Can't say as I blame ya. No dice are on ice. Let's reroll 'em all, please. (rolling sfx) There they go. (ding) Stop on a 5. (ding)Stop on a 1. (ding) (scattered groans) And stop on another 1. You end up 2 points to the worse. Kourtney still with a big lead. Patseen, a Crag gives you the lead as we start Round 6. Patseen says 2 pandas. Does he say right? (ding; audience applause)Yes. One eats shoots and leaves -- the other -- nevermind. (rolling sfx)Patseen, a lucky roll could roughly double your score or give you the lead.

(inaudible explanation from the judge) Okay, fair enough. Players, I'm afraid the wrong method came up on the screen. We were supposed to have division on our makeshift chalkboard instead of subtraction. With subtraction and the clues for the variables we gave you, we can't arrive at an answer higher than 0 and lower than 7. For those playing the home game, the right answers was 10 crayfish legs minus 2 Minka Kelly legs for a total of 8. It should've been 10 divided by 5 for 2. (obvious edit) So we're going to leave that subtraction problem setup on the board. I've just been given a replacement question that still involves subtraction -- and will lead to a result between 1 and 6 inclusive. So here's your substitute question. Without counting jokers, if "a" equals the number of cards in a standard deck of playing cards and "b" equals the number of playing cards in a deck intended for the game of Pinochle, "x" equals what single digit number? 35 patpun2016 26 pathfinder20 15 randomizer.org (Patseen buzzes in) Patseen? [And note from Doug: In another mistake, the buzz codes revealed earlier were actually intended for Round 8. Patseen and Kourtney will keep those buzz codes -- but randomizer.org will have to be reactivated for a new number.]

Patseen, this is Crag: The Numbers Game -- not *Golf*: The Numbers Game. (audience laughs and applauds) Let's see if *FOUR!* is the right answer. (more laughter) (ding; audience applauds) It is. Without the jokers, you'll have 52 cards in a standard deck and 48 cards in a Pinochle deck. So, 52-48=4. (rolling sfx)There go the dice. Let's see if your luck turns around, Patseen.

Patseen says 3 is the last digit. Are there 23 members on a grand jury? (ding; audience applause)Yes. Quick story: I served on a grand jury the week of the O.J. verdict. Knowing it was going to be much more than a big deal, the D.A. extended our lunch break just to see the results. (rolling sfx)Patseen, another chance at the dice. (ding)Stop on a 1. (ding)Well -- a 4. (ding)And another low roll with a 3 on the end. This late in the game, I have an idea of the answer. I have to ask -- want the 8 points or a reroll?

Rerolling 'em all? (Patseen nods head yes) (rolling sfx) Fair enough. Let's see what happens here. (ding) Stop on a 5. (ding)There's a 6. (ding) (scattered cheers) And a 2 completes a non-Crag 13 for 26 points. (scattered woos) Yes, look at what that did to the score. Patseen up to 75, Kourtney still at 74. Exciting finish shaping up as we go to Round 9. Missing digit question: Ben Hogan, Byron Nelson and Sam Snead have at least two things in common. They're legendary golfers and they were all born in the same year. I'll show you that year -- and you tell me the missing digit. Courtney's saying the golfers were born in the fifties. Were Ben Hogan, Byron Nelson and Sam Snead born in 1952? (buzz)No. 'Fraid not. Patseen, a chance to win the game here. First, with the chance to capitalize, the Crag dice offer the right answer and two wrong answers to the missing digit. It's up to you to pick the correct choice. (ding)Again, Ben Hogan, Byron Nelson and Sam Snead have at least two things in common. They're legendary golfers and they were all born in the same year. Patseen, is the missing digit in the year 1, 2 or 3?

So, the fact that I don't know them, they must be in a really past age. So, let's go one. (ABC)

And we're going to move forward and start our second numbers game right now. A new race to 100 points is starting now. Patseen if you win this, you're back at the Super Crag. Kourtney, based on our scoring system, you'll need to win this game to force the third and final game of the match. (ding)And we're going to start with a single digit question. Here we go. Single digit question: How many of Pittsburgh's professional sports teams won championships during the calendar year of 1979? 23 patpun2016 43 pathfinder20 56 randomizer.org(Kourtney buzzes in)Kourtney?
