It's something I always did at the start of every MGM movie, when the lion roared, I roared back at him!
It actually means to give up, to surrender, basically it is one that capitulates.

It means old Jack isn't a leg man!
Actually, in spite of what the word is, it's not associated with mules or stubbornness.
Quite often one has a difficult time getting a mule or a donkey to move.
The meaning of this word is quite the opposite. It means:
Wandering all over the world, kind of like a globetrotter.
