Staff announcer: A preview of the high school football game of the week -- tonight at six. (lights in studio gradually are turned on)
(audience cheers) Helloooo, everybody, I'm Doug Morris and welcome to Crag: The Numbers Game -- where 13 *can* be lucky. We crowned a new champion on our last show. He won a lot of money in the match -- but lost money in Super Crag thanks to that durn gremlin. Please make welcome our challenger, Raymond Weaver -- and with $9000 -- yes, there is a way that can be right -- our champion, Frank Sartori. (audience cheers) Raymond, you're the challenger. Please tell us about yourself.

And, Frank, good luck to you as well. Ready to go?

Then let's play Crag. Again, player, good luck to you both. Much like the regular dice game of Crag, our game is all about numbers -- particularly the numbers you can roll on each of the big dice up there. The right answer to each question on our show is a number between 1 and 6 inclusive. Sometimes, we'll ask for the Roman numeral or ordinal equivalent of one of those numbers -- perhaps even a spelled-out word (between "one" and "six" inclusive). And we often have missing digit questions. I'll explain how they work later. (ding)Right now, match starts with a single digit question. So, hands on the buzzers and let's play. Single digit question: An oyster fork has how many prongs? 22 grapebuy789 18 bowlerraymond 72 randomizer.org

Champ says 3 prongs are on an oyster fork. Is that right? (ding; audience applause)'Sho 'nuff. Good job. Frank, as you know, with that right answer, you've earned up to two rolls of our Crag dice. If you like what you come up with on your first roll, take the point value of the combination and we'll move on to the next roll. If you'd rather reroll, freeze up to two dice and reroll the rest. And let's take a gander at our big screen -- where we have the different ways you can score a lot of points. There are four different straights in the game of Crag worth 20 points each. The 1-2-3 make up a low straight; 4-5-6 a high straight; 1-3-5 an odd straight and 2-4-6 an even straight. It doesn't matter how they appear on the board. As long as they're all different and they're all low, high, odd or even, you're 20 points to the good. If you roll three of the same number, that's a triple for 25 points. And, remember, a sum of 13 *is* a great thing on Crag. If you roll different numbers that total 13, I'll double the combination for 26 points. *However* -- if you have a pair of numbers plus an odd number that total 13, that's a Crag for 50 points. (audience cheers)(rolling sfx)So now you know what's worth what, the dice are now rolling. Frank, they lock into your buzzer one at a time. (ding)Stop on a 3. (ding)Stop on another 3. (ding)And stop on a 1. Well, that's not a combination worth 20 or more. Frank, you may end the round here and take the sum of the dice in points -- 7, in this case -- or reroll.

Reroll 'em all, reroll 'em all, reroll 'em all and reroll 'em now. (rolling sfx)There they go. Let's see if you can do better than 7 points. (ding)Great start; a 6. (ding)There's a 5. (ding) (scattered groans) Oh -- *that* bit again. One point shy of the lucky 13. After Round 1: grapebuy789 bowlerraymond Got a dozen points, Frank. Players, remember, to win a numbers game, you must pile up at least 100 points or come closer to 100 by the end of Round 10. The winner of each numbers game collects $2500; the runner-up earns $500. The first player to roll a Crag in the match collects ten crisp new $100 bills. Player who scores $5000 or more wins the match -- and then goes to the Super Crag for a possible million dollar payoff. (audience cheers) (ding)When a new round starts, we clear the board and get ready for a new question. We've just done that -- and here we go. Single digit question: In the 2012 remake of the movie "Total Recall", actress Kaitlyn Leeb played a character with how many breasts? 01 grapebuy789 47 bowlerraymond 10 randomizer.org(scattered laughter from the crowd) (Frank buzzes in)Geez Louise. (more scattered laughter) Just when you thought boob questions were reserved for that other show. (more laughter) Is 3 right? (ding; audience applause) (rolling sfx)Yes -- and wouldn't ya know, the dice are already rolling. (ding)Stop on a 1. (ding)Stop on a 5. (ding) (scattered applause) And stop on a 3 for an odd straight. Frank, would you like an extra 20 points -- or a reroll?

Taking the points and padding the lead. Champ leads 32 to nothing. Raymond, perhaps your luck will change with a missing digit question. Let's play a sample question first. (ding)On the board, we've posted the year Timothy McVeigh was sentenced to death for his part in the Oklahoma City bombing. It's also the year the legendary actor Jimmy Stewart passed away. All you have to do is chime in and tell us the missing digit in the year. (ding)And that missing digit is 1. We now clear the board on what's turned out to be a depressing sample and play this. Missing digit question: Marva Drew in Iowa spent six years typing the numbers 1 through 1,000,000 on a manual typewriter. I'll show you the number of sheets of paper she went through to complete this feat -- and you tell me the missing digit.(ding)10 grapebuy789 62 bowlerraymond 84 randomizer.org(Raymond buzzes in)Raymond?

Raymond's guessing Marva went through over 5000 pieces of paper. Is there any way that can be right? (buzz)No -- but I'm glad we didn't have DBZ interrupt. (scattered laughter from the crowd) Frank, you get a chance to steal. The Crag dice will offer the right answer and two wrong answers. It's up to you to pick the right one. (ding)And the choices come from the low straight. Again the question: Marva Drew in Iowa spent six years typing the numbers 1 through 1,000,000 on a manual typewriter. This is the number of sheets of paper she went through to complete this feat. Raymond, is the first digit in the total a 1, 2 or 3?

Champ says the first digit's a 2. Did she go through 2473 pieces of paper? (ding; audience applause)Yes. I guess knitting wasn't her cup of tea. (scattered laughter from the crowd) (rolling sfx)Chance to pad the lead comes now, Patseen. (ding)Stop on a 1. (ding)Stop on another 1. (ding) (scattered groans) Stop on a 2. Four-point roll. You know what that means! (audience laughs and applauds) McKayla's not impressed. Patseen, I think I know the answer -- but I must ask. Want the 4 points or another roll?

Sorry about that, Frank. You two look so much alike. (scattered laughter from the crowd) (rolling sfx)All the dice reroll for *Frank* as they lock into *Frank's* buzzer. (ding)Stop on a 1 again. (ding)Sheesh -- another 1? (ding) Well -- an improvement. The 4 on the end for a total of 6. Frank with 38. Raymond yet to get on the board. Let's see if that turns around with this question on entertainment. Missing digit question: On the big screen, we'll show you how much money Jimmy Kimmel made for hosting the Oscars in 2017, according to Kimmel himself, and you tell us the missing digit.04 grapebuy789 33 bowlerraymond 17 randomizer.org (Frank buzzes in) Frank?

First time in the game we put some dice on ice. The 1 rerolls shortly but first we freeze the 2 and 4. (freeze sfx) Frank, for the rest of this roun, the 2 and 4 stay on the board. We'll now reroll the 1. (rolling sfx)There it goes. Stop on a 6 and you'll have an even straight. (ding)Got half a 6 instead. The 3 gives you a total of 9 points. (Frasier's theme plays)Frank leads 47 to nothing. Raymond, I hear that music calling. Maybe you'll get lucky with our Scrambled Eggs question. (audience cheers)The question involves an eight-letter scrambled word. I'll give you a clue about the word and then show it to you. Don't tell us what the word is. Instead, tell us how many letters are in their correct positions. As many as six of the letters in the word you're about to see are in their right spots. With the eggs, we've scrambled the letters in the identity of something Alex Trebek had. Tell us how many letters are in their correct positions.55 grapebuy789 56 bowlerraymond 88 randomizer.org(Raymond buzzes in)Raymond?

Raymond says just 1 letter is in its correct position. Is that right? (ding; audience applause)Yes. "Ash cut me" is an anagram of "mustache"; that's what Alex had. Only the E at the end is in the right spot. Of course, "Ash cut me" could also be considered a complaint from Pikachu. (scattered laughter from the crowd) (rolling sfx)Raymond, you're about to get on the scoreboard. A Crag would give you the lead. (ding)Stop on a 4. (ding)Stop on a 2. (ding)And stop on a 5. Raymond, your first roll of the dice is worth 11 points if you stop here.
