Wendy, I have some really great news!
Wendy: What?
On DPG last week, I got two solos!
Ok Rocks, what in the flying world is DPG!?!? Some kind of Wheel of Fortune based game? I don't know.
Actually, no, it's a game exclusive to the Buy a Vowel forum. Each day, a host makes up a bonus puzzle filled with every instance of RSTLNE and the select letter choices, like CDMA for example. The person has 24 hours to solve and if it's correct, they get full credit. If it fits, but not correct, they get half credit. Although there are some breathers like GETTING FREE POINTS (What Are You Doing?) and THE POINTS DON'T MATTER (TV Quote), there have been some real nasty ones like WURTLAND (On The Map) and STINKY ZORILLA (Living Thing). There's more to explore there, but I wanted to talk about some amazing solves:
So in the category, Proper Name, RSTLNE gave away a third of that puzzle and CDGO added nothing. With that info, I kept working on BLAKE and attached JEFF to it a couple seconds later, mainly because of JEFF BRIDGES, which produced the last $100k loss of Wheel of Fortune's 22nd season.
(Audience Cheers)
You're really good at this Rocks. You should get on the actual show!
But wait! There's more.
So with the setup on the second one, I was literally thinking "Rhyme Time". I inputted the Y's at the end, and I thought the Z for the next-to-last letter for each word was reasonable. I then shifted to "What Rhyme sounds Non-Phrase Slangy?" Answer: WEEZY & YEEZY
(Audience Cheers More)
And it was a doubler to boot!
(Audience Cheers Even Louder)
Wendy: QUIET!!!!
Ok Rocks, I know you shared your "very good" news, but let's go over to the Bonus Wheel. (We Walk Over)
So Kevin landed on the G in GAME. Not to rain on his parade, but he was one wedge off. (She picks the envelope on the A in GAME and opens it up.)
(Audience Groans)
Still though, a $60,000 cash total in one game is still very nice. (2006 Closing Theme Plays) We'll be back on the next episode and maybe Kevin can actually nab the $100,000 or even the Million! But we must sign off for now.
Wendy: Bye!
