(CLANGA-CLANGA-CLANGA!) For this subject, I'll name three famous people, and you tell me the college they all graduated from. Choose one of these conferences (BONG-BONG-BONG!).
IVY LEAGUE for $300 SOUTHEASTERN CONFERENCE for $400 BIG TEN for $500

Everyone is in.
MICHAEL ($1,900): SOUTHEASTERN CONFERENCE for $400 KEVIN ($1,100): IVY LEAGUE for $300 KORI ($100): BIG TEN for $500
Everyone chose his own question. Kevin will be first, then Michael, then Kori. Kevin, for $300...
President Woodrow Wilson, Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, and actress Brooke Shields all graduated from what prestigious university?

Me: If that was a guess...audience?
Audience: IT WAS A GOOD ONE!
Me: That's my catchphrase! And that's the right answer (applause as Kevin smiles). You're up to $1,400. Michael, here's your $400 question on the SEC.
Humorist Lewis Grizzard, singer and game show host Bill Anderson, and MMA fighter Forrest Griffin all rooted for the Bulldogs during their time at what university?

You're over $2,000...the University of Georgia is right. Over to Kori and his $500 question on the BIG TEN.
Entertainer Hoagy Carmichael, actor Kevin Kline, and newscaster Jane Pauley all wore the crimson and cream of what Midwestern university?

(Cringing) No...right state, wrong university. It was INDIANA UNIVERSITY (audience awws). Allow me to explain. Indiana University (or IU) is in Bloomington, IN, but Indiana State, a completely different university, is in Terre Haute. That's why I can't take your answer. You lose $500, but there's still plenty of time, Kori. Michael is at $2,300, Kevin is at $1,400, and Kori is at -$400. Michael gets the choice of...

Michael, you're up first. For $300...
A common side dish in German cooking is this dish of miniature egg noodles or dumplings whose name comes from the German word meaning "sparrows." Name the dish.

Good for $300! Kevin and Kori, step up to the $400 challenge on MEATS.
One of the staples of German cooking is the over 1,500 varieties of sausage found on virtually all German menus. Almost all of them have names that end in this 5-letter word, which means "sausage" in German. What's the word?

Right! (Applause) Michael at $2,600, Kevin at $1,400, and Kori is out of the hole. Last subject of the round is THE BOLLYWOOD SHUFFLE (CLANGA-CLANGA-CLANGA!), which is our Who, What, or Where question for today (BONG-BONG-BONG!).
WHERE? for $300 WHO? for $400 WHAT? for $500

Here's what we've got.
MICHAEL ($2,600): WHERE? for $300 KEVIN ($1,400): WHAT? for $500 KORI ($0): WHERE? for $300
Michael and Kori, step up to the $300 challenge on WHERE?.

Mumbai is the modern day name of the city, but we would have also accepted Bombay. Either way, we'll add another $300. Kevin, this question is yours only.
One of the most popular Bollywood films in the U.S. is this 2004 film starring former Miss World Aishwarya Rai in her English language film debut. It's a modernized, musical adaptation of a Jane Austen novel. Just change the novel's first letter to a "B," and you'll have the movie's title. What is the exact title of that movie?

(EHH-EHH!) Time. We'll have to count that as a wrong answer. The Jane Austen novel was "Pride and Prejudice," so replace the first letter with a B, and you get...
"BRIDE AND PREJUDICE." (End of round cue plays as theme begins)
That's the end of Round One! Michael has $2,900, Kevin drops down to $900, and Kori has $0, but stranger things have happened. When we come back, we'll play Round Two, where we double the dollars, double the fun, and double the challenge! Stay with us!

(Theme plays)
Don Morrow: We're back with more of "The Challengers" and Jonathan Darrall!
Me: Thanks, Don! Michael has forged ahead once again, but as we go to Round Two, questions are now worth $600, $800, or $1,000. As a reminder, if all three of you choose the same category, we'll double all categories and give one of you the chance to really pile up the money. As Michael knows, this can add up fast. Speaking of adding up, Michael has the lead over Kevin by $2,000, while Kori has nothing. Kori, since you have the lowest score, you get the choice of these six subjects. Please turn to the video wall and notice these...(subject reveal cue)

Kori by himself on the $1,000 question. Michael and Kevin, step up to the $800 challenge on 1912.
On April 16, 1912, just a day after the sinking of the Titanic, aviation history was made when Harriet Quimby, America's first aviatrix, became the first woman to fly across what 30-mile-wide European body of water?
