You are correct! (word win cue) That "A" was a stopper. You now lead 2 words to one. Win one more word Immanuel and you're going on to the Scrabble Sprint against David. George, just as when I'm served a plain hamburger, I now say it's catch up time! Building off of the letter "I" this time, six letters in this next word and the clue is... He's a confirmed bachelor. I'm sensing a theme with these puzzles. George you can try to guess at it or you can take two tiles. Pink and blue bonus squares available.

Let's see if the T fits. (razzle) What do you want to do now George?

I will try the R.

I was hoping you would do that. (razzle) For $1,000 plus $200 for the word itself, and to tie up this game at two words apiece, can you solve it George?

Alright! (word win cue) Sensational! Time for me to pull out more of Bill's bills and here's... one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, one-thousand dollars! (Speedword sound effect) All tied up at 2 and 2. That means Speedword for this final word. George is going for a game to tie up the match, Immanuel is going for the game AND the match. $200 word, but it's worth double for you both, no bonus squares once we're into Speedword. We're building off of the letter "I", 7 letters in this last word and the clue is... For some people, it can be a real drag. Players, I need you both to PM to me how few additional letters you'll need to solve this word, as well as a buzz code in the event you both bid the same number of letters. You can bid as few as 0 letters or as much as 5 additional letters as we don't give you the last letter. PMs are due along with bids no later than 7:15pm EST on Tuesday, October 3rd.

Game, set and match.
(Win cue)
Immanuel, you will be playing the Scrabble Sprint in just a few moments.
First, George, I have to say again all of your incorrect guesses were really really good ones.
I was pleased you did hit that pink square when you did.
In addition to some very nice parting gifts, you have $1,350 in cash. Thank you very much for playing!
When we return, Immanuel is going to try to dethrone our current Sprint champion David Barkow.
It should prove to be another good one!
Back after this!

(music fade in) The time has come for our Scrabble Sprint round. David Barkow is our current champion with $9,575, Immanuel Tims is his challenger, Immanuel did very well in the crossword round, winning a total of $2,675, $1,000 of that was bonus tile money. So his base winnings of $1,675 have been added to the Scrabble Sprint base start of $500, meaning the winner of today's Scrabble Sprint will win another $2,175 plus earn the right to play the Bonus Tiles end game which could pay off as much as $20,000. You'll both be playing the same 4 words, Immanuel will go first and establish a time, and then David will have to try to beat that time. I'll remind both of you of the following rules: 1. All letters are good, no stoppers. 2. All letter selections will be given in the same order for both of you. 3. For each letter you place in the word, 1 "second" will go on the clock, or in David's case when he plays, 1 second will be deducted from the clock. 4. All deadlines to either solve the word or select a letter will be 48 hours (and change) and I will post the date and time each deadline is. 5. All deadline times will be Eastern Standard Time, a.k.a. EST. 6. Any missed deadline will add 2 "seconds" to the clock. 7. Any incorrect solve or misspelled word will invoke a 5 "second" penalty, so play quickly, but carefully. If there are no questions, I will do Immanuel's Sprint in PM and then David's Sprint will be played right here in the thread. Immanuel, as soon as I hear from you that you are ready to begin, I will PM you the first word and clue.

(Just a quick update FYI, Immanuel is now playing his 4th and final word in the Scrabble Sprint, and once he solves that last word, we'll play those same 4 words here with our champion David Barkow).

Okay David, Immanuel has finished all 4 words and needed a total of 17 on the clock to solve all 4. This means you'll have to do so with up to only 16 ticks off of the clock. First word is 5 letters and the clue is... They have gotten in and out of a lot of hairy situations. You have until 7:30pm EST on Tuesday, October 10th to either make your first letter selection or to offer a guess. Ready? Go!

If the stated deadline is not met, the clock will automatically count down by 2.

A little over 13 hours until the clock counts down by 2.
Also with each passing 24 hour time missed, it will count down by 1.
Last bump for David as there's been nothing posted by him in the vacation thread.
