toward the world's second smallest country. Did he go to Monaco, San Marino or France? (Buzzcode: 23; John rings in) John. John: Monaco. Me: Monaco is right; question number two coming up. Vic then hopped on a plane and headed for the capital city of Italy. This same city also hosted the 1960 Summer Olympics. Did he go to Rome, Venice or Milan? (Buzzcode: 60; James rings in) James. James: Rome. Me: Rome is right. Question number three. Vic then went toward the country that is the third largest in the European Union according to area. Did he go to Norway, Sweden or Finland? (John rings in) John. John: Sweden. Me: You're right, and here comes the last question. Vic's travels took him to Riga, which is a city in what country? Is it Estonia, Latvia or Lithuania? (Buzzcode: 36; James rings in) James. James: Latvia. Me: That's the answer we need. All right, at the end of the Chase round, we have John up in front at $1,150. James moves to $1,000 and Matt still at $700. All three of doing very well so far. Now it's time for the final clue of this round, which means that you get to decide how much you want to risk. If you're right, we'll add that amount to your score. But if you're wrong, we'll subtract it from your score. You can risk $0, $100, $200, $300, $400 or $500. Take a look at the monitor if you will please. (Map for final clue appears, with the cities of Spokane, Tacoma and Seattle shown) Here's a portion of the world where we think Vic is headed. If you know a lot about this part of the world, you might want to risk a lot. If you don't know very much about it, you might not want to risk quite so much. So, take a look and think about it. (Rockapella sings Whatcha Gonna Risk?) James, Matt and John, the three of you have 48 hours to PM your wagers for the Final Clue to me

(Everyone's ready with the wagers, so let's proceed) All right, for this last clue, we turn to former Major League Baseball all star Ken Griffey Jr. Ken, fire away. (Ken shows up on the monitor) Ken: What's up, gumshoes. To find Vic, you'll have to look in the largest city in the state of Washington. The city he's in is situated on a narrow isthmus between Puget Sound and Lake Washington. This city's first major industry was logging, and by 1910, had become one of the 25 largest cities in the United States. As of 2013, this city is the fastest-growing major city in the United States. This city is also the birthplace of rock musician Jimi Hendrix and the alternative rock style grunge. I also used to play for this city's Major League Baseball franchise during the 1990s. Good luck gumshoes, and swing for those fences. (Monitor switches back to ACME Crimenet logo) Me: All right detectives, we need you to name the city that Ken just made reference to. Is Vic in Spokane (bong), Tacoma (bong), or Seattle (bong)? Remember the clues Ken gave us: Birthplace of Jimi Hendrix, Major League Baseball team, and Puget Sound. Come up with your answers quickly please. (Matt, James and John, the three of you have 48 hours from now to PM your answers to me for this final clue)

(Everyone's ready, so let's go on) All right, let's find out who's going to proceed. Matt, we begin with you since you were in third going into this question. Before you show your answer, how much did you risk? Matt: I risked $500 Me: You'll go up to $1,200 if you're right. What answer did you pick? Matt: I picked Seattle. Me: And Seattle is absolutely right! You go up to $1,200 and into the lead for now. James, you had $1,000 coming into this question. How much did you risk? James: I risked $500. Me: You'll move to $1,500 if you're right. What answer did you choose? James: I chose Seattle. Me: You are right as well! You go up to $1,500 as we come to John. John, you were leading going into this question. How much did you risk? John: I risked $500 Me: $500 for you as well. If you're right, you'll move to $1,650 and move on to the next round. If you're wrong, though, you'll drop to $650 and Matt and James will proceed. What was your answer? John: I said Seattle. Me: That is right and that takes you up to $1,650 which means you and James will move to the next round. Nice work, guys. Well Matt, you did pretty well yourself. You were able to track Vic all the way to Seattle, so the Chief has some things for you that will come in handy for your next assignment. (Jonathan, you're up to tell Matt about his consolation prizes)

Matt, sometimes Vic the Slick can get quite sneaky. However, you did well in this case, and to brush up for your next one, we're awarding you this laptop! This Chromebook includes Wi-Fi access, 2 gigs of memory, and built in mobile broadband, along with security software and other cool features to get you up and running right away. And, because all work and no play makes any gumshoe cranky, I'm giving you the Wii U I played at the start of the show. Maybe you can beat my high score. Until then, Matt, I thank you for your hard work, and I salute you!
(I give Matt a salute...screen returns to Mark)

Not a bad set of prizes for Matt. I hope he enjoys them. I know I would, since I have a Wii U myself. As for James and John, the two of you are now going to look for Vic The Slick in Seattle. But as you know, we never send our agents out into the field without proper preparation. Chief, let's have a briefing. (You're up again, Jonathan)

Vic the Slick has been spotted in Seattle, Washington. First explored by Europeans in 1792, then settled in 1851, the Emerald City has been thriving thanks to logging, gold rushes, aircraft, and now, computer technology. A city of over 600,000 people, Seattle is the birthplace of grunge music and Starbucks Coffee. Now, the boys at Photo Recon have put together these slides (knocking on my desk...a monitor rises up) on Seattle (I press a button on the side). The Space Needle. Seattle's most recognizable landmark. Built in 1962 for the World's Fair, it affords visitors a 360-degree view of the city from its rotating observation deck 500 feet up. Good place to start your search. Next, check out Discovery Park. The largest and westernmost park in Seattle, it's a great place to see local wildlife, including seals and sea lions. The park is located on former naval grounds, and the West Point Lighthouse, seen here, dates back to 1881. Who needs mega-multiplexes when you've got a perfectly good two-screen cinema in the heart of West Seattle? The Admiral Theater dates back to 1942, and is on the National Register of Historic Places. The Seattle International Film Festival has been hosted here, and it still hosts midnight showings of "The Rocky Horror Picture Show." With his tacky clothes, Vic could fit right in. Vic might secure capital for his next business venture the VILE way: by stealing it. But not just any bank will do, oh no. He might try to knock off the Bank of California Building. Built in 1924, during a period of economic growth in Seattle and the rest of the nation, this building is noted for its high rotunda ceiling and marble floors. Since opening, the building has always been a bank, although it is now owned by Key Bank. Finally, Pike Place Market. One of the best-known open-air markets in the nation, this place has it all: fresh fruits and veggies, fishmongers chucking huge fish, comics and collectibles, even exotic herbs and spices. Don't miss the buskers and street entertainers as you walk through. And don't miss Vic the Slick. He has taken the Nintendo Corporation to Seattle, Washington. Go out there and find him! (Sounds of a jet landing as Mark and the contestants arrive at the airport terminal set-up)

All right guys, we're here in Seattle. Put your stuff down against the wall if you please. (James and John do so and take their spots) All right, Vic is hiding in one of the fifteen landmarks that you see on our board. But in order to catch Vic, you need to find the loot because that's the evidence you need to issue a warrant. With a warrant, you can then arrest the crook. The first one of you to find the loot, warrant and crook in that exact order will earn the right to go after Carmen Sandiego. John, you had the better score at the end of the last round, so pick a landmark for me please.

Admiral Theater. (Slide flips up; Warrant) Rockapella: The Warrant! Me: All right, you've uncovered the warrant. But remember that the order is supposed to be loot, warrant and then crook. You do get a free turn, however, so pick again.
