I want to thank our three hosts again for playing Wheel of Fortune. We raised $57,600 for charity tonight. Now, I have mentioned this in passing since I've been hosting games on Net Game Central. Everyone has their own story to tell about how cancer has affected their lives, so I'm going to tell mine. In November 2009, my mom at the age of 53 was diagnosed with stage two esophageal cancer. It came as a shock to everyone in the family especially because she had no family history of it. Thanks to it being caught early, she got the treatments she needed and has been cancer-free since May 2010. While we all want to do our part in helping those with cancer, it's also taught me how early detection can make a difference in saving lives.
In addition to my mom's courage, I also can't forget Alex Trebek whose progress against stage four pancreatic cancer has been nothing short of a miracle. His positive attitude in the face of despair serves as an inspiration to us all. To prove how dedicated he has been in keeping up the fight, he meant it when he said he was more afraid of letting his fans down than his diagnosis. It also shows us that prayer no matter what your faith may be is a powerful thing. This is why, along with being inspired by asja2002 on Bill McDee's Three on a Match special, that I personally am going to make a donation out of my own pocket to the three charities our hosts played for tonight. One percent of every dollar from this show will go to the representative charities: $100 each to the Alzheimer’s Association and Marie Curie and $376 to the American Cancer Society. In times of trouble, anyone can use a helping hand no matter how big or how small so I'm extending mine as well. Goodbye, everyone. We'll see you as we celebrate 100 episodes next time on Wheel of Fortune!
Vanna: Bye-bye! Jim: Wheel of Fortune was created by Merv Griffin, produced by Sony Pictures Television, distributed by CBS Television Distribution.
