The person who was shot at the Washington Hilton in 1981 was... ...Ronald Reagan.(buzzer)X gets the square and the win. (winning bell sounds, win cue, cheers and applause)
And at the end of round 1, our champion Andrew is in the lead with $2,000 and Patseen with $500. Let's quickly clear the board and begin round 2. Not only it's worth $2,000... but also a Secret Square game. If one of you select the secret square and get the question right, you will receive a very special prize. Shadoe...?

I'd like to point out, novice history buff that I am, that Press Secretary James Brady, Secret Service Agent Tim McCarthy and Washington D.C. Policeman Thomas Delahanty were also wounded during the attempted assassination of President Reagan on that awful day. Sadly James Brady ended up in a bad way for the rest of his life, the other three pulled through quite nicely.

Whatever it is, I'd hit it. (audience reacts)
The word is "Bootylicious". Went to #1 on the Hot 100, #6 on the Mainstream Top 40. "Bootylicious".

(lamely impersonates Tommy Chong) Man, they were talking about the ones who hang out backstage at the Fillmore. (scattered laughter from the crowd) Yeah, man, they always got in our way when we tried to practice for our all-star jam sessions. We'd always start late and leave late 'cause they always wanted our autographs on their -- oh, wait man, this is daytime TV. Better stop there.
(more laughter)
(still in character) Before I throw you off the air, man, I'll say the Beach Boys thought the girls from the west coast were hip.

Ok Doug,
I know that you mention you work in radio so you probably know this song by heart. But I have listen to this song a thousand times since I was a little kid on my local oldies station, so I have to disagree.

(siren blares, synth warbles, cheers and applause)Steve Anderson is our Secret Square! Patseen... if you get this question right, you'll be on board all the way to Miami, Florida. Audience... please do not shout out the answers because we cannot process a new Secret Square question until Ryan Morris launches his greatest hits album. (audience laughs)Steve, here comes this Secret Square question. Which mystery novelist writes from first-hand experience, having actually killed somebody in New Zealand, in 1954? Was it Anne Perry, Roald Dahl, or Sue Grafton?
