=================================================================================== [WILD CHEERS AND APPLAUSE]*host walks from audience all the way to stage* Tony: Thank you, Jim Thornton! Good evening, everybody! And welcome to our live special presentation of Celebrity Gambit. For those of you who haven't watched this show before... this is a special prime time edition based on a very long running daytime game of skill, fate, and fortune. And in the next 59 minutes, you'll be seeing two legendary game show hosts play for their favorite charities. Before we meet tonight's stars, let's meet our hostess/card dealer. She was a regular in our daytime version one season ago before making her return to the small screen. And guess what? She's back. From "9-1-1" on the other network, please give it up for the one and only Jennifer Love Hewitt! [WILD CHEERS AND APPLAUSE]Jennifer: Good evening, Las Vegas! It's great to be back! I'm truly honored to be your card dealer for one night only. Let's meet our two legendary game show hosts... [CONTESTANTS' INTRO]Contestant number 1 is the host of a brand new game show "Spin-Off" right here on CBS. Please welcome DOUG MORRIS![CHEERS AND APPLAUSE]And contestant number 2 is not only Mr. center square of the "Match Game/Hollywood Squares Hour"... but also the host of "Your Number's Up" on NBC. Please welcome... it's he... BILL McDEE![MORE CHEERS AND APPLAUSE]Tony: Thanks, Jennifer. While she's getting herself comfy and preparing the deck, let's meet our hosts for a moment starting with Bill. Please tell us about you and the charity you're playing for.

Hi and thanks so much Tony!
My charity is the American Cancer Society. Cancer has claimed several of my own loved ones during my life, and countless others, so I am eager to raise money toward this organization and this dreadful disease.

And Doug, please tell us about you and the charity you're playing for.

Playing for Habitat for Humanity -- which builds homes for families who are writing their comeback stories.
Oddly enough, the Rancho Cucamonga Country Club and I are hosting the Habitat *Fore* Humanity Celebrity Golf Championship. So I'll be raising money for that fine organization next month in Cucamonga -- and here on Gambit.

And I wish you and Habitat for Humanity the very best of luck, Doug. The object of the game is to get closer to 21 without going over. Each correct answer is worth $100 and whoever comes closer to 21 (or have your opponent busted) earns an additional $500. And whoever wins the best 3 out of 5 rounds will be playing along with tonight's caller at the Gambit Board. Let's take a look at the big money board on my podium... [CLANG]The player who has a combination of at least three cards and it adds 21, wins the Any 21 Jackpot of $5,000. [CHEERS AND APPLAUSE]But... if you get an Ace and either a 10 or face card, you will win the Blackjack Bonus of $25,000! [LOUDER CHEERS AND APPLAUSE]And before the start of the show, the lab rats at RANDOM.ORG and PriceWaterhouseCoopers have given Jennifer a deck of 54 super sized playing cards that were shuffled, cut, and sealed. Jenn will now break the seal as we begin round 1 with the first card up for grabs. Jenny...? Jennifer: Our first card in round 1 is an 8. Tony: Hands on your signal device... here comes this very first question. Wine, Sport, or Churches-- Adelaide is known throughout Australia as the "City Of..." what?* You have 24 hours to PM your buzz-code between 1 and 100. No strike penalties.

Buzz-code answer: 17 1st: DOUG (24) 2nd: BILL (32) [BUZZ-IN]Doug...? Doug: Churches? Tony: Guess what...? You're right for 100. [APPLAUSE, DING]You got your first hundred bucks in the game, Doug. Do you want to keep that 8 or pass it to Bill?

The Blackjack Bonus is out of play for Doug. However, he'll have a chance to win $5,000 for a 21 victory. From here on in, Jennifer will not reveal her next card unless someone wins this next question. Here it comes... Spaghetti and meatballs, peas and carrots, or bread and butter-- In the film "Forrest Gump" what foods did Forrest use to describe Jenny and himself?

Buzz-code answer: 58 1st: BILL (84) 2nd: DOUG (12) [BUZZ-IN]Bill...? Bill: Peas & carrots. Tony: Peas & carrots are correct. [APPLAUSE, DING]This time, you have $100 and a decision. Do you want to keep the card or pass it to Doug?

Post by billmcdee on Mar 1, 2020 13:11:48 GMT -5
I'll keep this card please Tony. Come on Ace or Face!

Post by tmann3x on Mar 1, 2020 17:35:53 GMT -5
Bill is keeping the card. Jennifer, please reveal Bill's first card. Jennifer: Bill's first card is a 10! [CHEERS AND APPLAUSE]Tony: If Bill answers the next question right and that next card is an Ace, he'll win the $25,000 Blackjack Bonus and the first round of the match. Next question... Portugal, Italy, or Spain-- Vasco da Gama, who discovered a sea route in the 15th century to India around the continent of Africa, was from what European country?

Buzz-code answer: 35 1st: DOUG (24) 2nd: BILL (15) [BUZZ-IN]Doug...? Doug: Portugal. Tony: Portugal is correct. [APPLAUSE, DING]200 for you, Doug. We hope that your next card is either a 2 or 3. Do you want the next card or pass it to Bill?

Doug is keeping that card. Jennifer, please reveal Doug's next card. Jennifer: It's a 5. Tony: You now have a total of 13. Before I read the next question, you have a decision to make. Do you want to continue the round or freeze?

OK then... here comes the next question. This is a long one... so pay close attention.
She took the sword of a defeated English duke, the king had one made for her from meteorite metal, or her voices told her to look for a sword hidden behind a church altar-- How did Joan of Arc acquire a sword?

[TIME UP BUZZER]Time's up... and Doug misses the 24 hour deadline. Bill, do you have the answer? Bill: She took the sword of a defeated English duke. Tony: The correct answer was her voices told her to look for a sword hidden behind a church altar. We can't award the 100 bucks to Doug since he had missed the deadline. So let's move on to a new question. The North Atlantic Ocean, the South Atlantic Ocean, or the Arctic Ocean-- In which ocean did the Titanic sink?
