15 years ago already...have mercy....Friday, June 15th, 2007, CBS aired Bob Barker's final first run episode as host of "The Price is Right", a job he held for 35 seasons.
Alex Trebek surpassed Barker as "Jeopardy!" host having hosted it for 36 full seasons before sadly passing during season 37.
Pat Sajak is now the longevity standard bearer, having hosted "Wheel of Fortune" for 39 seasons in syndication, and close to 41 in total, having taken over in very late December 1981 on NBC.
Drew has hosted Price for 15 seasons now already himself. To put that into perspective, Bob Barker did not stop dying his hair dark until early in season 16.
Bob is now 98, turning 99 in December. That he hosted the show until age 83 is quite a remarkable feat in and of itself, both physically and mentally.
At the risk of dating my own self, Bob's first episode on Labor Day way back in 1972, was 2 days before I began my first day of Kindergarten. I remember watching it, as well as The Joker's Wild and Gambit debuts on CBS on our old black and white set. 1972 B.C. (Before Cable).
This year, 2022, the day before Labor Day will be September 4th, and will mark Price's official 50th birthday. It's stunning to me just how quickly half a century went for me, especially these past 23 years being a parent.
