Thanks all for your patience as we now start our sixth episode of Three on a Match. johnnyb -- John Bergman is $78,170 away from $250,000 in total winnings. When anyone racks up $250,000 in total cash winnings, the player retires from the show and has the money quadrupled to at least $1,000,000. pathfinder20 -- Kourtney Wilson won a game on the last show and racked up $35,530 in the process. It's unlikely one of our players will strike out in this episode. Due to an irregularity, we're not letting a loss count against John. So, John, Kourtney, come on up.

WNBC - NEW YORK CITY Staff announcer: "AGT: Fantasy League" -- tonight at 8.
(dramatic music plays) Steve Anderson: If you put $20 on the red.......$30 on the green......and $40 on the yellow......you could win $50,000 playing Three on a Match.("Jet Set" plays) Here's your host -- the star of Three on a Match -- Doug Morris!(audience cheers; Doug knocks on wall for good luck a la Bill Cullen) Thank you, Steve. Hellooooooo, everybody, and welcome to Three on a Match. A couple of announcements before we start.
As we trust you've heard by now, my predecessor on this project, billmcdee , is retiring. (audience groans) We're sorry to see him go, too. Bill, please take care of yourself. Please also know the door's always open. Come visit us when you can and don't be a stranger, okay? (audience cheers) A less serious, but more pertinent, announcement -- we planned to bring a new element to the game to spice things up. However, due to a production error that affected the outcome of the last main game, we're going to hold off on changing up our format. Also, as you can see, one of our players is relatively close to winning $250,000 -- which will quadruple to $1,000,000 or more if that 250K goal is met or exceeded. Right now, please welcome back John Bergman and Kourtney Wilson. (audience cheers) Players, with a lot at stake, we're going to get right to business by bringing in our categories.
(board opens)
And we're starting with Hit Songs: 2000s, Priceless Fun, and Hodgepodge. Kourtney, because you won the last game, we'll let you start. Please choose a category.

Let’s go with Priceless Fun.

Post by dougmorrisontheair on Feb 6, 2024 22:00:27 GMT -5
Priceless Fun -- which hides... (ding)...60 bucks. Maybe the winner of this showdown will have enough to the grid. We'll see. The solution to each riddlegram is the name of a game on "The Price is Right". As you know, we'll take the name of a game and express it in other words. We'll need you to chime in and change it back to the actual title of the game. 1. 8:27 p.m. Equals $8.27
2. Discount Contest
3. Fuel Fundage
4. Mysterious 24th Letter of the Alphabet
5. Dorothy's Path to Emerald City
Kourtney and John, for each riddlegram, please respond with a buzz code from 1-100 and your answer.

Doug: Next riddlegram.
2. Discount Contest

(Kourtney rings in)
Doug: Kourtney again.
Kourtney: Bargain Game
Doug: Right again.
pathfinder20 johnnyb
Doug: We also would've accepted Barker's Bargain Bar, for the curious. Kourtney, need one more to clinch. John, need to get on the board here.
3. Fuel Fundage
39 pathfinder20 87 johnnyb 76 random.org
(John rings in)
Doug: John?
John: Gas Money
Doug: And you're on the board.
pathfinder20 johnnyb
Doug: Next one.
4. Mysterious 24th Letter of the Alphabet

(John rings in)
Doug: John again
John: Secret X
Doug: Right again.
pathfinder20 johnnyb
Doug: Well -- plain and simple -- next point wins.
5. Dorothy's Path to Emerald City
29 pathfinder20 30 johnnyb 56 random.org
(John rings in)
Doug: John for the comeback.
John: Golden Road
Doug: That's right!
(audience cheers)
Doug: John, you needed the last three -- and you got the last three for the $60. We now add $10 for every point.
Doug: That *just* brings you to the $90 minimum to go to the grid, John. Now, before we talk about the grid, let's bring in a new category.
(ding)
Doug: The Numbers Game. Well -- that brings back a memory or two, doesn't it? (scattered laughter from crowd) In any event, John, with $90, you may choose a category...
...or you may go to the grid and try to win the game.
If you go for the win, you can only afford one box from each column. But if you make three on a match, by rule, you'd have an instant match for $50,000.
So what do you think -- another category or go to the grid?

Hodgepodge

Post by dougmorrisontheair on Feb 10, 2024 17:22:18 GMT -5
layers, this means all the stakes in this category double. The winner of this showdown actually picks up $80. We're playing for $20 a point. And should someone score all five points in this showdown, we'll award that player $100 instead of $50.
(scattered cheers)
Hodgepodge is one of our potpourri categories. We take all sorts of titles and other common expressions and change the wording. All you have to do is change the wording back to the original form.
1. "Kelsey Grammer's Signature Role as Dr. Crane"
2. "The Policeman Plus The Valet"
3. Autographing atop that stippled row 4. That Mediterranean's farm fowl
5. Maintain thy digits intertwined
Kourtney and John, for each riddlegram, please respond with a buzz code from 1-100 and your answer. (Deadline will be extended due to a football game of great significance.)

1. "Kelsey Grammer's Signature Role as Dr. Crane"27 pathfinder20 65 johnnyb 96 random.org (John rings in)Doug: John? John: "Frazier" Doug: Of course. pathfinder20 johnnyb
Doug: Next one.
2. "The Policeman Plus The Valet"
(time passes)
(buzz)
Great movie -- "An Officer and a Gentleman". Let's try this one.
3. Autographing atop that stippled row
*John passed*
(Kourtney rings in)
Doug: Kourtney?
Kourtney: Signing on the Dotted Line
Doug: That's it and we're tied.
pathfinder20 johnnyb
Doug: Next one breaks the tie.
4. That Mediterranean's farm fowl
(time passes)
(buzz)
Doug: Ohhh -- this was clever. The Mediterranean is a famous -- sea. Farm fowl would be a -- chicken. You end up with -- Chicken of the Sea.
(scattered groans from crowd)
Doug: Let's see if this last one in the category breaks the tie.
5. Maintain thy digits intertwined
*John passed*
(Kourtney rings in)
Doug: Kourtney for the win.
Kourtney: Crossing your fingers.
Doug: We -- can accept. I had "Keep your fingers crossed" on my card. But your answer's close enough for the win.
(audience cheers)
Doug: That last riddlegram was not in quotes -- so as long as you're close enough, you'll score the point. If it were in quotes, it means we're going after an exact title or quotation -- and we'll need precision.
With that, thanks to the doubler, Kourtney's up to $100. More money's coming as we award $20 a point.
Doug: Kourtney with 140, John with 130. But it's Kourtney in control. Kourtney, would you like to pick another category?
And here's a new category -- In Other Words -- or do you want to go to the grid and try to win?

If three Crag dice are behind The Numbers Game, I'm on the next bus to Topeka. (scattered laughter from crowd) (ding)No -- but we do find three free boxes along with $70. I guess that's poetic justice. The correct solution to each riddlegram includes at least one number. It's possible any correct answer will have more than one number. 1. "That 6.4 Million Cent Interrogative Statement"
2. "A Couple of Males, One Female, Plus One Pizzeria"
3. An acknowledgement with ten pistols and eleven revolvers
4. "Twenty Minus Nineteen"
5. "880 Quintupled"

1. "That 6.4 Million Cent Interoggative Statement"64 pathfinder20 13 johnnyb 64 random.org (Kourtney rings in)Doug: Kourtney? Kourtney: The $64,000 Question Doug: That's right. pathfinder20 johnnyb
Doug: On to the next one.
2. "A Couple of Males, One Female, Plus One Pizzeria"

(Kourtney rings in)
Doug: Kourtney again.
Kourtney: Two guys, a girl and a Pizza place
Doug: That's it.
pathfinder20 johnnyb
Doug: One more and this showdown's yours, Kourtney.
3. An acknowledgement with ten pistols and eleven revolvers
54 pathfinder20 07 johnnyb 10 random.org
(John rings in)
Doug: John?
John: 21 Gun Salute
Doug: That's right.
pathfinder20 johnnyb
Doug: Pivotal riddlegram coming up.
4. "Twenty Minus Nineteen"
81 pathfinder20 39 johnnyb 71 random.org
(Kourtney rings in)
Doug: Kourtney?
Kourtney: “One”
Doug: Title of a song by Metallica, U2, and Three Dog Night -- but songs are different. That's right.
pathfinder20 johnnyb
(scattered cheers)
Doug: We still have more. The points become tens of dollars -- and they could make a difference.
5. "880 Quintupled"
38 pathfinder20 80 johnnyb 01 random.org
(Kourtney rings in)
Doug: Kourtney
Kourtney: “The 4400”
Doug: We'll take that -- and Kourtney takes the showdown 4-1.
(audience cheers)
Doug: By the way, we were actually going for the rebooted series title, "4400" -- without the "The". However, the original version's title of "The 4400" would be considered just as correct to be fair.
So with that, Kourtney banks another $70. We add in $10 for every point.
Doug: And with that, Kourtney, you have at least $200 in your podium. You must go to the grid for the win.
And there it is. $250 to spend. You'll have to whittle the money down to less than $20 before you can use the freebies.

(ding) (scattered groans) Right color, wrong suit. Diamond puts you out of the running for the $50,000. But $200 still left to spend.
And I should alert there's a stop sign, Kourtney, since you came to the grid with at least $200. Find the stopper and your turn ends right there and then.

2. "Dependable Authorities"
3. Bunk plus the day's first meal
4. Everything's equal within adoration plus combat

Next one 2. "Dependable Authorities"

Doug: Oh, how quickly we forget -- the CNN program last moderated by Brian Stelter -- "Reliable Sources".
Let's try this one.
3. Bunk plus the day's first meal

Doug: Kourtney?
Kourtney: Bed and Breakfast.

4. Everything's equal within adoration plus combat

(John rings in)
Doug: John?
John: All's Fair In Love And War
Doug: How true and that's right.
pathfinder20 johnnyb
Doug: Last one. Kourtney's trying to go for the grid with this, John's trying to trigger a tie-breaker.
5. Thou shalt not sob above the moo juice poured on the floor
(scattered laughter from crowd)
64 pathfinder20 09 johnnyb 44 random.org
(Kourtney rings in)
Doug: Kourtney for the win?
Kourtney: You should not cry over spilled Milk
Doug: Close enough.
(audience cheers)
Doug: I had "Don't cry over spilled milk" on my card -- but Kourtney was definitely in the ballpark with that answer.
So with that, Kourtney pockets another $100. We now add $10 a point.
Doug: $290 and, I think it's safe to say, two superfluous free boxes. But we'll give 'em to you anyway.
Again, with at least $200 in your account, Kourtney, you must try to win at the grid.
Stop sign's lurking there somewhere. Avoid that stop sign.
Hop to it, Kourtney.
