SHOWDOWN
A game show so big, the world couldn't handle it. Literally!
*crackle of thunder*
Alright, Vance, alright, we get the gist. These days, it's not the certainties in life that intrigue viewers. It's the uncertainties. The possibilities. So I'm taking a cue from Britain and trying out a game show that feeds on this intrigue, a show that takes place... after a zombie apocalypse.
*sharp, loud clap of thunder*
RULES
Four contestants compete to survive in a maniacal game show as the evidently sociopathic host looks for the strongest player to partner up with as everyone fights to survive the zombie apocalypse.
The game begins in an unspecified area known as the Safe Zone. Theoretically, you could just survive the apocalypse in there as zombies cannot possibly enter the Zone, but without any supplies or items, it's relatively useless. Each player is given two hearts at the start of the game. If one of them is compromised by the zombies, the player will be infected. Both hearts compromised, and the contestant is eliminated.
Each round features a specific category in which 16 questions will be asked, in sets of four. The player who answers the least amount of questions correctly will be kicked out of the Safe Zone by the host and forced to look for supplies in a zombie-infested building.
In the building, there are four rooms, with the inside of each room unknown to the contestant. They will then choose one room to go in and search for supplies. One room is completely fine and intact, two rooms have a few zombies lurking around, and the other room... is completely overrun by a zombie horde.
If a player is unfortunate enough to encounter a zombie, they will have options to prevent the zombie from compromising one, or both, of their hearts. Each option gives the player a chance to save their hearts, of course if the player has a tool or combative item, that chance is greater. After the player completely sweeps the room, or stops searching at their own discretion, they return to the Safe Zone for another round.
If a contestant loses a heart and becomes infected, they'll be at risk for elimination from the game. They avoid that by answering a certain percentage of questions correctly per question set, depending on the round.
Every question answered correctly in the maingame is worth money, the amount being round dependent...
Round 1: $200
Round 2: $400
Round 3: $600
Round 4: $800
Plus any supply item is worth a varied amount of money, depending on its value and usefulness, and there are also a few small prizes hidden amongst the items.
After four rounds, the contestants will be ranked to find out which one of them was the strongest. The player who answered the most questions correctly will be declared the winner and the other three (or remaining surviving) players will be evicted from the Safe Zone, left to fend for themselves.
The winning contestant will move on to the Bonus Round in an ultimate test of skill. They will be asked 50 questions in sets of five on ten different categories. They need to score a set percentage of the questions right to win the Bonus Round and secure their place in the Safe Zone, that percentage being decided by a bonus wheel.
In the Bonus Round, every question is worth $1,000 a piece. If the contestant wins the Bonus Round, their winnings will be upgraded to a total of $100,000 and if all fifty questions are answered correctly, the player will receive a grand prize of $250,000!
*loud crackle of thunder*
This game might sound perplexing, but once you get into the rhythm of things, it should be easy going... it should be a couple weeks to get all of the questions ready, the show should launch some time in late March.
