COLD OPEN: (Cut to the outside of The Burbank Studios. Taking place last month, I’m seen inside of my dressing room packing my things. I look at my nameplate from my seat on the Match Game Hollywood Squares Hour and smile. Then…a knock at the door)
Me: Who is it?
(My “agent”, maned Isaac Orchid, is outside with a group of screaming fans)
Isaac: It’s me, Isaac. Some of the audience from today’s show are sad you’re leaving. They want an autograph before you head out. Me: How many is it?
Isaac: Well, to give you a clue, the hallway’s full!
Me: This room can barely hold me! I can’t take on all those people!
Crowd (chanting): WE LOVE YOU IMMANUEL!
Me: Ah, what the heck.
(I open the door to loud screaming)
Me: My goodness! I’ll take on a couple autographs, but my ride’ll be here any minute!
A girl: It’s such a shame you’re leaving, Immanuel! I’ve loved you on NBC!
A guy: This is NBC? I thought this was CBS! No wonder I couldn’t find The Price is Right!
Me: Thank God my bosses didn’t hear that sir or they could eject you from the studio!
Girl 2: I so wish you didn’t have to leave, can’t you stay for one more week?
Me: Nothin’ doin’. I got other projects elsewhere. Besides, I got a big project I’m launching real soon.
Guy 2: CAN I GET YOUR AUTOGRAPH?!
Me: Absolutely! What do you want me to sign?
Guy 2: My back! I had it shaved just so you can sign it!
(I give the guy a look)
Me: Uh, gee, I gotta get outta here soon before I have to start paying rent! Isaac, do something!
Isaac: Ok, come on folks. He needs a minute!
(The crowd reluctantly leaves the dressing room. I chuckle to myself and close the door. As I grab my suitcase, the phone rings)
Me: Hello?
Rick Rosner: Hello is this Immanuel?
Me: Speaking.
Rick: Hey, this is Rick Rosner, executive producer of the Match Game Hollywood Squares Hour. I have an offer for you. You know I saw you host Hollywood Squares for Tony Lane, I think you did pretty well, and the public did too!
Me: Gee, thanks!
Rick: We’re thinking of shaking up the NBC lineup this winter, how would you like to help bring back The New Hollywood Squares based on the Davidson format?
(I’m speechless)
Me: Me? Take John Davidson’s shoes? You know how much I love the Davidson version? Of course I’d do it! But…I don’t know if I’ll have time.
Rick: If you do it, I’ll get you that ‘88 Corvette you always wanted.
Me: I’ll do it!
(I slam the phone down)
Me (to the camera): Merry Christmas to me, and Merry Christmas to you all! Here’s the story of How the Squares stole Christmas!

Same to you and the stars. Well, I am from Spartanburg, SC. I am 35 years old. In my spare time, I love to watch classic and current game shows, play Mahjong for over 10 years, listen to news themes around the world, do word searches, love to sing, and listen to 80s music. Also, I have the Teen Titans rooting for me out in the audience.

Well, welcome to Los Angeles, Nels, the city of Angels...and winos. (Scattered laughter) Without any further delay, let's play some Hollywood Squares! You play it like Tic-Tac-Toe, meaning you gotta capture 3 squares in a row, whether that be...  Vertically... Horizontally... Diagonally, or you can even win by... Capturing the most squares...that's 5 out of the 9 squares on this board. How you capture a square is simple: the player in control will choose a star, to which I'll ask them a question. It's up to the player to determine whether the star is giving the correct answer, or is just plain lying! Do that, and you win the square. Now... Instead of each game being worth a certain amount of money, we're introducing a Christmas Cashpot for our holiday special! If the player in control captures a square, $100 gets added to the pot, unless the player captures the center square, to which $200 gets added to the pot. The player who wins the round wins all of the money in the pot, or $500 if the pot is less than that amount. Whoever is ahead after our third round will be declared our champion, and will go on to play for one of these 5 beautiful, classic Fords from the 1950's! (audience oohs, cheers) |
