With this episode, the Richard Karn era has now begun. The show is largely unchanged from the Anderson series, but with these changes to report:
The returning champions rule has been reinstated, so the family that wins this episode will play again in 2003. As before, champions can play up to five games in a row.
The Fast Money round now has think music added to it.
Here's the very first episode with Karn as host:

Time to begin the show! (1999 FF Theme) ERIN HARRIS: It's time for the Family Feud!
Introducing the Ringgenberg family: Matt, Kevin and Nels!
Playing against the Long family: Anthony, Sergio and David! You're about to see these two families battle it out for $20,000 in cash, because it's time to play the Family Feud! Now here's the star of our show, Bill Skinner!Welcome to Family Feud! As you can see, we're now kicking off a new era, and this time, the focus is on that other host named Richard; Richard Karn, to be exact. Now are my families ready? Let's play the Feud with Matt and Anthony! (1999 FF Face-Off Cue) Good luck to both of you, and here we go with the first question. We surveyed 100 people, and the top eight answers are on the board; try to find the most popular answer. Name something you were taught about the very first Thanksgiving as a child.

*buzz* Say what were thankful for.

Well, that was a definitive answer, if there ever were one. Show me saying what we're thankful for! clang! The Number 1 answer! Do you want to play or pass?

I will pass.

What an interesting choice, because we certainly don't get that a lot. Anthony's passing to the Ringgenbergs, so Kevin will be the next to answer. Can you name something else you were taught about the very first Thanksgiving as a child?

I’ll say the pilgrims sailing from Europe.

That's a great answer, because that's the first thing I learned about in school. Show me the Pilgrims! clang! You got it! Now let's hear one from Nels.

Yes, that's another great answer. Let me see Plymouth Rock! clang!Got another one! Now Matt, do you have an answer ready for us?

The Fourth Thursday in November.

Well, that could be a possibility, but is it up there? Let me see the fourth Thursday in November! (strike buzzer) Well, it is now, but probably not back in 1620. I'm sorry, that is strike one. Time to give us another answer, Kevin.

I said the pilgrims before so I’ll say native Americans this time.

Sure, that's who the Pilgrims would meet upon landing at Plymouth Rock. Show me Native Americans! clang!Got it again! How about another one, Nels?

Being around love ones

Post by Bill Skinner on Nov 7, 2018 11:21:45 GMT -5
Remember, we are talking about 1620, but I'm sure that the Pilgrims had all their loved ones around. Is being around loved ones up there? (strike buzzer) Nope, but you did give a great answer. Now Matt, what are you going to try with this time?

Peace?

Post by Bill Skinner on Nov 7, 2018 13:06:25 GMT -5
You have two strikes against you, so if you miss, then the Longs will get a chance to steal. If it's up there, you're still alive. Show me peace! (strike buzzer) It's your third strike... (walks to Long side of stage) ...and Longs, we'll see if your strategy to pass earlier works to your advantage. What is your answer?

I'm not sure, Anthony. In Spain, we don't celebrate Thanksgiving.
