Glenn: That's right, I had to step in. It looks like your man isn't capable of making deals. (pause) Really? "The second Tony to screw me over today"? You ungrateful little--- (pause) All right, I'll tell him. (he summons Tony L. to the producer's table) Tony, we're coming up to the CashCard round. Thankfully, you won't have to make any adjustments to the $15 price, it's flat. Greg knows what happened, and he doesn't want you to be the second Tony to screw him over today. He's counting on you. [DOORBELL RINGS]That sound means it's time for another FAME GAME. If the three of you are ready, here it comes... I was born on December 28, 1978, in Springfield, Ohio. I am one of four children of a seamstress, and a factory worker and former National Guardsman. Throughout my childhood, I was homeschooled on and off my his mother. At the age of four, I had performed with my church choir. I began playing the piano at age seven. At the age of 12, I had attended Springfield North High School, from which I graduated salutatorian of his class four years later. I was offered admission to Harvard University and scholarships to Georgetown University and Morehouse College. I attended the University of Pennsylvania, where I studied English with an emphasis on African-American literature. I had released my debut album, Get Lifted, on GOOD Music in December 2004. It featured production by Kanye West, Dave Tozer, and will.i.am, and debuted at number 7 on the US Billboard 200, selling 116,000 copies in its first week. It went on to sell 540,300 copies in the United States and was certified gold by the RIAA. An international success, Get Lifted also reached number one of the Norwegian Albums Chart and peaked within the top ten in the Netherlands and Sweden, resulting in worldwide sales of 850,000 copies. Critically acclaimed, my first record had won the 2006 Grammy Award for Best R&B Album, and earned myself another two nominal awards for Best New Artist and Best Male R&B Vocal Performance. Altogether, the record produced four singles, including debut single "Used to Love U," which entered the top 30 of the New Zealand and UK Singles Chart, and Grammy Award-winning "Ordinary People" which peaked at 24 on the Billboard Hot 100. On December 19, 2017, NBC announced that I had been cast in the title role in the live concert production of Jesus Christ Superstar at the Marcy Avenue Armory in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. The production was broadcast live on NBC television on April 1, 2018 (the date of Easter Sunday that year in Western Christianity). (Just then, Tony B. enters via the doors, a section of the audience visiting from Australia cheers their brains out) Tony B.: Well done, Tony. Now, I'mma let you finish---- (he stops to consider what he said, audience laughs) "I'mma let you finish"? That can't be right. (audience laughs and applauds) Anyway, I'll let you carry on in a moment. But first, I should explain to Nels how this works. Now, Nels, you have a $20 lead over James. For $15, you can pick one of these four suits. One of them gives you your money back. One of them lets you take $5 from an opponent and tack it to your score. One of them gives you this prize!(Just then, we hear motorcycles revving. Roy Bittan's piano begins to play along with the motorcycles. Suddenly, four Harley-Davidsons peel through the soundstage and into the main area. Three of them are Street 750s, while one of them is a bigger Road King. The motorcycles stop, and the riders dismount and take off their helmets. Two of them are Todd Rundgren and Rory Dodd. One of them is Burton Richardson, while the man who rides the Road King is none other than Meat Loaf. This is met with cheers and applause. The spotlight shines on Meat as he breaks into song.) ["I'd Do Anything for Love (But I Won't Do That)" Written by Jim Steinman Performed by Meat Loaf] Meat: And I would do anything for love I'd run right into hell and back I would do anything for love I'd never lie to you and that's a fact
Burton: Meat! Meat! (the music stops) Meat: Burton! What- what'd you do that for?Burton: You're just here to help with the prize package. Nobody asked you to sing.
Meat: I know nobody asked me to sing. But this is my #1 song. My only #1.
Burton: Well, please don't do that.
Meat: OK. (starts singing) I won't do that.
(he bows) Tony B.: Well, it's about time you came back, Burton. What kept you?
Burton: Well, my car got impounded because it was parked illegally. So, I had to find another way to get back. I ended up walking home when who should pass by me but the local congregation of Hells Angels. That gave me an idea. Now, I'd never ridden a motorcycle before, but I did know one person who did. So, by way of a friend of a friend of a friend, I met Meat Loaf. Only, he wasn't what he seemed to be.
Meat: That's right, Burton. You see, I don't actually ride motorcycles, I just sit on them and admire them.
Tony B.: Well, Meat... I'm sure you have a fascinating story, but we have a show to do.
Meat: Now wait just a minute, I haven't gotten to the punchline. Long story short, Burton asked me and some of my backup singers to accompany him on motorcycle to the show today. It's the first time, honest, that I've actually ridden a motorcycle. And I love it. And I have a song here that Jim Steinman and Greg Palmer wrote for such an occasion.
Tony B.: Well, we don't have time for that, Mr. Loaf. Maybe during the break. Now, onto the prize package, please?
Meat: Very well. Who's in the lead?
Tony B.: Nels.
Meat: OK, Nels. I've got a deal for you. Now, what are we doing?
Burton: CashCard.
Meat: Right. Nels, if you pick the right suit, I'd like to personally invite you and a guest to come to London, England to see Jim Steinman's biggest musical to date, Bat Out of Hell!["Bat Out of Hell" Backing Track](audience cheers) Burton: You and a guest will fly round trip coach from Los Angeles to London, England for a 7-night stay at the Andaz Liverpool Street London - a concept by Hyatt. A 21st century masterpiece and a stunning blend of traditional and contemporary features throughout. The 267 beautifully appointed guestrooms & spacious suites, seven fabulous restaurants & bars, fourteen diverse private dining event & wedding spaces, and 24-hour Health club access cements its reputation as one of London's most stylish hotels. The Andaz Liverpool Street London. Daily breakfast not included.
Plus, we're also including two Premium tickets to see Jim Steinman's Bat Out of Hell - The Musical! Follow a story of troubled teenage love in this rock musical, featuring the hit songs of Meat Loaf.
Finally, Nels, so you can really go "faster than any other boy has ever gone", a motorcycle! The 2018 Harley-Davidson Road King, where stripped down, nostalgic style meets the performance and versatility of a modern Harley-Davidson touring machine. It comes with all the standard features plus over $5,000 in dealer-installed extras! Furnished by Harley-Davidson. Altogether, this CashCard package is worth.....
(audience cheers) Tony B.: Wonderful, wonderful. Simply amazing. Meat Loaf, everyone! And not only that, Nels, but one of those suits is the CashCard, which tonight is worth $60,000! (he makes his way to Tony L.'s lectern and pulls out a check for $60K, audience cheers) Now, you've got a $20 lead, it'll cost you $15 to play. What do you think?
