Last time I did Card Sharks, I kind of slacked off and never finished the second episode. However, I will do my best to make sure that that does not happen again. Anyway, I need two players for the first episode of the syndicated edition of Card Sharks. Please sign up here if interested.

Very well. We shall begin the match right now. All deadlines are 48 hours and off we go. (cue 1978 opening) Rich: Play it right And you could win a lot of bucks But call it wrong And you're out of luck On...........Card Sharks! And here's the host of Card Sharks, Mark Liotta! (Logo rises as I come on stage to a tremendous applause from the audience. Logo descends) Me: Thank you, Rich. Welcome to Card Sharks everybody. A turn of a single card on this program could win you a lot of cash. And if you're really lucky, you could win a brand new automobile. We'll get into all of that later on in the show, but right now, let's welcome our two players for today's show. Matt Riggenberg and James Greek! (Matt and James run to their poidums) Matt, please tell the folks at home about yourself

Well James, all of us at Card Sharks are very sorry to hear about your grandmother's passing. I'm sure she's very proud of you, however, for getting on the show. All right, let's get to our game. The object is to clear your row of cards by calling higher or lower than the card that preceded it. If you can do that successfully, you win the game. And the first player to win two games wins the match and goes on to play for the big bucks as well as a brand new automobile. As we are in the 21st century, all of the cards will be turned over on the electronic board that you see behind me. We have to keep up with technological advancements, you know. Since we do not have a returning champion on today's program, we drew straws and Matt got the shortest one so he gets the first question. Matt, we surveyed 100 video gamers and we asked them what kind of consoles they like better, the retro ones or the modern ones. Matt, how many of them said that they like the retro consoles better?

In today's world, there are a lot of used movie and game store that sells retro consoles. So there are some gamers who happen to like retro consoles. It's going to be a middle number. 62

Matt says 62 of them like the retro consoles. (ding) James, do you think it's higher or lower than 62?

James says it's higher. (ding) Incidentally, should anyone get a high low question exactly right, they will win a $1,000 bonus. Now, the actual number of video gamers who said that they prefer the retro consoles over the newer ones is: 75 of them. (ding ding ding) James is right, it was higher. Okay James, your first card is.............a six(6C). You may play the card as is, or you may change it. What do you want to do?

He doesn't like that six, he wants it out of here. The six is now................an eight (8H; audience groans) One of the worst cards you can possibly get, but you have to play this one. What's your call, James?

Higher than an eight.......................a seven (7D; buzzer) Boy, tough cards for you to start off, James. Maybe Matt's cards will be better. Matt, you start off with..................a three (3S)! That's a great card. What's your call on the three, Matt?

He is going to freeze on the nine. (Freeze bar goes on Matt's nine; theme starts) And on that note, we're going to head to a commercial. More Card Sharks after this. (Fade to commercial)

(Back to the studio) Welcome back to Card Sharks, everybody. Matt currently has a one card lead over his opponent James Greek and we will pick up the match right now. James, this next question is for you. And since the summer season is upon us, I think you might like this question. We surveyed 100 elementary school children and we asked them what their favorite outdoor summer activity is. James, how many of them said that they like going to the beach?

A pretty high number there. I know I liked doing that when I was in elementary school. I'll say 91

Matt says it's a bit lower. (ding) The actual number of elementary school children who said that they like going to the beach is: 86 of them. (ding ding ding) It is indeed just a little lower. Okay Matt, you have that nine as your starting point now. You can play it or change it.
