Following my announcement earlier, we will now begin our first installment of Throwback Wheel. Now, we had an unfinished daytime game in which Immanuel was the champion, so I am extending an invitation to him to play this game. Should he accept, I will need two challengers for him. If not, then we will need three. Either way, sign ups are now open.

We have our three. All deadlines are 48 hours and away we go. (cue intro) Wheel! Of! Fortune! (1992 version of Changing Keys plays) Jim: From Television City, it's everyone's favorite game show. Filled with fun, laughter, excitement, surprises, and suspense. Wheeeeeeeeeeel Of Fortune! And here are the stars of our show, Mark Liotta and Rachel Reynolds! (Rachel and I come out from behind the wheel to a tremendous applause) Me: Thanks, Jim! And thank you too, audience. (Rachel and I head to our spots; theme fades out) Welcome to a different sort of Wheel. We call it Throwback Wheel because a lot of the amounts you'll be seeing on the wheel are from the golden age of the show that we call the 90s. We'll get to all of that in a moment, but first we have some players to meet, including one Mike Foy from Thunder Bay, Ontario. What do you do up in Thunder Bay?

Those sound like very fun classes. Good luck with those. Immanuel Tims is a high school student. Says here that you're actively involved with theater at your school. How did that interest in theater come about?

Oh man. I’ve had it for years, ever since middle school I’ve been a part of every production my schools have done, but I’ve loved the arts ever since I was tiny.

So you have a very strong passion for theater then, which is nice to see. Nels Snesrud comes to us from Minnesota. Still works as a Target cashier according to my card. How's that job treating you?

You're quite welcome. Best of luck to you here as we put you and our other two players to work here. $1500 is the top amount available in round 1, so plenty of cash to play for. (1989 prize cue) And a terrific prize to play for as well. Let's find out about that from mister Jim Thornton. Jim: Mister Thornton. Very professional, I like that. (scattered laughter) Players, our feature prize this round is a selection of video games. 20 of the very greatest Nintendo Switch games are available to play on your Nintendo Switch OLED console. Game selection includes Mario Odyssey, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Kirby and the Forgotten Land, and much more. Two pro controllers and two sets of Joy Cons are included. A prize the whole family can enjoy. $3,475! (audience applauds) Me: All very good games too, I might add. (Camera zooms in on the prize wedge, marked VIDEO GAMES) There's that prize, players. Hopefully one of you is a game enthusiast around here. I know I am. And let's see our first puzzle of the night. (category reveal chimes)
_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _/_ _/_ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ THE FORTIES Looks like we're stepping into the Wheel Of Fortune time machine and heading to the forties. Just before the show, we drew numbers to see who would start our game. And it'll be my fellow Canadian Mike that has the honor, so give the wheel a good spin and good luck.
