Yes, sir...
[MATT][$0] [3/13]|[A♣][2♠]
That gives him a 3 or 13 for his hand. Here is the next question:
"On a given year, if Thanksgiving falls on November 24th then on what day of the week is Christmas?"
BUZZ: 43 1st: Matt (63) 2nd: Michael K. (84)
Matt this time.

They'd be 31 days apart, so four weeks and three days would have Christmas on Sunday, you're right!
[MATT][$100] [3/13]|[A♣][2♠]
You have $100 and control of this card.
[Q♦]
Charlene: It's a Queen!
Matt, is that your Queen or Michael's?

|
|
Post by mringgenberg on Mar 27, 2015 20:50:18 GMT -5
I have to take it.
|
|
|
Post by koopakid17 on Mar 27, 2015 20:53:16 GMT -5
Okay, that will give you a hard thirteen...
[MATT][$100] [_13_]|[A♣][2♠][Q♦]
The next question is as follows:
"What is the capital of Nova Scotia?"
BUZZ: 59 Matt (39) Michael K. (13)
Matt?

You are correct, another $100 for you...
[MATT][$200] [_13_]|[A♣][2♠][Q♦]
Matt, you are in a position to bust on the next card. Do you want to freeze at 13 or have Charlene deal another card?
|
|
|
Post by mringgenberg on Mar 27, 2015 22:34:30 GMT -5
I'm going to take the risk and take one more card.
|
|
|
Post by koopakid17 on Mar 27, 2015 22:50:02 GMT -5
All right, you may do what you wish with this card. Deal it, Charlene...
[3♠]
Charlene: It's a three.
Me: What will you do, Matt?
|
|
|
Post by mringgenberg on Mar 27, 2015 22:58:48 GMT -5
I'll freeze this time.
|
|
|
Post by koopakid17 on Mar 28, 2015 11:36:19 GMT -5
You mean take the card and freeze? If you pass the card, you can't freeze.
|
|
|
Post by mringgenberg on Mar 28, 2015 12:43:49 GMT -5
Yes. Take it and freeze.
|
|
|
Post by koopakid17 on Mar 28, 2015 23:32:10 GMT -5
Okay, then. You're going to freeze at 16...
[MATT][$200] [_16_]|[A♣][2♠][Q♦][3♠]
Now, Michael K., there are no ties in Catch 21. You need 17 or higher to move onto Round 3. You currently have ten and this card from Charlene. Deal the card.
[10♥]
Charlene: It's a ten!
Me: Congratualtions, Michael!
[MICHAEL K.][$600] [_20_]|[K♣][10♥]
$500 for that and you're moving onto the next round with $600. Matt, we thank you for playing. You're leaving us with $200. We'll be back with Round 3 after this!

Welcome back, we're in the middle of another great game here on Catch 21. We have Michael C. with $900 and Michael K. has $600. The winner of this round will play the bonus round for that chance at up to $25,000. You're still looking to get a 21 here because it's worth an extra power chip if you get there. For now, we have to deal you two some hands. Michael C., this is your card:
[A♠]
Charlene: It's an Ace!
[MICHAEL C.][$900] [1/11]|[A♠]
Me: How about that? That's going to be hard to top. Charlene, deal Michael K.'s card.
[10♣]
Charlene: It's a ten!
[MICHAEL K.][$600] [_10_]|[10♣]
Me: Interesting scenario already. Let's see how this first question plays out:
"Cyrus Zachariah and Molly Ariel are the twin children of what actress?"
BUZZ: 76 Michael C. (42) Michael K. (64)
Michael K.?

Correct! Here's another $100...
[MICHAEL K.][$700] [_10_]|[10♣]
And you're one that controls the destiny in this game. Charlene, deal the next card.
[K♣]
Charlene: It's a King!
Me: Ooh, your opponent's probably kicking himself right now. What do you want to do with that King, Michael K.?
|
|
|
Post by larsonfan1 on Mar 29, 2015 14:14:10 GMT -5
I'll keep it and freeze.
|
|
|
Post by koopakid17 on Mar 29, 2015 14:27:36 GMT -5
All right, then...
[MICHAEL K.][$700] [_20_]|[10♣][K♣]
Michael C., the only way you can win this game is by getting 21 exactly. A ten or a face card will do it. Anything else and you have to keep drawing. Charlene, deal the first card.
[2♣]
Charlene: It's a two.
[MICHAEL C.][$900] [3/13]|[A♠][2♣]
Me: You now have a soft 13. Now, you're looking for an eight or any combination that will give you that. Deal Michael C.'s next card, Charlene.
[7♠]
Charlene: It's a seven.
[MICHAEL C.][$900] [10/20]|[A♠][2♣][7♠]
Me: Unfortunately, you can't freeze on 20 because Michael K. did that a few turns ago. Another Ace would be great right about now. Will we get one, Charlene?
[3♦]
Charlene: No, you'll get a three.
[MICHAEL C.][$900] [_13_]|[A♠][2♣][7♠][3♦]
Me: Okay, now. You have a hard 13. Now looking for an eight again. Charlene, deal the card.
[Q♥]
Charlene: Sorry, Michael. It's a Queen.
Me: That means Michael C. has busted...
[MICHAEL C.][$900] [BUST]|[A♠][2♣][7♠][3♦][Q♥]
And Michael K. is our champion!
[MICHAEL K.][$1,200] [_20_]|[10♣][K♣]
*cheers and applause*
Michael C., you get $900 for playing. Thank you for being here. Michael K., you are going to play for $25,000 after these words!
|
|
|
Post by koopakid17 on Mar 29, 2015 14:31:53 GMT -5
You've won $1,200 in cash, Michael K. How would you like to add $25,000 to that?
|
|
|
Post by larsonfan1 on Mar 29, 2015 14:33:20 GMT -5
I would love to do that.
|
|
|
Post by koopakid17 on Mar 29, 2015 14:45:49 GMT -5
All right, then. Let me explain how the bonus round works. You're aiming to make 21 on all three of the hands that we give you. We give you a base card for each and you control where the other cards go after that. Get 21 on one hand and you win $1,000. For two hands, we'll give you $5,000 and if you have three 21's, you will win $25,000!
*cheers and applause*
Now, at any time, you see a card that you don't like, you can zap it with one of your Power Chips. You have three Power Chips, one for winning the game and one apiece or each round that you won during the game. However, if you use a Power Chip, Charlene has to deal another card before you decide to stop and quit. At any time you go over 21 on either hand, you lose any money you won during this round. The $1,200 you won during the game is yours to keep, though.
Charlene, I think we're ready to see Michael's cards. What do you have for his first hand?
[K♥]
Charlene: It's a King.
Me: Okay, second card, please...
[7♥]
Charlene: It's a seven.
Me: The third and final base card...
[4♣]
Charlene: It's a four.
Me: Your board right now looks like this...
[_10_]|[K♥] [_7__]|[7♥] [_4__]|[4♣] (PC)(PC)(PC)
Now's the time to start adding. Remember, you're looking for 21's. Charlene, deal the card.
[10♦]
Charlene: It's a ten.
Me: Okay, what do you want to do with that ten, Michael?
|
|
|
Post by larsonfan1 on Mar 29, 2015 14:50:56 GMT -5
I'll put it on the 4.
|
|
|
Post by koopakid17 on Mar 29, 2015 15:23:28 GMT -5
All right, giving you 14 for that hand...
[_10_]|[K♥] [_7__]|[7♥] [_14_]|[4♣][10♦] (PC)(PC)(PC)
Charlene, deal the next card.
[J♥]
Charlene: It's a Jack.
Me: A face card this time. What do you want to do now?
|
|
|
Post by larsonfan1 on Mar 29, 2015 15:42:23 GMT -5
Lets put it on the King.
|
|
|
Post by koopakid17 on Mar 29, 2015 16:45:45 GMT -5
Okay, then...
[_20_]|[K♥][J♥] [_7__]|[7♥] [_14_]|[4♣][10♦] (PC)(PC)(PC)
The only way you can get a 21 on that hand is if Charlene draws an Ace. Let's see your next card.
[8♠]
Charlene: It's an eight.
Me:: Hmm...Michael, there's only one place to put that unless you want to use a Power Chip.
|
|
|
Post by larsonfan1 on Mar 29, 2015 16:47:07 GMT -5
I'll use a power chip. *I hand one over*
|
|
|
Post by koopakid17 on Mar 29, 2015 16:49:31 GMT -5
Yes, sir...
[_20_]|[K♥][J♥] [_7__]|[7♥] [_14_]|[4♣][10♦] (PC)(PC)
That eight is now history. Two Power Chips left and here's your next card.
[6♠]
Charlene: It's a six.
Me: What's your call on the six, Michael?
|
|
|
Post by larsonfan1 on Mar 29, 2015 16:51:38 GMT -5
I'll put it on the 7, now I'm kicking myself for getting rid of the 8.
|
|
|
Post by koopakid17 on Mar 29, 2015 16:56:10 GMT -5
Okay, then...
[_20_]|[K♥][J♥] [_13_]|[7♥][6♠] [_14_]|[4♣][10♦] (PC)(PC)
Now, with the way the board is set up, any card higher than an eight will bust you. If Charlene happens to draw one, you will have no choice but to use a Power Chip. Still looking for that first 21. Charlene, deal the card.
[5♦]
Charlene: It's a five.
Me: All right, it's decision time. You can put that five on the 13 or the 14 or you can Power Chip it.
