Bryan, first let me share with you and the rest of the class the revised Pot Limit rules digest that I just completed here at 5am
POT LIMIT RULES
January 21, 2023
A maximum of seven hands are played.
The contestant has his/her own deck of 54 cards. It is a standard 52 card deck plus 2 Jokers.
Any time a Joker turns up from the player's deck, the wager is won as the Joker is a wild card.
Before the round is played, the contestant will be asked to cut that deck by selecting a number higher than 0 but lower than 54.
That number will determine how deep into the deck the cards should be cut.
The game board is a special deck of 14 cards. The cards 2 through Ace are on the board one time each, plus
one Joker, which is a wild card.
Ace is always high, 2 (Deuce) is always low.
The player will get to select anywhere from 3 to 5 cards from the game board. The highest and lowest
cards revealed will then determine the split, and the contestant will make his/her wager based on that split.
The player will then make a wager that the top card from his deck of 54 cards will fit the split, in other words
the card will be higher than the low card in the split, but lower than the high card in the split.
(e.g. High Card - Jack, Low Card - 4, if the player's card is a 7 they would win their bet).
The player begins with $300 of new money to bet with.
Minimum bets are $50, and all bets must be made in $50 increments.
During the first three hands of play, the player will get to select four of the fourteen cards from the
game board to establish the split.
Also during the first three hands of play, a tie goes to the player.
(e.g. Ace high, 3 low and the player's card is an Ace or a 3).
To help the player out, the player will have at least three "EXTRA" picks to use as his discretion.
More "EXTRA" picks could be earned during the front game, but the player will always have at least 3.
Only one "EXTRA" pick from the 14 card game board may be used during any given hand.
The longer the player can hold off on using those extra picks, the better, but sometimes they may
want or really need to use them earlier in the Pot Limit game.
After the third hand has been completed, or if the player runs out of betting money during the first
three hands of play, the player will receive an additional $600 in betting money for the next three hands.
During those next three hands, the player will only get to draw three cards from the fourteen on the
game board to establish the split.
Also during those next three hands, a tie card is a push. In other words the wager made is neither won
nor lost.
After the sixth hand is played, or if the player runs out of money beforehand, the final hand is played.
The final hand is the "Major Wager" and the player must bet at least half of his bankroll.
Another $1,000 is added to the player's total before the Major Wager hand is played.
Again, only three cards from the gameboard will be selected to establish the split.
For the Major Wager only, if the player's card ties with either card of the split, their wager is LOST.
If during the final Major Wager hand the player's card is a Joker, not only will they have their wager added
to their bank total, but they will win a special Joker's Jackpot.
The Joker's Jackpot starts at $25,000 and grows by $1,000 each time it is not won. Once it is won, it resets
back to $25,000 again.
Those are the updated rules Bryan and friends. Bryan, do you have any questions? If not, please select a number higher than 0 but lower than 54 to establish how deep into your deck we will cut it.
