Cle'ment is the current champion, looking to win his third match on Gambit P.M.
Who wishes to challenge him?
Also, would both Cle'ment and whoever wishes to play against him send to me via private message twenty buzz codes? They should be from 1 to 100 inclusive.
Thank you,
Bill

picosong.com/wicm/Frank Caliendo (as Kenny Williams): You have the knowledge. You know the odds. All the rest is in the cards... On Gambit... PM. A game of skill, fate and fortune. And now, from the Bob Barker Studio at CBS Television City in Hollywood... your host this evening... Bill McDee! "That's me!" (applause) I thank you kindly, and I welcome you one and all to another exciting episode of Blackjack with a brain. We call it "Gambit" and we call it "PM" as this is the evening edition of your favorite television blackjack game! And of course we cannot have a card game unless we have someone to deal those cards, and I'm pleased and proud to introduce you all to her, she's a real peach, even though she doesn't live in Georgia, she's our lovely dealer, not to mention my lovely niece, Lynn Jennings! (applause) Good evening Lynn! Good evening everybody! Good evening Uncle Bill! Bill - Lynn, you and your new husband John just recently returned from about a 3 week stay over in Italy. As you can see, during your absence, we did a bit of remodeling of the set to give it more of an evening feel, and to help differentiate from our Father program, Gambit, seen here every Monday through Friday hosted by the one and only Tony Lane. Lynn, after that long trip and flight home, are you feeling up to the task of dealing out the cards and introducing this evening's contestants? picosong.com/q789/Lynn - I sure am! First from Iowa, a grocery customer clerk, Matt Ringgenberg! (applause) And our returning champion, he's been with us for two evenings, and so far has won a total in cash and prizes of $14,913, all the way from France, it's Cle'ment! (applause) Good evening and good luck to you both. Back to you Bill!

Thank you Lynn.
Matt, it's a pleasure to have you here. We had you on before and it's a pleasure to welcome you back once again.
I used to do customer service work, and I know from time to time one can encounter a rather testy customer. I've never had the pleasure of visiting Iowa so I don't know much about how the people are there. Have you had any experience with testy or difficult customers, or are the patrons of your store there in Iowa relatively pleasant?

I had a feeling they were. I hope your experience here this evening will also prove to be pleasant Matt. Good luck to you.
Back for his third time, with close to $15,000 in cash and prizes, all the way from Algiers??? France, Cle'ment!
(applause)
Cle'ment did I pronounce that correctly, Algiers? And that is located in France?

Angers. Like in "can't" (English pronunciation) and "J". It's a town located 180 miles southwest of Paris.

It's a pleasure to have you back again. Perhaps if you win tonight, you might win a trip to France? You can never tell what will turn up on that Gambit Board, however in order to get there, you have to win the best 2 out of 3 game match. Lynn is breaking the seal on a brand new deck of 52 freshly shuffled cards. These cards were shuffled under the ever watchful eye of CBS Standards and Practices. Matt, as the challenger, you get to cut the cards. Please select a number higher than 0, but lower than 52. This will represent how deeply into the deck we will cut. I'll remind you both that we use the same deck of cards throughout our match, and that includes our mini-bonus game "Beat the Dealer". Whoever wins this first game of the match will get to play one hand of BlackJack against Lynn using the same deck of cards, for a $2,500 cash bonus. And speaking of bonuses, the winner of the first game receives $50 per point while the runner-up receives $25 per point as long as the runner-up doesn't go over 21. But if you get 21 exactly, not only do you instantly win the game and $1,050, but you will also win the Any 21 Jackpot. It was hit yesterday so we re-start it again, and for our first game tonight it is worth... (ding) $1,000, but if you get 21 in just 2 cards we pay Double... In this case, $2,000. Matt, cut those cards please if you would be so kind. Higher than 0 and lower than 52.

Very well, the cards are cut, and the first card up for grabs tonight... A very nice one, the King of Clubs. To earn $100 and control of a card, our players must be the first to ring in and come up with a correct answer to a question. If the answer they give is wrong, or if they do not answer in time (48 hour deadline), the $100 and control of the card automatically goes to the other player. I will ask the question. When I call on you, please give me your answer and also indicate if you wish to keep the card or pass it to your opponent. Here's the first question... Mister Olson, Mister Wilson, or Mister Rogers, which one was the next door neighbor to comic strip character "Dennis the Menace"? www.qwizx.com/gssfx/usa/tempt-ringin.wavCle'ment!

This will be a wild guess. Mr. Olson?
(if correct, keep the card)

Post by billmcdee on Oct 19, 2014 7:14:45 GMT -5
It indeed was a wild guess, as it is incorrect I'm afraid. The correct answer was Mr. Wilson.
Matt, this gives you $100 and control over the King. Do you want that King or pass it to Cle'ment?

Keep It.

He wants the King. Knock me over with a sledgehammer (audience laughs)... For $100 and control of the next card in Lynn's deck, which we will not reveal to you... Does water have two hydrogen atoms, two oxygen atoms, or two of each? Cle'ment?

Two hydrogen atoms.
(if right, keep the card)

Lynn, he's keeping the card, what do you have for Cle'ment? (groans from the audience) Cle'ment you do seem to have a penchant for these smaller cards 10 to 4 at the moment. Just a reminder, if you receive a card that gives you a score of 12 or more, and receiving that card puts you in the lead, I will give you the option to freeze at that point. If you elect to continue however, you cannot freeze until you receive another card, and only then if that card puts you in the lead again. Next $100 toss-up question... True or False? 579 is a prime number. Matt.

Post by mringgenberg on Oct 19, 2014 18:00:54 GMT -5
False
(if correct, keep that card)
Post by billmcdee on Oct 21, 2014 3:05:29 GMT -5
You are correct, it is NOT a prime number, as it is divisible by 3! (applause) Let's see Matt's next card please Lynn. If it's an Ace, it's an instant win and $3,050 more for him! (groans) Well a 5, giving you 15. You can elect to freeze at this time and protect your position, or continue on, knowing you may not freeze again until you receive another card. Should that card put you over 21, Cle'ment will win game #1 by default. So do you want to freeze or continue Matt?

Freeze
Post by billmcdee on Oct 21, 2014 15:10:29 GMT -5
That may prove good strategy Matt, for one it prevents you from going over, and for another, Cle'ment will need at least 2 cards more to beat that 15, and to do so, must answer 2 more questions correctly. Cle'ment, one incorrect answer or one missed deadline (48 hours), and the first game will go to Matt. Here's your next question Cle'ment.... Which came first, the Brooklyn Bridge or the Golden Gate Bridge?
Post by CCSCO on Oct 21, 2014 16:58:34 GMT -5
The Brooklyn Bridge?
Post by billmcdee on Oct 22, 2014 1:27:52 GMT -5
The Golden Gate Bridge opened in 1937, the Brooklyn Bridge in 1883! Right for $100! (applause) You cannot win on this next card, but it might put you in position to....Lynn, please... A 7! (cheers & applause) A VERY nice time for that! Only need a 5 or better to win this first game Cle'ment, but a 10 or Face Card will win you a $1,000 bonus. Next question... Harry Truman, Dwight Eisenhower, or John F. Kennedy, which man occupied the Oval Office when Alaska and Hawaii were admitted to the U.S.?
Post by CCSCO on Oct 22, 2014 16:08:51 GMT -5
That's not Kennedy, he's too recent. Truman ended his office in 1953, if I count right and if I don't forget anyone. I'm going to say Truman.
Post by billmcdee on Oct 23, 2014 2:33:56 GMT -5
Truman did end his term in 1953, Alaska & Hawaii joined in 1959 however, (buzzer) So that means game #1 goes to Matt! picosong.com/3zeF/Cle'ment that was a tough way to lose that first game, sitting there with an eleven. We'll still pay you $25 per point, so another $275 for that 11, and a total of $475, and you're still very much alive in this match, as it takes two games to become champ as you well know Matt, another $750 to you as we pay $50 per point to the winning player, so you have $950 thus far, the lead in the match, and when we return, we will have Matt play "Beat the Dealer" for a chance at a $2,500 bonus, right after these words!

www.fileswap.com/dl/7vgdIMa622/05_-_Contestant_Intro_2.mp3.htmlFrank Caliendo (as Kenny Williams) : One member of tonight's studio audience will receive a $200 Spiegel catalog gift certificate. Visit them online at Spiegel, Chicago six o six o nine, and now back to more of Gambit PM and Bill McDee! (applause) That's me! Thank you Frank. We've now come to our mini-bonus game called "Beat the Dealer". Every night the winner of our first game of the best two out of three game match gets to play one standard hand of BlackJack against our lovely dealer Lynn Jennings. The jackpot starts at $2,500 and grows by $500 per night until it is won. It was won on last night's show, therefore tonight, the Beat the Dealer Jackpot is once again starting out worth... (CLANG) Two-thousand, five-hundred dollars! (applause) Matt, if you can indeed beat the dealer, you will win that money. If you and the dealer draw, you'll win a $1,000 bonus, but if you go over 21, or if the dealer beats you, you win no added bonus money here. We are still using the same deck of cards, and Lynn will begin to deal them out now... (audience goes "whoa!!!") A very nice Ace to start. Incidentally, if you get a 21, and beat the dealer, you still win $2,500, there are no Any 21 jackpots in addition during this mini game. Lynn, what is your first card tonight? A six. Matt, if this next card she deals you is a 10, Jack, Queen or King, you will have a 2 card 21 and that will mean an instant win. Lynn? No, but it is a 7 of Clubs, giving you an 8 or an 18 if you wish to freeze on that. The dealer must continue taking cards until she achieves a score of 17 or more. We do not know as yet what that hole card is for Lynn. Matt, do you want to freeze on 18, or take another card?

Freezing at 18, I think that may work out, given the Dealer's up card. Lynn, what's your hole card tonight? A Queen, giving you 16, and you must hit. We want a big card here! A 9 is too much! And Matt wins $2,500!!! picosong.com/3zeF/So Matt, after just one game and one Beat the Dealer Round, you already have $3,450 in cash! We'll see if Cle'ment can tie things up, going for his third match win, right after this!
