Thank you, Michael. Get ready, everyone... Jim: You get great calls with the Ace and the deuce, but you just never know when the eight will be loose on... And now, here is the host of Card Sharks, Kevin Kolsen! Me: Hello, everybody! Thank you Jim for that welcome and you folks at home for tuning in. This is Card Sharks where we have lots of money and a car at stake and it all comes from the flip of a single card. We've got two Card Sharks today that have similar goals and similar names. It's happened before so we're going to meet them right now! *Michael and Doug run to their podiums* The Michael on the viewer's left is named Michael Koontz. He has so far won two games and $32,000 in cash. How do you feel about coming back to defend your title yet again?

Maybe you will but here's the one person who doesn't. His name is Michael, too. Michael, tell us about yourself if you please.
(Also if you don't mind, give me your last initial so I can put it on the board to differentiate the names)

I'm Michael Clifford. I'm from Marlton, New Jersey. I'm currently unemployed. I like watching TV (especially game shows), following my Philly sports teams, hanging out with my family & friends, going on the Internet, & listening to classic Casey Kasem American Top 40 shows.

Okay, Michael, I hope things get better for you. Here's the way we play Card Sharks...
MICHAEL K. [CS][CS][CS][CS][CS] MICHAEL C. [CS][CS][CS][CS][CS]
You will call cards from one side of the board to the other. Our lovely models Charlene and Jewel have dealt five cards apiece on the game board and you will have the right to play those cards once you win a high-low question. I will ask a maximum of four in each round and we'll play best two out of three. Michael K., you're our champ so this first high-low question is yours. We surveyed 100 people...
"Do you approve of Barack Obama's handling of ISIS so far?"
How many people say yes they do?
|
|
|
Post by larsonfan1 on Sept 27, 2014 20:47:44 GMT -5
I'll say thats kind of a medium number, so I'll say 58 of them.
|

Post by koopakid17 on Sept 27, 2014 21:21:48 GMT -5
So middling at 58 out of 100...
[58][__][__]
*ding*
Michael C., how about you? Do you think the actual number is higher or lower than that?

I don't think a lot of people approve of how Obama is handling it so far, so I will go lower.

Going lower than that...
[58][__][LO]

Let's see who can read America's minds. The actual number of people who approve of Barack Obama's handling of ISIS so far is...
[58][32][LO]
*dingdingding*
32, you were right, Michael C. Our people just don't seem to have that much faith anymore.
MICHAEL C. [CS][CS][CS][CS][CS]
Which means you have the first shot of the cards. Your base card is...
MICHAEL C. [7♠️][CS][CS][CS][CS]
A seven. Play this card or change?

Can do. That seven is now...
MICHAEL C. [10♣][CS][CS][CS][CS]
A ten. You must play off this card.

Lower than the ten...

Going to freeze right here...
_____MICHAEL C. [10♣]|[9♦][CS][CS][CS]
Not liking that middle card at all so you'll give yourself a one-card advantage over our champ. Michael and Michael, our next question is going to involve ten members of our studio audience. Come on up, please.
*cheers and applause as the audience members approach the stage*
All ten of these audience members are film critics. Before the show, we invited them into our conference room and had them watch the two Sharknado movies. When they were finished, we asked them which film they liked better.
Michael C., how many film critics said they preferred Sharknado 2?

Personally, I've never seen the Sharknado movies. I'll go with the old adage that the sequel is never better than the original. I'll say 3 critics liked Sharknado 2.

Three out of ten liked Sharknado 2 better...
[__][__][3]
Michael K., how about you?

I'll say it's a little bit higher.

A little higher says our champ...
[HI][__][3]
*ding*
The actual number of critics who thought Sharknado's sequel was better than the original is...
[HI][6][3]
*dingdingding*
Six of them! Our champ will regain control of the cards. Now, I'm curious. Which of you answered yes to this question?
*six critics raise their hands*
You with the bow tie, tell me why you thought Sharknado 2 was better than the first.
Critic: Because they actually cared this time!
*audience laughter*
Me: Sometimes it all depends on the execution. How about a hand for our ten critics, everybody?
*cheers and applause as the critics return to their seats*
MICHAEL K. [CS][CS][CS][CS][CS]
Here's your base card, Michael...
MICHAEL K. [8♣][CS][CS][CS][CS]
You're looking at an eight...for now. Play or change?

Change it!
|
|

Post by koopakid17 on Oct 2, 2014 18:21:51 GMT -5
You won that question so that eight is now...
MICHAEL K. [7♠️][CS][CS][CS][CS]
A seven, not too much better.

Higher.

Higher than the seven?
MICHAEL K. [7♠️][5♣][CS][CS][CS]
Ooh...
*buzzer*
Tough break for you. That means, Michael C.:
_____MICHAEL C. [10♣]|[9♦][CS][CS][CS]

Lower than the nine?
_____MICHAEL C. [10♣]|[9♦][Q♣][CS][CS]
Nope.
*buzzer*
Neither of our players makes progress after that last question. Time now for number three as we shift the focus back to our champ. Michael K., we asked 100 political campaign advisers:
"Do you approve of 'smear campaigns'?"
How many advisers said yes they do?
|
|
|
Post by larsonfan1 on Oct 4, 2014 6:34:59 GMT -5
I'll say thats a high number, around 76.

I think my fellow Michael is right that it's going to be a high number, but I'm going to say a little bit lower. I think some campaign advisers would much rather approve of honest campaigns than smear campaigns.

Post by koopakid17 on Oct 4, 2014 10:48:41 GMT -5
76 says our champ...
[76][__][__]
And Michael C. says that number is lower...
[76][__][LO]
I can tell you one thing, advisers can do anything just to scrounge for a few votes for their candidates. Let's find out, though. The actual number of political campaign advisers who approve of "smear campaigns" is:
[76][87][LO]
87 of them! Michael C., you were off a bit, it was just a little bit higher. Guess the stress of election year must have them confessing.
*laughter*
MICHAEL K. [7♠️][CS][CS][CS][CS]
Still looking at that seven, Michael K.
