(audience cheers)Kevin Kolsen is back with a nice wad of cash and a new car -- all worth $23,925. Sounds like a well-rounded life. Sounds also like you'll be calculating more than $29,000 in extra income -- plus anything else you win today.
Good luck to you, today. Nels, good luck to you as well. Please tell us something about yourself.

Nice to have you here from Minnesota. You won't be rolling bowling balls today -- but you will be rolling dice shortly. Kevin and Nels, the best of luck to you both -- because you will need it. Please have a look at our game board. Those are the lucky numbers in play for every game in our match -- 4, 5, 6, 8, 9 and 10. Attached to five of those numbers are cash awards. Anytime your dice roll totals one of those lucky numbers, you seize control of that cash award. However, the remaining number is the luckiest number of all. It's our winning point. And the winning point in the first game we're about to play is... (drum beats; cha-ching)...the highest number -- the 10. Roll a 10 in any combination and you'll win the cash you've seized *plus* the money in the pot. At the start of every game, we seed the pot with $1500. It could go up by as much as $500 on a particular roll. More on that later. Now there's a reason 7 is not among this game's lucky numbers. That's because any roll of 7 means this. (danger zone cue; lights briefly flicker in certain parts of studio)That puts the game in the danger zone. The complexion of the game will change from there. More about *that* later. Now -- to get control of the dice, you must correctly answer a toss-up question. If you anticipate and you're wrong, the roll automatically goes to your opponent. So -- players, hands on the buzzers, please -- because here comes your first question of the match. True or false: On "The Andy Griffith Show", Gomer and Goober were brothers. 34 koopakid17 20 nelson17 20 random.org (Nels buzzes in) Nels?

True?

Post by dougmorrisontheair on Oct 3, 2018 6:41:38 GMT -5
No, they were cousins -- so "false" was the right answer here. Kevin, this means you get to roll the dice. And this first roll of the game could be the last roll of the game. Roll double fives or a six and a four -- and you'll quickly win the game and $1500. (scattered cheers) (Kevin rolls)Dice total 6 instead. That's good for... (ding)...$300. Champ always plays red; the challenger plays blue. So all monies that light up red will go into Kevin's bank if he wins the game -- *along* with the contents of the pot. Nels, your monies will light up blue and go into your bank if you win -- along with whatever's in the pot. Next question for the right to roll the bones. Barbara Corcoran, Barbara Eden or Barbara Mandrell. Which Barbara would you most likely see on "Shark Tank"? 14 koopakid17 35 nelson17 83 random.org (Nels buzzes in) Nels?

Barbara Corcoran is right. (audience cheers)Dice are yours for the first time this game. Let's see if you come up with the winning roll. (scattered cheers) (Kevin rolls)Almost a 10. Nine instead -- which is worth... (ding)...$375. This game's worth at least $1800 as of this moment. Let's see if someone cashes in with this. True or false: During America's bicentennial year, an American city hosted an Olympics. 25 koopakid17 10 nelson17 32 random.org (Kevin buzzes in) Kevin?

The 1976 Winter Games were held in Austria. The Summer Olympics were held in Canada. False is right. (audience cheers)Second roll of the dice for you this game, Kevin. Let's see if you can come up with that winning roll. (scattered cheers) (Kevin rolls) (drum beats; cha-ching)Boxcars! Now, the dice total 12. We don't have a 12 on the board -- but there's good news. Rolls of 2, 3, 11 and this 12 are tough to attain. So, those are the wild rolls. On any wild roll here in the main games, we add $500 to the pot. (drum beats; cha-ching)And we've just done that. And, Kevin, this also means you may roll again. (Kevin rolls)Repeat roll of 6 for you. Unfortunately, we can't give you an extra roll for that. (drum beats; cha-ching)But we match the six's value in cash and add $300 to the pot. So someone's winning more than $2000 in this opening game of the match. On to another question. "Bang", "Boom Boom" or "Crash". What is the nickname of rockabilly and country singer Billy Craddock? 86 koopakid17 15 nelson17 71 random.org (Kevin buzzes in) Kevin?

Just because Alex Trebek used to host this show, it doesn't mean you have to respond in question form. (scattered laughter from crowd) And Crash is right. (audience cheers) We kid because we care, Kevin. Roll those dice, please. (scattered cheers) (Kevin rolls) (chimes; audience cheers) Boxcars again. Wild roll means... (drum beats; cha-ching)...we add five more Benjamins to the pot. $2800 at stake now. Kevin, please roll again. (Kevin rolls)And there's a roll of an 8. Control of that number goes to you, Kevin... (ding)...and it's worth $300. We're avoiding danger -- so let's keep it that way. Next question. Was it Dusty Hill, Dru Hill or Lauryn Hill who showed up more than three hours late to a concert in January of 2017 due to weather conditions? 64 koopakid17 65 nelson17 31 random.org (Kevin buzzes in) Kevin?

That's the right Hill. (audience cheers)All right, champ. Chance to win more than $3000 comes now. Let's see if you can do it. (Kevin rolls) (chimes; audience cheers) *Another* wild roll. Wow. (drum beats; cha-ching)How ya like that? Champ rolls a 3 -- and the pot's up to $3300. Roll again, please, Kevin. (Kevin rolls)Niner. Now, that *was* Nels' number. (ding)Kevin, now it's yours. With all this money at stake, friends, we need to go out and make some money for the house. We do that by honoring the floor director's signal and going to break -- lest he give another signal with a particular finger. (scattered laughter from crowd) We'll be back with more of this game of Lucky Numbers. Stay close. (commercial cue plays; audience applauds)

(HR87 theme plays) A source for many of the questions we use on Lucky Numbers is the 22-volume World Book Encyclopedia -- which includes the research guide and the index volume. While no one's banked cash in this match -- at least not yet -- our players do receive fine welcoming gifts. Bill Kennedy, please tell us about one of them. Bill: The Marantz Model 2500 stereo system, featuring AM/FM receiver with gyro-touch tuner and toroidal dual power supply, plus three-speed phonograph and two matching stereo speakers -- all made with a true musical sound with virtually no distortion to come between you and the music. Marantz -- we sound better. Bill: We'll be back with more of Lucky Numbers -- after this message.

(ASB cue plays; audience applauds) And we're back with more of our first game of Lucky Numbers. No one's won this first game as yet -- so we're working on a scoreless tie. Kevin has control of three of the lucky numbers up there -- the 6, the 8, and the 9. Pot's grown to $3300 -- and a roll of a 10 will pay off more than $3000. And we're still not in danger -- so the winner of this next question gets to roll the dice automatically. Here's that next question. Morgan Fairchild, Morgan Freeman or Morgan Shepherd. That's the right Morgan. (audience cheers)With a voice like his, he had to have earned $500 a word for the naration. (scattered laughter from crowd) Worth every penny. Nels, let's see if you can win every penny that's in the pot right now. (Nels rolls)Ada from Decatur means *you* get to steal a lucky number. (ding) The 8 was Kevin's -- but Nels, now it's yours. That $300 *plus* the pot will go into your bank if you win the game. Let's talk cards for a moment with this question. (scattered groans) Oh no -- *nothing* is wild in the World Series of Poker. They don't even shuffle in jokers. Kevin, that's a break for you -- with a chance to win. (Kevin rolls)Turnabout's fair play with this roll of 8. (ding) Kevin, you stole back control of that lucky number. So a winning roll on this next question would pay off roughly $4300. Nels would like to take that winning roll -- on this question. Brian Dunkleman, Brian Griffin or Brian Williams. That's the right Brian. (audience cheers)Brian Williams, of course, misremembered the time he was on "Idol". (scattered laughter from crowd) Kevin, let's see if *this* will be the winning roll. (Kevin rolls) (chimes; audience cheers) Yo-leven! Another wild roll. (drum beats; cha-ching) Game's now worth no less than $3800 to someone. Kevin, for you, roughly $4800. With the wild roll, you may roll again. (Kevin rolls) (danger zone cue; lights briefly flicker in certain parts of studio)Ohhhhh -- dear. Odds finally caught up to us, players. We're in the danger zone with that roll of 7. Next roll of 7 in this game means your opponent automatically wins the money in the pot and any further cash awards from the lucky numbers. This also means the winner of the next question may roll the dice -- or pass. Crucial question coming.
