Alright, 50-50 you want, and 50-50 you'll get. Computer, please randomly remove two of the wrong answers, leaving the correct answer and one incorrect answer... (da-dum!)Which of the following countries did not claim any part of Texas before it was annexed by the United States?
Did that help you at all?

(final answer cue)Which of the following countries did not claim any part of Texas before it was annexed by the United States?
(checks the screen) Again, you went for that one mighty quick after the lifeline. "It's been fun" is what you just said... I tell you what, the fun's not over yet! (non-milestone $32,000 win cue plays, cheers and applause from the audience as the lights do their thing) Which of the following countries did not claim any part of Texas before it was annexed by the United States?
$32,000 (another cue as the lights descend to a darker setting) [---][PaF][---][StQ] | 15 $1 MILLION | 14 $500,000 | 13 $250,000 | 12 $125,000 | 11 $64,000 | 10·$32,000 | 9 · $16,000 | 8 · $8,000 | 7 · $4,000 | 6 · $2,000 | 5 · $1,000 | 4 · $500 | 3 · $300 | 2 · $200 | 1 · $100 |
Just five questions stand between you and a million dollars now. You've still got two lifelines, and, of course, you have your safety net to place. Do you want to set it at $64,000?

Yes let’s set it at 64,000 please

There it is, then. [---][PaF][---][StQ] | 15 $1 MILLION | 14 $500,000 | 13 $250,000 | 12 $125,000 | 11 $64,000 | 10·$32,000 | 9 · $16,000 | 8 · $8,000 | 7 · $4,000 | 6 · $2,000 | 5 · $1,000 | 4 · $500 | 3 · $300 | 2 · $200 | 1 · $100 |
I have to remind you if you go for this and miss, you'll lose $31,000 - but get it right and you won't leave here tonight with less than $64,000. Right, have a look at this, the $64,000 question... ($64,000 music plays)In which of these languages are hiragana used?
A. Korean | B. Japanese | C. Chinese | D. Vietnamese |
|
|
|
Post by jlastergolf on May 22, 2018 19:20:02 GMT -5
If world history serves me right it was Japanese

|

So do you think you've got it, then? That is to say, are you sure enough to go for it? There's a lot at risk here...

I feel 85% sure. Let’s g go big or go home. Japanese is my final answer

(final answer cue)In which of these languages are hiragana used?
A. Korean | B. Japanese | C. Chinese | D. Vietnamese |
I'm so sorry... ...but the producers are flashing "go to commercial" on my screen. (some groans and laughs from the audience) (to camera) We'll find out if he's got the money after the break! (commercial cue, applause as we cut to the logo) ---- (insert a few minutes of commercials of your choosing here) ---- (out of commercial cue, applause as we cut back to the studio) Welcome back to what must have been the tensest commercial break of Jonathan Laster's life. Just before the break, he gave us a final answer that could be worth a guaranteed $64,000. (I read out the question again) And Jonathan ended up going for Japanese. Jonathan... ...here is a check for $64,000!
(second milestone cue, the audience erupts into cheers and applause) In which of these languages are hiragana used?
A. Korean | B. Japanese | C. Chinese | D. Vietnamese |
$64,000 (lights down cue)
Jonathan, you've set the bar pretty high for the contestants to come after you, that much is for sure... How do you feel?

I feel good knowing I got to 64. I intend on the PaF on the next one

And the beautiful thing about this next one is that you have nothing to lose by going for it. The worst-case scenario here is that you're stuck at 64 grand - but give me the right answer and you'll have $125,000. Take a look at question number twelve of a possible 15... ($125,000 cue)When asked why he wanted to climb Mount Everest, what explorer said "Because it's there"?
A. Reinhold Messner | B. Edmund Hillary | C. Peter Habeler | D. George Mallory |
Now, you said you intend to use your Phone-a-Friend on this one... still feel the need for it?

And I dont know it. I wanna use it

Don’t switch to FaceTime or Skype a Friend, they said... Keep the phone, they said... It’ll work just fine, they said...
This is gonna end up going to voice mail at this rate!
(Edited to add this 4th wall message: In the future, players, please send a message to whoever you intend to use as a Phone a Friend when you make the hot seat so you can avoid situations like this. In future games, the failure of a Phone a Friend to respond within 24 hours will constitute a wasted lifeline. Jonathan will have the chance to sub in someone else should Doug not respond, since we’re only adding these rules midgame.)

He made it through! (some laughter and cheers from the audience) I guess we're gonna leave all that on the tape now. Hiya Doug, Evan Hatfield on the line from Millionaire. I hope everything's alright for ya, technology aside... Anywho, Jonathan Laster's in the hot seat, he's going for $125,000, and he needs your help to get there! Doug, in a moment, Jonathan's going to come on the line and give you the question and four possible answers. You two will have just 30 seconds (4th wall: which means just three posts each for both of you), so you'll want to move quickly. Alright, Doug, next voice you hear will be Jonathan's. The best of luck to you both. Your 30 seconds start right now... (30 second clock cue plays)

So what are you thinking?

I feel like that may be the most obvious answer and you never go with the obvious this late in the game... but it may be right. So I am not sure if I should switch the question or not

There's a few different ways to go here, of course. You can go for this one based on what Doug said and what you're thinking. You can also Switch and hope the new question is more up your alley. Either way, you've got nothing to lose by playing this.
Were you leaning toward any of the answers before the Phone a Friend?
