I believe at 9pm EST tonight, GSN will have a new host with a new version of "Chain Reaction".
Let's hope it will prove far superior to the Dylan Lane version. Nothing will ever compare to Bill Cullen's version. Geoff Edwards' version was awesome, as is Doug Morris'.

I hope that Dylan Lane does not return or this will probably be an instant GSG induction.

It's another guy for sure. Don't recall his name however, but it's definitely not Dylan Lane.

I still want the "Thru Train" track by Bob Cobert. It's never a Chain Reaction without Bob's signature track.

It was on too late for me to stay up to watch it. Did anybody see it? If so, was it any good?

It was terrific. Even though the betting round remained in place for round 4, the Bonus Round is now a Super Chain where the goal is to guess 7 words that connect to one key word in 45 seconds. Do that, and you win $5,000.

And from what I've read, they no longer have those annoying "speed" chains in between rounds.
The set looks much brighter, and this host seems to actually have a personality!

Didn't watch it, but I generally like Mike Catherwood. He's a frequent guest on Sirius' "Jason Ellis Show" and HLN's "Dr. Drew on Call" (no wonder...he's Dr. Drew's cohost on "Loveline"). I can see him hosting a game show like this seriously, while retaining his wicked sense of humor.

Overall it wasn't too bad. I watched an episode last night at 8pm. I like that it's 4 people instead of 6. I found myself a bit more invested in the contestants since there were only 2 of them, and they showed how they were related. I also love that it's no longer a "battle of the sexes" every match. Mike is indeed a much more engaging host. Then again, a cardboard cutout of Bill Cullen would have outperformed Dylan Lane. There is no way Dylan could be related to Tony, could he? The end game was different. I would have preferred they used a regular chain rather than having a common theme, but I admire that they wanted to be different, and it did make for an exciting and more fast paced end game. The Dylan Lane version was painful to watch, especially when it was evident they would lose. That was true even on Cullen's version of Chain Reaction's bonus game. Geoff Edwards' version it would often come down to the wire and a final guess, but that was slow paced. This end game is a bit more frantic which makes it a bit more enjoyable to me. The set is far brighter too. The old one, mercy, I've been in funeral parlors that felt more warm and cozy! In linkage terms: Cullen's version - 8.5 links out of 10 (due to quality celebrities for the most part) Current version - 7.5 links out of 10 (brighter set, a host with an actual personality, contestants seem to have more personality too) Edwards' version - 6.5 out of 10, most of those 6.5 are for the host. The game play was pretty good. The end game was not frantic enough though and the set was dullsville. Lane's version - 2 out of 10, bland host, depressing set, boring theme music, too many contestants, some of the chains were pretty clever but that was about it. Doug Morris' version - 8 out of 10 because I am somewhat biased as I have written many chains for his show
