Our 34th episode of Crag: The Numbers Game is about to start. This will be the first regular episode since our tournament of champions and, admittedly, a long hiatus partially due to professional responsibility and two dental surgeries in three months.
Antonio Gray returns from "our Friday show" with one match win and $9000.
As we welcome him aboard, who wants to challenge?

Frank, you just won the tourney. Please let someone else have a chance to play.
(Also, anyone else who played in the tourney should sit out a few episodes, please.)

Mel would chomp on a carrot and spit it out in the nearby spittoon while recording lines. "No" is correct. (audience applause) Well, Kevin, control's now in your court. Roll or pass? (audience shouts suggestions) Uh, wrong show.

Thanks, Bryan. At least that post was meant for a show that has dice and "Numbers" in the title.

Staff announcer: "SVU" -- tonight at 9 on NBC 58. (lights in studio gradually are turned on)
(audience cheers) Helloooo, everybody, I'm Doug Morris. Welcome to Crag: The Numbers Game. I think we've all simmered down after yesterday's show -- where we had not one but two Crag-made millionaires at the end of our tournament of champions. (audience cheers)Marc Enyedy was the runner-up in our tournament. His total winnings were augmented to more than $1.2 million in cash and merchandise. Frank Sartori walked away as the overall winner -- taking us for more than $2 million. (audience cheers)But now we resume our regular matches. And who knows. With the right combination of knowledge, strategy and lucky rolls of the dice, we could award another million today -- giving our bean counters a lot of migraines. (audience laughs) Warmest of welcomes to our challengers, Bryan Law. And the warmest of welcome backs to our champion with one win and $9000, Antonio Gray. (audience cheers)Antonio, first, thanks for your patience as we had our fifth anniversary tournament. Anything new happen in your world since you last played with us?

(audience groans)
Oh, sorry to hear of this. Well, sounds like you did well as her caregiver. May she rest in peace -- and may God comfort you and the loved ones you treasure after her passing.
(audience respectfully applauds)
In the news business, we'd call this a turn. So, Antonio, we wish you good luck in today's match. Bryan, as we wish you good luck as well, please tell us about yourself.

I live in Columbus, MS where I work for Dollar General. I also enjoy watching SEC Football and NASCAR. If I’m not watching those, I’m binging on either Star Trek or Law & Order.

Well we've been known to have TV trivia questions in our five-year history. Maybe some TV questions will come up in the match we're starting now. Again, good luck to both of you, Antonio and Bryan. Much like the regular dice game of Crag, our game is all about numbers -- particularly the numbers you can roll on dice. The right answer to each question on our show is a number between 1 and 6 inclusive. Sometimes, we'll ask for the Roman numeral or ordinal equivalent of one of those numbers -- perhaps even a spelled-out word (between "one" and "six" inclusive). And we often have missing digit questions. I'll explain how they work later. (ding)Right now, we're starting off the match with a single digit question. And here it comes. We're going back to The Stone Age for this first single digit question. By definition, a triceratops had how many horns? 032 gameshowfan1986 100 Bryan 042 randomizer.org (Frank buzzes in)Antonio?

Antonio says a triceratops had two horns back in the day. Is that right? (buzz)No. And that gives Bryan the first chance to steal since the tournament's end. Bryan, the Crag dice will offer the correct answer to this question -- and a couple of wrong ones. It's up to you to pick the right one. (ding)By definition, a triceratops had how many horns? Bryan, is the correct answer 3, 4 or 5?

Bryan's saying the triceratops had 3 horns. Is he right? (ding; audience applause)It is -- 2 horns about the eyes and 1 near the nose for a total of 3. Bryan, with that correct answer, you've earned up to two rolls of our Crag dice -- to try to score as many points as you can. These are the different ways you can score a lot of points. There are four different straights in the game of Crag worth 20 points each. The 1-2-3 make up a low straight; 4-5-6 a high straight; 1-3-5 an odd straight and 2-4-6 an even straight. It doesn't matter how the numbers appear on the board. If you roll three of the same number, that's a triple for 25 points. And, remember, 13 *is* lucky in Crag. If you roll different numbers that total 13, I'll double the sum for 26 points. *However* -- if you have a pair of numbers plus an odd number that total 13, that's a Crag for 50 points. (audience cheers)(rolling sfx)The dice are now rolling, Bryan. We lock them into your buzzer one at a time.
[Bryan, please "stop the dice" with three letters from A to F inclusive. You may repeat letters if you think that helps.]

(ding)Stop on a 3. (ding)Stop on a 2. (ding) (scattered cheers) And stop on a 1. Good opening roll, Bryan -- a low straight. Now, you may stop the round here and take 20 points. But if you think you can do better, you may freeze up to two of the dice and reroll the rest. What's your pleasure?

Challenger takes the 20 points and the early lead. The first player to score 100 points wins the numbers game and $2500. Runner-up collects $500. The first player to earn $5000 takes the match and players for more money in the long-awaited return of Super Crag. And, don't forget, we award $1000 to the first player to roll a Crag in the match. We *normally* pay that $1000 on the spot. But after giving away more than $3,000,000 yesterday, today's $1000 bonus comes in the form of an I.O.U. (scattered laughter from the crowd) On to Round 2. Antonio, let's see if you can get a straight of your own -- or something better. Single digit question: The final word that was spelled correctly in the 2000 Scripps Howard National Spelling Bee has how many vowels, including repeats? 28 gameshowfan1986 95 Bryan 96 randomizer.org (Bryan buzzes in)

Bryan says the winning word has 5 vowels. Is that right? (buzz)No. Antonio, chance at turnabout -- which is always fair play. (ding)And I'll repeat the question. The final word that was spelled correctly in the 2000 Scripps Howard National Spelling Bee has how many vowels, including repeats?Antonio, does that word have 2, 3 or 4 vowels?

Three vowels, you say. Does the champ say right? (ding; audience applause)Yes. The winning word was "demarche" -- "e" is there twice and "a" once. (rolling sfx)Champ, you'll get on the board. Will you tie or vault into the lead?
