And places, everyone...
Jim Thornton: Heart, club, diamond or spade, Call 'em right, you've got it made on... And now, here is the host of Card Sharks, Kevin Kolsen!
Me: Hey, hey! Welcome to Card Sharks! Thank you for joining us for episode 57 of this run. We have cash and perhaps a car to give away. Four people on stage will help me do that. Two of them are our models, Charlene and Terri. They're dealing the cards for our Card Sharks, and here they come now!
*Immanuel and Raymond run to their podiums* We welcome back Immanuel Tims first. He's already won $2,650.
*applause* Says here on my card you scored the lead in your school play. How's that going for you?

It’s going well! We set to open next Friday, and considering this is my first time doing Shakespeare, I’m very excited!

As we say in show business, break a leg. Not literally, of course. You're being challenged by Raymond Weaver. You're a bagel shop employee from Virginia Beach. Tell me, what's that like?

It’s literally one second it’s dead and the next there’s a line out the door.

Ah, I get rushes like that at work, too. Except they're seasonal. I know the experience. Let's play Card Sharks!
IMMANUEL [C*S][C*S][C*S][C*S][C*S] RAYMOND [C*S][C*S][C*S][C*S][C*S]
Each of you has your own deck of playing cards shuffled and cut before we started taping. You must predict whether your next card will be higher or lower than the one preceding it. First to two victories goes to the Money Cards. To earn the right to play, you need to win control of a high-low question. These are designed to judge your ability on human nature. Immanuel, as champ, you get to answer the first one. We surveyed 100 people:
"Can you fit a car into your garage?"
Immanuel, how many people answered yes?

I feel like a lot of people would, the average car isn't that big, so I'll say 58

58 people said they can fit a car into their garage.
*ding*
Raymond, higher or lower than that?

I think that number is gonna be a little higher.

Higher you say. Actual number of people who can fit a car into their garage is...
*dingdingding* 61! Raymond, you were right on the money! It was just a little higher. That of course depends on how big the car and the garage are. IMMANUEL [C*S][C*S][C*S][C*S][C*S] RAYMOND [C*S][C*S][C*S][C*S][C*S] First call of the game goes to Raymond. IMMANUEL [C*S][C*S][C*S][C*S][C*S] RAYMOND [2 ♣][C*S][C*S][C*S][C*S] You have a two!

Higher than the deuce you say...
IMMANUEL [C*S][C*S][C*S][C*S][C*S] RAYMOND [2 ♣][Q ♣][C*S][C*S][C*S] *ding*
And it's a Queen!

For an early Round 1 victory, is it higher?
IMMANUEL [C*S][C*S][C*S][C*S][C*S] RAYMOND [2 ♣][Q ♣][J ♠][5 ♦][3 ♠] No, it isn't! *buzzer* With the luck you had, everything was going great. And then that happened. You go all the way back...
IMMANUEL [C*S][C*S][C*S][C*S][C*S] RAYMOND [2 ♣][___][___][___][___] And you've given Immanuel a free chance to call off... IMMANUEL [3 ♦][C*S][C*S][C*S][C*S] RAYMOND [2 ♣][___][___][___][___] ...a three.

Alrighty, then...
—————|IMMANUEL [3 ♦][9 ♣][C*S][C*S][C*S] RAYMOND [2 ♣][___][___][___][___] Middle card, but it gives Immanuel a slight advantage as we go to our next high-low question. Immanuel, Raymond, please direct your attention to the audience. We'll ask our special polling group to stand up. Thank you very much. Our special polling group this time consists of ten teachers. Before the show, we asked each of them this question.
"On a day when it's too snowy for children to be in school, should they be off or distance-learning?"
Raymond, how many teachers said students should be distance-learning if it's too snowy for school?

It depends on what the conditions are as far as if there’s power or not, I’m gonna say 45 should do it.

4 teachers think students should be distance learning on a snowy day.

Well, I’m from L.A. where it never snows. The worst we have is super heavy rain and we still have school. But I know that snow days shouldn’t last for too long either, despite all of this though I say higher because of the odds.

You say higher. *ding* Of the ten teachers, the actual number of them who told us kids should be distance-learning if it's too snowy for school is... *dingdingding* Only one of them! Well, I guess just because we have technology doesn't mean we have to adapt. Now, I'm not going to single out that one teacher, so I'll talk to one of the other nine. Any volunteers? *one teacher raises her hand* Me: Okay, so you said kids should have a snow day and be off. Is that right? Teacher: Yes. I had to adjust during the pandemic, but I think kids should still be kids. They should be playing in the snow instead of going to school. Me: Fair point. I work from home sometimes on a snow day, but the difference is I'm grown. Thank you all for answering this question. We may have another one lined up in Round 2. —————|IMMANUEL [3 ♦][9 ♣][C*S][C*S][C*S] RAYMOND [2 ♣][C*S][C*S][C*S][C*S] Raymond, you get to try again off your deuce.
