First, a word of thanks for letting some from “the old guard of net games” into this neighborhood. It's been great to reunite with hosts such as David Hammond and players such as Michael Clifford here at NGC. I look forward to many more years of association with NGC. With that, I'm taking some time off from hosting. The games I host -- Hot Dice, Crag: The Numbers Game and The $40,000 Chain Reaction -- will resume after we ring in the new year. If I'm a player in your game, I'm better than 90% certain I won't be away from the board. Travel appears to be limited to day trips and such. Otherwise, I shouldn't stray away from home base and be able to check messages through mobile devices if it comes to that. Now to a personal note. At this time of year, many of you are donating money to noble causes. I hope you'll consider a donation to the Cindy Morris Scholarship Fund at William Carey University in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. For those who don't know our story, the former Cindy Houdeshell and I met in 2002 and married in 2005. Just days into 2007, she passed away unexpectedly. Many who knew and loved her immediately thought the scholarship fund would be a great way to continue her legacy of caring. Please visit www.dougmorris.net/cindy for more about Cindy and the scholarship fund. Life as a widower, to say the least, hasn't been easy. Thankfully, work keeps me busy –- and time in NGC gives me a great chance to forget my troubles. Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays and make it a great holiday season with the loved ones you treasure. Hi Doug,
I just now got around to reading this, and learning about your wife's passing in 2007, my heart breaks.
It is an incredibly loving and noble thing you do, in sharing this story, and in keeping her loving legacy alive with this scholarship.
You are one of the finest gentlemen, not only on these boards, but in this world period.
Wishing you the Merriest of Christmas and the Happiest and Healthiest of New Years as well.
Bill

Addendum: Greetings from what will become my parents' home. Once they're settled in, they will live not terribly far from me.
To make the long story short, it will be days before WiFi and the internet are hooked up here. I'm typing this from an iPhone.
If I'm a player in your game, I'll be available to play. If I write for your game, it's probably going to be after we ring in 2015 before I can start writing again. If you write for my games and have already sent me something, I'm intentionally ignoring it -- so that I can thank you and add your contribution to my files when I get home (again, likely after the clock reads 11:59:59 p.m. on New Year's Eve).
Thanks for understanding and Happy New Year, D.M.
