(1978 CS Intro) ERIN HARRIS: Aces are high, deuces are low! Call it right, and win the dough...on Card Sharks! (1978 CS Theme) And now, here's the host of Card Sharks, Bill Skinner!Thank you, Erin Harris, and welcome to another edition of Card Sharks! Once again, I am presiding over a rematch of a previous episode, and these two players were here the last time we played, so welcome back our returning champion, grapebuy789, and his challenger, mringgenberg! Of course, you know how the game goes, so let's get into the first question. As always, the champion gets to answer first, and grapebuy789, it's going to be you once again. We asked 100 people this question: "As a kid, did you ever feel disappointed when your parents or teacher told you that Santa Claus wasn't real?"How many of them said yes?

When I came to age and my parents told me Santa didn't exist, I was pretty disappointed. I imagine many kids felt like that. I'll say 81.

So it's 81 for grapebuy789. ding!mringgenberg, is the actual number higher or lower than 81?

It's a little lower.

mringgenberg says lower... ding!...and the actual number of people who said that they were disappointed about being told that Santa Claus wasn't real is... ding-ding-ding!...85, so it's not lower, and grapebuy789 gets to play his cards first. Now let's give a warm welcome to our two dealers, Amber Lancaster and Tiffany Coyne! Now, since grapebuy789 won, Amber will show the first card in his row. What is it, Amber? (Q ⋄)A Queen. Now you can change that Queen and hope for a better card, or you can play it right away. What do you want to do?
Post by grapebuy789 on Nov 29, 2017 17:13:35 GMT -5
I'm going to change the Queen.
Post by Bill Skinner on Nov 29, 2017 22:41:30 GMT -5
And we will change the Queen to...
(8 ♣)
...an 8. Not exactly your best change, but we'll see how well you do. Is the next card higher or lower?
Post by grapebuy789 on Nov 30, 2017 7:45:57 GMT -5
Hmmm...let's try lower.
Post by Bill Skinner on Nov 30, 2017 11:02:57 GMT -5
Lower than an 8?
(3 ⋄)
ding!
Yes, you made the right call! Now you can freeze or continue. What is your choice?
Post by grapebuy789 on Nov 30, 2017 16:46:57 GMT -5
Let's try higher.
Post by Bill Skinner on Nov 30, 2017 16:59:00 GMT -5
Higher than a 3?
(J ♥)
ding!
Right again! Now what will you do?
Post by grapebuy789 on Nov 30, 2017 20:15:13 GMT -5
I'm gonna go lower.
Post by Bill Skinner on Nov 30, 2017 23:24:05 GMT -5
Lower than a Jack?
(A ♣)
buzz!
Oh no, it was an Ace, so mringgenberg is in the game now. What's his first card, Tiffany?
(2 ♣)
Aha, a 2! You cannot change it, so you may as well say higher and get it over with.
Post by mringgenberg on Nov 30, 2017 23:25:54 GMT -5
Higher!
Post by Bill Skinner on Nov 30, 2017 23:27:05 GMT -5
Sure, it's got to be higher than a 2. Is it?
(10 ⋄)
ding!
Right you are, and you now have the choice to keep playing or freeze.
Post by mringgenberg on Nov 30, 2017 23:27:28 GMT -5
I'm going to freeze.
Post by Bill Skinner on Nov 30, 2017 23:35:57 GMT -5
I think you made the right call here. So now we get into a new question, our second of the round. mringgenberg, you will answer this time, and we asked 100 vacationers: "Would you prefer to spend Christmas in a cold or warm climate?"How many of them said that they'd prefer a cold climate?
Post by mringgenberg on Nov 30, 2017 23:37:07 GMT -5
I think it'll be a low number. 34
Post by Bill Skinner on Nov 30, 2017 23:48:11 GMT -5
So mringgenberg says 34. ding!grapebuy789, is the actual number higher or lower than 34?
Post by grapebuy789 on Dec 1, 2017 6:54:41 GMT -5
I'm going to say it's lower.

Post by Bill Skinner on Dec 1, 2017 10:11:22 GMT -5
grapebuy789 says it's lower. ding! The actual number of people who said that they prefer a cold climate is... ding-ding-ding!...31, so it is lower, and grapebuy789 will start with a fresh row of cards. Now what's the new base, Amber? (J ♠) A Jack! Now would you like to play it or change it?
Post by grapebuy789 on Dec 1, 2017 17:33:21 GMT -5
Change it!
Post by Bill Skinner on Dec 2, 2017 14:55:44 GMT -5
And we change the Jack to...
(K ♠)
...a King! A little better this time around, but you still have to guess the next card. Is it higher or lower than a King?
Post by grapebuy789 on Dec 2, 2017 18:10:45 GMT -5
Lower
Post by Bill Skinner on Dec 2, 2017 23:00:14 GMT -5
Lower than a King?
(2 ♥)
ding!
Yes, a deuce! Now would you like to continue or freeze? (although I know what you want to say to that, not that I'm influencing you or anything)
