We owe johnnyb a chance to play the Three in a Row bonus round -- and a chance for EaglesWings1975a to build on winnings from 3OAM's pilot last year. So -- John -- Chris -- come on up!

WOAI - SAN ANTONIO Staff announcer: "Night Court" -- tonight at 7.
(dramatic music plays) Steve Anderson: If you put $20 on the red.......$30 on the green......and $40 on the yellow......you could win $50,000 playing Three on a Match.("Jet Set" plays) Here's your host -- the star of Three on a Match -- Doug Morris!(audience cheers; Doug knocks on wall for good luck a la Bill Cullen) Thank you, Steve. Hellooooooo, everybody, and welcome to the new Three on a Match. (audience cheers) Today, we welcome back not one but two winners... ...Chris Chambers and John Bergman. (audience cheers) First, John Bergman made two matches on our debut episode. We owe John a chance to play Three in a Row. We'll get to that shortly. But first, an overdue welcome to Chris. We planned to have Chris in our debut -- but he was unavailable. Chris won $14,030 in our preview special. (audience cheers) Chris, in that preview, you lost your first game -- but then proceeded to make two matches. Because we had to start this series without you, we're going to do you a big favor. We'll not let that loss count against you here. (audience cheers) In that preview, we had a slightly different match structure, too. So, with that, Chris, please tell us about yourself.

Great to have you back. John's a cashier from Indiana -- and John, you look ready to put some more cash in your own till. Let's head over to the bonus area and give Three in a Row a try. (audience applause; theme plays) (Doug and John walk over to bonus area) John, you know how this works. But this is a new bonus game for many. So for those who haven't seen it, I'll explain for their benefit. Now for winning the game, John picked up $500... (ding)...and John will be using that money to spend here at the grid. We've randomly hidden the single digit numbers 1 through 9 in that grid. John will buy those numbers one at a time at the rate of $100. The moment three of those numbers are revealed in a row -- either horizontally, vertically, or diagonally -- we advance to the next phase in the bonus game for a chance to win up to $20,000, since John has made two matches thus far. *However*, John, should your first three picks end up in a row, you'll *instantly* win $50,000. (audience cheers)So -- good luck, John, and off you go.
John, I'd recommend buying at least two numbers to start. When picking numbers, please go traditional-ish by selecting "$100 on the (number)".

(ding) (scattered groans) Not so sweet -- bottom center. $50,000 bonus, obviously, is off the table. You can still make a lot of money with $300 to go.

Does this seal the deal? (ding) (scattered applause) No -- but got another corner. This means the center number wins. Top center still wins. Center right wins. The last remaining corner wins. The odds are in your favor, John. How do you spend your last Benjamin?

Does 9 make it fine? (ding; audience cheers) Yes! All right, John. You may have spent your last $100 bill. But nothing is about to turn into something. Hopefully in a big way. In addition to the single digit numbers, we attached various amounts of money to the boxes in the grid. One of those boxes does hide $20,000. (audience cheers)And maybe 20 large is attached to a number you bought. Here's what will happen. One at a time, you'll select up to three numbers you bought. You don't have to limit your picks to the bottom row. If the number's visible, it's in play. When you pick a number, we'll reveal the cash award behind the number. You'll then decide to stop the game and keep the cash -- or give it back to try and trade up toward the top prize of $20,000. Remember, after you decline two cash prizes, the third cash prize you *must* keep. So, good luck in finding the $20,000, John -- and please start the hunt by picking any visible number.

(audience cheers)John wants the $9000 and keep $9000. I'd probably do the same thing. But -- just for the heck of it, where was the $20,000? (ding)Opposite corner in 4. John, this gives you a total of $11,060. (audience cheers)And you could win $50,000 in the next game. Let's head back to home base. (theme plays; audience cheers) (Doug and John walk back to their respective podia) Okay, players, you know how our game is played. But for those who don't, the object is to solve a series of riddlegrams. What is a riddlegram? We've taken common phrases and titles -- and expressed them in other words. Some examples from our debut show. "Small Domicile Atop That Grassland" would be another way of saying that classic TV show "Little House on the Prairie". The price is two particular limbs -- is another way of saying "that'll cost you an arm and a leg". And Wacky Doubled Fours -- is another way of playing the card game Crazy Eights. Now we play riddlegrams five at a time. The winner of each five-riddlegram showdown banks cash. Bank enough cash -- and you may go to this grid where you could buy your way to victory. Before we can go to the grid, we've got to see what we have in the way of categories. (board opens) We're starting this game with Musical Questions, Super Trainor, and General Info. John, as you'll notice the spelling in the middle category, which would you like?

Musical Questions.

Post by dougmorrisontheair on Mar 4, 2023 10:33:42 GMT -5
Starting with Musical Questions worth... (ding) (scattered woos) ...yes -- a generous $100 and two free boxes. These riddlegrams lead to titles of songs expressed in the form of a question. 1. "What Person Allowed Those Canines to Roam Free?"
2. "Hey Siri, Can I Get Directions Toward the NHL's Shark's Home City?"
3. "Is Not That Lady Adoreable?"
4. "What Is That Recurrence, Dan Rather?"
5. "What Is Not Old, Puddy Tat?"
Chris and John, for each riddlegram, please PM me your answer and a buzzcode from 1-100.

1. "What Person Allowed Those Canines to Roam Free?-- EaglesWings1975a 57 johnnyb 21 random.org (John rings in)Doug: John? John: "Who Let The Dogs Out?" Doug: That's right. nelson21 johnnyb
2. "Hey Siri, Can I Get Directions Toward the NHL's Shark's Home City?" 25 EaglesWings1975a -- johnnyb 67 random.org
(Chris rings in)
Doug: Chris?
Chris: Do you know the way to san Jose?
Doug: Yes! The great Dionne Warwick classic.
nelson21 johnnyb
Doug: Tied at one. Next one.
3. "Is Not That Lady Adoreable?" -- EaglesWings1975a 02 johnnyb 02 random.org
(John rings in)
Doug: John?
John: "Isn't She Lovely?"
Doug: That's it.
nelson21 johnnyb
Doug: Just need one more to win the showdown, John. Chris, need this for the tie.
4. "What Is That Recurrence, Dan Rather?" -- EaglesWings1975a 17 johnnyb 74 random.org
(John rings in)
Doug: John to clinch the showdown.
John: "What's The Frequency, Kenneth?"
Doug: That's right.
nelson21 johnnyb
(scattered cheers)
Doug: However, we still have one more to go. Chris, even though you're not going to win this showdown, you're well aware every point does translate to $10. So with that, here's the last riddlegram.
5. "What Is Not Old, Puddy Tat?" 39 EaglesWings1975a -- johnnyb 73 random.org
(Chris rings in)
Doug: Chris?
Chris: Are you the new bird?
Doug: Oh no. And after getting the Dionne Warwick riddlegram, I figured you'd get this Tom Jones musical question. "What's New, Pussycat?" So, John picks up that point.
(audience cheers)
Doug: John, you win $100 for the showdown. We now award, as promised, $10 a point to each player.
John, quickly you're up to $140...
...and we also have a matter of two free boxes. If you want to use these freebies, you must go to the grid now. Want to go to the grid for the win or pick a new category?

You'll have to drain your account to less than $20 before you can use the freebies. So, with that, good luck. John: $20 on the Green. (ding)Doug: We're dealing with hats on this board.
