Here's the thirtiest episode of High Rollers! To celebrate this milestone, our numbers board will get a major overhaul. I was intending to alter the rules, but I'm sticking with the classic ones. Maybe another time. Matt is our 2-time champion with $74,042 accumulated in cash and (mostly) prizes. Guess what? We lost the Big Numbers again. Jackpot grows to $29,000. (overall record: 3-26) James expressed his wish to play this episode, so signups for this episode are closed. However, I always accept signups for future episodes. I need Matt and James to privately send me 15 rollcodes (1-36 inclusive) and publicly check in here.

(intro) Here's the game of high stakes! Where every decision is a gamble and every move could be your last... HIGH ROLLERS!
(cheers and applause) And now, here's your host... Clément!
(more cheers as I enter the stage with the hostess - I really have to give her a name) Good morning and welcome to High Rollers! 30th episode today, I'm really glad this lasted that long, and to celebrate, we have a brand-new board, which is under a curtain as of now. If you want to buy the old board, it's on sale and the product of this sale will go to a charity. (applause) Now, before we unveil the board, let's go to the contestants' podiums where stand our two contestants for the day... Our new player, James, and our 2-time champion, Matt! (cheers and applause) We always start the presentations with the champion. In two days, he's already won $74,042 in cash and prizes, he's a supermarket courtesy clerk from Council Bluffs, Iowa, please welcome Matt! (cheers and applause) How do you feel today?

I'd bet you do! You defeated a 14-time champion and your first challenger, and you'll play against another one today... Please welcome James. (applause)
Welcome to High Rollers, James. Please tell us about yourself.

Good luck to you, James and Matt. Now, my promise is my duty... Here's the new board! (my hostess takes off the curtain, not without problems) (cheers and applause) Isn't that beautiful? (more cheers, some audience members yell "Prizes missing!") As you can see, it features at the top a new odds chart as a tool to help contestants to decide whether to roll or pass. Indeed, it misses some prizes. As you can see, Column 1 is full. Column 2 is empty, what do we have? You're going to play Love Letters for a new car! A potential value of $13,270!(cheers and applause) What could be better on a Valentine's day to play Love letters? Finally, Column 3 is not full, we need a new prize. We're adding to your exterior package a new barbecue! Blend the beauty of the great outdoors with the functionality of a custom kitchen with this high performance grill. The Weber Summit S-460 built-in gas grill has got everything you need for a variety of cooking activities including a rotisserie, sear, smoker burner, and spacious grilling surface. A prize worth $2,099, making the value of Column 3 $7,897!(applause) A game, a full column and a nearly-full one. This must be an expensive board, is it? The potential value of the board is $34,543!(cheers and applause) Indeed a very nice board. Let's load the numbers! Hot Column for this game is Column 1, lighted in red. If you clear all three numbers at once, you'll win that $13,000-more prize package, plus a cash bonus up to $5,000! (cheers and applause) Here's the first question. Los Angeles, C alifornia or Austin, Texas: Where will the next Summer X Games take place? (buzzcode 1-100 and answer or pass)

(Matt passes) James, your answer? Austin, TX.Correct! Let's take your first roll of the day... It's a six. How do you want to play it?

There it goes. Second question. What 19th-century author wrote The Purloined Letter?

Both contestants sent the same buzzcode (62), go to heads or tails... Matt, your answer? Edgar Allen Poe.That's Edgar All an Poe, but I'll accept it. Roll the dice. (double SFX, cheers and applause) It's a double! Here's an insurance marker for you... I'm required to ask, but... How do you want to play that 8?

(audience groaning, booing and throwing some tomatoes) The hot column was available, but you chose to go somewhere else. Instead of getting an instant $500 in cash, you get a dry cleaning invoice. (laughs) That breaks the Hot Column and the possibility of a cash bonus. Let's see if it pays off. A squash ball is bigger than, smaller than or equal in diameter to a table tennis ball?

Actual code: 83 1st: Matt (57) 2nd: James (42) Matt? Bigger.
No, that's incorrect. It's the same size, a diameter of 40 millimetres. James, you get to roll the dice. All rolls are good. (double SFX, cheers and applause) Boxcars! It's a double! Here's an insurance marker for you too... One insurance marker each. How do you want to play that 12?

(applause) I wonder what their reaction would be if you chose 8 and 4. (laughs) That clears Column 2! (cheers and applause) If you win this game, James, you'll play Love Letters for a chance at a new car. As you can see on the odds chart, we have a first bad roll off the board, so every question from now on could be the last of this first game. Question #4. True or false: There is a U.S. embassy in North Korea.

Actual code: 15 1st: Matt (24) 2nd: James (57) Matt, your answer? True. No, there's no U.S. embassies in Pyongyang or somewhere else there. What did you expect? (laughs) James, 3 is the only bad roll. With one insurance marker in hand each, you both have a 99.7% chance of rolling something good. But you never know. What's your decision?

Roll!

Post by CCSCO on Feb 18, 2015 19:31:30 GMT -5
Just avoid the three, and you're good. It's a seven. Let's take off 5 and 2. Two numbers left on the board, and someone could clear the whole board on this roll of the dice. Pay attention... Cuba, Bahamas or Jamaica: On what current country did Christopher Colombus land when he discovered America for the first time in 1492?

|
|
Post by CCSCO on Feb 19, 2015 2:03:15 GMT -5
Actual code: 77 1st: James (65) 2nd: Matt (93) James, your answer? Bahamas.Colombus Island is there, indeed. That's correct. Now James, you have one insurance marker as well as Matt, there are three good rolls: 4, 8 and 12. Whoever rolls a 12 clears the board and automatically wins the first game. What do you want to do?

Post by CCSCO on Feb 19, 2015 14:36:35 GMT -5
All right. Matt, the dice are yours. If you roll a 12, you win the game. 4 or 8, you clear either column and we go to a final question. Anything else, you lose. You have two chances to roll something good. Good luck! (buzzer, groans) It's a nine, one away. Last chance... (cheers and applause) It's an eight! Take it off! That clears Column 3! If you win this game, Matt, you'll take home this exterior package valued at nearly $8,000. That cost you your insurance marker, but you're still in this. Last question for Game 1: True or false: One euro coin has a face value of 25¢.

Actual code: 53 1st: James (56) 2nd: Matt (41) James? Pass. No, James, you did buzz so I need an answer. It's a coin toss if you don't know, so you can try something... (James, next time you want to pass, just send me the word "pass" with no buzzcode, there's no penalty for passing)

You went the other way. It's false. Instead, we have in Europe a 20¢ coin.
Matt, whoever rolls a 4 wins the game, whoever rolls anything else loses. You only have one chance to roll it, James has two. What's your pleasure?

All right. James, the dice are yours. Two chances to roll a 4 and clear the board. Good luck! (buzzer, groans) You have to surrender your insurance marker too. Last chance... (buzzer, groans) One away... Matt wins the first game! (cheers and applause) Matt, not only you've won the first game, but you've also won the barbecue, the tent, the bike and the ATV! (cheers and applause) A little less than $82,000 of winnings right now for you. James, don't despair, there's a second game and you'll need it to force a tie-breaker. Second game right after these messages. (fade out)

(fade in) Welcome back to our 30th of High Rollers! Matt has won the first game against James, but the game is far from over. Column 3 has been cleared by Matt, so we need a new prize in it... It's a trip to London! You and a guest will fly round-trip coach from Los Angeles to London, England for a 6-night stay in the Sofitel London Heathrow. Connected via a covered walkway to Terminal 5, this London Heathrow Airport hotel is a 20-minute train ride to Central London. La Belle Époque offers fine dining and Vivre features open kitchens with live cooking in the evenings. You'll sleep in a prestige suite including free wi-fi access, breakfast buffet and parking for your luxury rental car! A prize worth $7,848!(cheers and applause) Nice! What's the potential value of the board? The potential value of the board is $34,494!Let's load it please... Hot Column for this game is Column 3. If you roll an eight and clear all three numbers at once, it could be a trip to London and $5,000 in cash. If you don't win the game, that's still $500 for the Hot Column. First question of Game 2. What is the name of Noddy's dog?
