All right, I need a new project to work on, so I've decided to create a syndicated version of Card Sharks.
Rules: We have four contestants (one champion and three challengers). Two players each compete in a qualifying game (standard CS rules, five cards per row, four questions, etc.). The winner of each game gets $1,000 and moves on to the championship round. The runner-up goes home with their winnings and some consolation prizes. Any contestant who runs all five of his/her cards without a mistake gets a $5,000 bonus.
Championship Game: The winners of the first and second games play each other for the right to play the Money Cards. Again, standard rules apply, five cards per row, four questions, etc. The winner of that game wins an additional $1,500 (for a total of $2,500) and gets to play the Money Cards for thousands more.
Money Cards: The champion gets a new stake of $2,500 and three cards on the bottom row to bet on. Second row, we add $5,000 and three new cards. Minimum bets are $100 until the Big Bet on the third row, where the player must risk at least half the money. The champ has three spare cards they can use once per row to change a card he/she doesn't like. The champ can win as much as $400,000. In addition, we give the champion a Joker and hide three more in the deck. Duplicate cards mean a push, no win, no loss.
Prize Game: The champion uses the Jokers earned in the Money Cards on a row of 7 numbered cards (1-7). Four cards hide the word "NO". However, one card hides the word "TRIP", which is worth a luxury vacation somewhere in the world. One card hides the word "CAR", which is worth a luxury car. And one card hides a dollar sign, which either doubles the earnings in the Money Cards or adds $50,000 cash to their winnings, whichever is worth more. In addition, should they find the dollar sign, they can risk their Money Card winnings (plus the car and/or trip, if applicable) for a chance at $1,000,000.
Million Dollar Game: The player faces a board with 10 panels, each one containing a letter in the word "CARD SHARKS". Behind one of them is a dollar sign. If the player finds the dollar sign, they win their Money Card earnings plus $1,000,000 in cash. If they find a "NO", however, they lose their Money Card winnings (plus the car and/or trip, if applicable).
Champions: Champions must retire after five matches. However, upon winning the fifth match, the retiring champ gets one free chance at the Million Dollar Game.
So, who'd like to play?

Promo Announcer: (VO) You're watching KCAL 9, Always On. [LOUDER CHEERS AND APPLAUSE](I walk to center stage, already wearing a mic on my lapel) Greg: Thank you very much, Gary Kroeger. Welcome to the syndicated version of Card Sharks, where Aces are high, deuces are low, and players can win a fortune on the turn of a single card. (audience cheers) Yes, indeed. It could be a good morning, afternoon, or night---- had to cover all my options (audience chuckles)--- if you play your cards right. Now, for that opening poem, we usually have people send in opening poems, but since this is our first episode, I wrote it. I usually don't watch the show since this is our first show, but if I did, it would be on KCAL 9, Los Angeles. Now, the best things in life all come in pairs - just look at our two croupiers! Lexi Kaufman and Pamela Martinez! [WILD CHEERS AND APPLAUSE]"Hellooooo, ladies", as Doug Morris would say. Lexi: Hi, Greg. It's great to be here.
Pamela: Quick question, why didn't you get the Bella Twins?
Greg: Why didn't I get the Bella Twins? Because John Cena would come over here and ask me why I was interrupting his wedding plans, then he'd throw me in the wrestling ring and beat me up on Pay-Per-View. (audience laughs) That's why I didn't get the Bella Twins, ladies. Now, without further ado, let's open up the board and get to the cards! (the board opens up as the ladies begin dealing) [MAIN THEME, CHEERS AND APPLAUSE]
[JAMES] [CS][CS][CS][CS][CS]
[KOURTNEY] [CS][CS][CS][CS][CS]
And while the ladies are dealing, let's meet our first two Card Sharks. [BOTH CONTESTANTS RUN TO THEIR LECTERNS, CHEERS AND APPLAUSE]
[JAMES] [KOURTNEY]
[ ] [ ] [ ] [ ] [ ] [ ] [ ] [ ] [ ]
And our first two players are James Greek and Kourtney Wilson. First off, let's say hello to James. Hiya, James. Tell us The James Greek Story.

Good, good. Glad to hear it. Well, let's hope what you do here will lead to a lot of big money. Good luck to you. And next, we have Kourtney Wilson. Hiya, Kourtney. Tell us about yourself.

Well right now I'm as cashier at Firehouse Subs. I enjoy reading, writing, and learning about different languages and cultures. Recently I started to pick up Hangul (written language of Korean.)

The written language of Korea? Hmm, how far along are you? Are you up to words yet, or still letters, or what?

Right now I can write short sentences right now. Like this for example: 안녕하세요. 저는 코트니 윌슨 이에요. 오늘 카드 살크 놀이에요. ( hello. My name is Kourtney Wilson. Today I am playing Card Sharks.)

Well, very good. Very good. (audience cheers) Good luck to you today.
Now, before we begin, you two were each supposed to cut your respective decks before the show. Did you cut the cards?

Well good. Good luck to both of you. (I walk over to the board) [JAMES] [CS][CS][CS][CS][CS]
[KOURTNEY] [CS][CS][CS][CS][CS]
Now, for those of you who haven't been watching the daytime version, you need to get up earlier. (audience chuckles) For those of you who have never seen this show before, there are countless episodes up on YouTube, but I'll explain the rules anyway. As you can see, each player has a deck of 52 playing cards. We've dealt out five for each player. James plays the top row, Kourtney plays the bottom. Object of the game is to make your way across the board by predicting whether the next card is higher or lower in rank than the one preceding it. You may freeze any time you wish because if you make an incorrect prediction, all your progress to that point is erased and you start at your base card again. First player to make it across the board wins $1,000 and goes on to play the winner in the second game for another $1,500 and a chance at hundreds of thousands more! (audience ooooohs) Now, unlike the daytime version, we don't have any prize cards in here because Jennifer had to draw the line somewhere. Now, you can't get to the cards until you correctly answer one of our questions, and bringing them in is none other than G2-T2! (G2-T2 hovers all the way to center stage, I grab the first card) We drew numbers to see who would stand in which position. James, you're standing in red for this game, so we begin with you. James..... now, one of President Trump's campaign promises was that he would build a wall at the Mexican border and that the Mexicans would pay for it. So, we went all over Mexico and asked 100 Mexicans..... Would you pay for this wall? How many Mexicans said, "Yes, I'd pay for the wall"?

Whew! That's a pretty low number there. I think Mexicans would want to go to America! I would say 8!

James thinks 8 out of 100 Mexicans would pay for the wall. Kourtney, do you think that answer is higher or lower?

I say even lower that.

All right, explain your reasoning.

I don't think they really want the wall as much as we do. I feel like some people want to isolate the US from others countries. It's a global economy and that's not going to happen.

[DING] [JAMES] [KOURTNEY]
[ ] [ ] [ ] [ 8 ] [ ] [ ] [ ] [ ] [LOWER]
All right. If it is lower, then you'll play your cards. Otherwise, James will play his. If one of you gets the answer on the nose, you'll receive a cash bonus of $1,000. The actual number of Mexicans who would pay for President Trump's wall is.... [JAMES] [KOURTNEY]
[HIGHER] [ ] [ ] [ 8 ] [ 13 ] [ ] [ ] [ ] [ ]
[DING-DING-DING, APPLAUSE]13! Just a little bit higher, but still a low number. Well, well..... (I walk over to the board)
[JAMES] [CS][CS][CS][CS][CS]
[KOURTNEY] [CS][CS][CS][CS][CS]
James, you have control of the board, and here's your first base card....
[JAMES] [QD][CS][CS][CS][CS]
[KOURTNEY] [CS][CS][CS][CS][CS]
A Queen! Do you want to change that card, or keep it?

Lower than the Queen..... (I turn over the card) [JAMES] [QD][10C][CS][CS][CS]
[KOURTNEY] [CS][CS][CS][CS][CS]
[DING, APPLAUSE]A ten! Play on or freeze?

Ahhhh.... I'll freeze

(I move the freeze bar) [JAMES] [QD]<10C>[CS][CS][CS]
[KOURTNEY] [CS][CS][CS][CS][CS]
(I walk back to G2-T2) James protects his position and keeps control away from Kourtney, who has this next question..... Kourtney..... we surveyed 100 teenage girls who are single, none of them in a relationship, and we asked them.... Are you on birth control? How many single, teenage girls said they were on birth control?

I think with everything is happening today I would assume that quite a few are having sex. I do think the parents want to protect them. It's up the middle for me with 62.

62 out of 100 single, teenage girls are on birth control, according to Kourtney. Higher or lower, and why, James?
