Due to Frank Sartori's mother's health situation that he just updated us about in the vacation thread, I'm placing GOLD RU$H on hold until such time that Frank is able to return.
Frank, however long it takes brother, don't worry.
We're keeping you and your mother in our loving thoughts and prayers.
Best,
Bill

The top is worth... Oh, very nice! $5,000! James, you're back in the chips and back in the lead at the moment. Next toss-up question. This one is a multiple choicer... How many cubic feet are in a cord of wood? Is it 128 cubic feet or 256 cubic feet? www.dougmorris.net/dice/HR78_BUZZIN.mp3Frank, you're in first this time. And to borrow a phrase from my very good friend and online host colleague Doug Morris, this will be an untimed down.

128 is... Right! (applause) 15 numbers left, 2 are Fool's Gold, the rest are good. Do you want to play or pass Frank?

I'll play. Let's pick 25

Southeast corner of the board, and that has... A gift box, that represents one of our four prizes. Which one has Frank uncovered? It's that lovely 5 piece set of luggage, valued at $800. That goes into your bank Frank... Close game here, James with $5,000 in cash, Frank with $3,800 in cash and prizes, and I have another toss-up... How many men have landed on the moon? Is it more or less than 10? www.dougmorris.net/dice/HR78_BUZZIN.mp3James, your answer please.

The actual number of men who have landed on the moon is... 12! It IS more! (applause) James, you have $5,000 currently at stake, Frank has $3,800 at stake. 14 numbers left, 2 are Fool's Gold, the other 12 are good. Do you play or pass James?

Using some strategy here. Frank, the board is yours... Frank, select a number please.

Behind the 18... OH NO!!! The FOURTH of the five Fool's Gold cards! Frank, you lose your $3,000 in cash and the $800 luggage. There remains only ONE Fool's Gold card on the board. I'll explain what happens if it gets found on this next play at the board. First, a toss-up question, hands on buttons players... The Great Chicago Fire…did it take place before or after 1886? www.dougmorris.net/dice/HR78_BUZZIN.mp3Frank, your answer please...

Before
|
|
|
Post by billmcdee on Mar 26, 2018 6:52:47 GMT -5
It took place in 1871!
Before is correct!
(Applause)
Frank, you can pass or play. If you play and uncover the last Fool's Gold card, James will win the game with $5,000.
If you pass however, and should James uncover the last Fool's Gold card and go back to $0, then one more toss-up would have to be played, and the winner of that toss-up would become the champion.
So with that in mind, do you want to play or pass Frank?
13 boxes left, all but 1 are safe.

Frank, anything but Fool's Gold and you're still in business... Number 10... Mystery Money! This can be a random amount anywhere from as little as $750 up to $7,500. And this time the randomizer stops at.... Oh my! $5,550!!!! Nice! Frank, you're now back in the lead! Next question... On average, how many times will a human being blink in the course of a year? Is it more or less than 6 million times? www.dougmorris.net/dice/HR78_BUZZIN.mp3James, it's you. Your answer please.

James, you say less than 6 million times. The actual number of times on average that a human being will blink in one year is... 6 million 205 thousand times!!!!!!! It is not less, it was MORE!!!!!! Frank you control the board! Twelve boxes remain, 11 are good, only one would lose the game for you. Frank, do you want to play it or pass it? If you pass and James hits the last Fool's Gold card, then YOU Frank would win.

Number 6

|
Post by billmcdee on Mar 28, 2018 15:24:48 GMT -5
This could be the end of the match! What is lurking behind number 6? OH BOY!!!! (applause) Nice time to uncover that James! That catapults YOU back into the lead now with $10,000 to Frank's $5,550. Next toss up question players... True or False? The original "Star Trek" television series aired on NBC for two seasons. www.dougmorris.net/dice/HR78_BUZZIN.mp3Frank, your answer please.

I'll say false.
|
|
|
Post by billmcdee on Mar 28, 2018 16:40:17 GMT -5
The correct answer is... FALSE! (applause) It was on NBC for THREE seasons, not merely two! It lived longer and prospered longer than a mere 2 seasons! Let's take a quick gander at the Gold Rush board... Eleven boxes remain, all of them are safe except for one, the final Fool's Gold card. Frank, you currently trail. Do you want to play the board, or pass to James, and hope he hits that last Fool's Gold card? (audience yelling out advice)

I think I'll pass to James.

Once again, employing the Texas gambit, El Paso... James, select the Fool's Gold and Frank becomes tonight's winner. Anything else and the game will continue. What number James? Important pick here for sure!
