(he stops)He got it! (fanfare)(camera flashes between James and the $10) (cheers and applause) Pat: $35 James: $35 Sam: $34
Well well, how do you like that? We've got a tie for first now, but Sam's only trailing by $1. A nice, close game. We'll have more of it after this. From Las Vegas! (main theme to commercial)(shot of Stacey lounging by the pool) (cheers and applause)
(once again, Greg is in casual clothes) Greg: And now, we take you down the Stairway to Stardom. This is a local show from New York City that ran from 1979 to 1992. If America's Got Talent was around then, you'd probably see these people auditioning for it. Why am I showing it to you? Because I can. (fade in, main theme closes, cheers and applause)Welcome back. We've got a nice, close game on our hands. Pat: $35 James: $35 Sam: $34
The two challengers Pat and James both lead Sam by a buck. Sam's going to attempt to change that. Back to the questions. 1. What is tattooed on Popeye's arm? 2. Who played his first game for D.C. United in 2003 at the tender age of 14? 3. What kind of object is smaller than its own Schwarzschild radius? 4. Citizens of what empire are credited with starting the tradition of gift giving? 5. What brand of watch "takes a licking and keeps on ticking"?(buzzcodes and answers, please)

1. What is tattooed on Popeye's arm? (buzzcode: 51) *Pat buzzes in (42)*Pat? Pat: Anchors! That's right, and you pull ahead to $40. (ding) Pat: $40 James: $35 Sam: $34
2. Who played his first game for D.C. United in 2003 at the tender age of 14? (buzzcode: 43) *Sam buzzes in (19)*Sam? Sam: Freddy AduThat's right, and you move up to $39. (ding) Pat: $40 James: $35 Sam: $39
3. What kind of object is smaller than its own Schwarzschild radius? (buzzcode: 45) *Sam buzzes in (71)*Sam? Sam: Black holesYes, sir, and you move up to $44. (ding) Pat: $40 James: $35 Sam: $44
4. Citizens of what empire are credited with starting the tradition of gift giving? (buzzcode: 8) *Sam buzzes in (43)*Sam? Sam: The Roman EmpireRight you are! (ding) Pat: $40 James: $35 Sam: $49
5. What brand of watch "takes a licking and keeps on ticking"? (buzzcode: 61) *Sam buzzes in (60)*Sam? Sam: TimexRight again, up to $54. (ding) Pat: $40 James: $35 Sam: $54
[INSTANT BARGAIN]Instant Bargain time again. Sam, you've got a $14 lead over Pat. How'd you like this? (Mitch, dressed like a French king, prepares to sit upon this "throne")Stacey: Sam, now when you sit upon the, ahem, "throne", you can really sit upon a throne. Inspired by Dagobert, the last ruler of the 8th Century French Merovingian dynasty, this toilet will delight even the most jaded Royal. It's constructed entirely from ash wood and decorated with hand painted Moustier Polychrome designs. The musical chime "Le Bon Roi Dagobert" begins playing as the lid is raised, and a tug on the pull chain activates the flush, accompanied by the ringing of a bell. And, believe it or not, this toilet can be found in the homes of Tina Turner, Boris Becker, and others. It's by Herbeau. It's normally priced at....$21,090But tonight on $ale of the Century, it's yours for only....$11(audience cheers as I join them) Greg: Boy.... now is this a prize!? Or is this a prize!? Now, there's no better person sitting on this throne because I've always thought Mitch was full of something. Now we know what it is. (audience laughs) Sam..... Sam, forgive me for asking a personal question. How's your toilet? Could you use one of these?

My WC is fine, and I'm not sending $11 down the proverbial for a new one.

Post by palmer7 on Dec 17, 2016 16:57:16 GMT -5
(audience chuckles) All right, all right. Tell you what I'll do. I agree, $11 is a bit high, and I didn't get to do any bargaining last time. So, here's what I'll do. I'll do something similar to what I did last night with your namesake from Wales. I'll throw in enough money to make the whole thing worth $25,000...... and I'll knock the price down to $6. You'd get this toilet, $3,910 in cash, and you'd still have an $8 lead! Going once.... going twice...... (audience shouts suggestions)

No sale. Right. (audience cheers, I walk back to my lectern and stare at the audience in disbelief) That's the first time we've ever had an audience cheer for a "no sale". Right, back to the questions.
1. In which part of the body are your metatarsals located? 2. What Broadway musical featured the song "Solla Sollew"? 3. What wax sculptor made the death mask of Marie Antoinette?
(buzzcodes and answers, please)

[FAME GAME]And Sam's lead is evaporating quickly. Sam, that $15 we're putting on the board would help, and the car or cash might ease the pain. Looking for a famous person. I was born in Louisville, Kentucky, on November 23, 1971. My father is the first man to hold the Triple Crown, but I did not pursue his profession. Instead, I studied Philosophy at UCLA, where I was a member of the Chi Phi Fraternity. I was roommates with Wil Wheaton, and when I graduated from college, I had a job ready at MTV. After my two shows there were cancelled, I starred in the UPN comedy Guys Like Us; the show aired 12 episodes before it was cancelled in January 1999. Long before Lin-Manuel Miranda, I portrayed Alexander Hamilton in The Radio Adventures of Dr. Floyd. I am currently the Chief Creative Officer at Nerdist News, and I also host the Nerdist podcast.(buzzcode and answer, please)

["DANCING OSCILLATORS"]Burton: (VO) It's an exotic virtual run monitor for your treadmill!
This dome-shaped monitor energizes treadmill workouts by taking runners on a virtual adventure in some of the world’s most exotic locales. Found in Europe’s top-tier health clubs, the 38" hemispheric, concave monitor sets up in front of your existing treadmill and spans its full width to create an incredibly lifelike portal. A wireless sensor attached to the treadmill syncs with the monitor, which automatically adjusts the movie speed to match your running pace. Furnished by Hammacher Schlemmer. It's a prize worth $8,000!
(audience cheers) Greg: That's a great prize, Pat. I'm sure you'll enjoy it. Speaking of Chris Hardwick.... what a great guy. After watching the preview episode of The Wall, I sent him a tweet telling him he was much better than the game. Here's what he said. "What a well intentioned insult!" (audience chuckles, back to Greg) How was I to know he was the executive producer? We'll be right back. (main theme to commercial)(shot of Burton playing the slots) (fade to commercial)
(back to Greg in casual clothes) Greg: Whew..... that was bad, I know. That was terrible. All right, I'll find a way to make it up next break. But now, back to the show. (fade in, main theme closes, cheers and applause)Greg: Welcome back. It's still a relatively close race. Pat: $50 James: $35 Sam: $59
Sam is leading by $9, but Pat's on his trail. We've got a really big CashCard coming up, but first, these questions. 1. Which was the first ocean to be crossed by ship and by plane? 2. What planet is tilted on its axis more than any other? 3. What part of your body gets its name from the Latin word meaning "ring" or "circle"? 4. What film had Jack Nicholson's character in the Overlook Hotel for the winter? 5. What is the real name of the character identified in this theme song?[MYSTERY THEME by Alan Thicke plays](buzzcodes and answers, please)

3. What part of your body gets its name from the Latin word meaning "ring" or "circle"? (buzzcode: 45) (nobody buzzes in) (time's up)Your anus! Get it? Uranus, your anus. Ha ha ha ha ha! (from his booth, Burton gestures for two showgirls to hold up a giant sign with a mailing address) GREG PALMER $ALE OF THE CENTURY 2900 W. ALAMEDA AVE. SUITE 805 BURBANK, CA 91505 Burton: That's Greg Palmer, care of Sale of the Century, 2900 West Alameda Avenue, Suite 805, Burbank, California, 91505(the members of the audience who get the joke laugh, Greg looks at the audience and Burton with mock disdain) Greg: Quisling. 4. What film had Jack Nicholson's character in the Overlook Hotel for the winter? (buzzcode: 92) *James buzzes in (75)*James? James: The shiningThat's right, and you go to $40! (ding) Pat: $55 James: $40 Sam: $64

[CASHCARD]CashCard time, and Sam, the pleasure is yours. And Sam....... you chose quite a night to go for CashCard, because tonight, on $ale of the Century, on NBC, taped at the Tropicana Las Vegas, in beautiful Las Vegas, Nevada, in these United States of America..... we are offering a prize that is worth more, more I say, than EIGHTY SEVEN THOUSAND dollars! (audience goes into an uproar) More than $87,000! Look at the giant screen! (the giant screen shows Stacey out back, pre-recorded with.....) Burton: (VO) A NEW MOTORHOME!(the audience goes wild, reaction of Sam, screen wipes to the motorhome) Burton: (VO) It's the 2017 Coachmen Freelander 21RSC, providing more factory installed features than anyone else, unparalleled value and reliable design and quality at an affordable price. With a spacious queen size bed slideout, dinette sleeper and overhead cab bunk, the 21RS has enough room for 6 people to rest peacefully.
This 24-foot, 3-inch motorhome comes with all the standard features! Furnished by Mike Thompson's RV Super Stores! It's a prize worth....
$87,791(audience cheers, back to studio) Greg: But there's more! Sam, if you recall correctly, on our last show, the CashCard was not won, so it rises to a whopping...... $100,000ONE HUNDRED THOUSAND dollars! (audience cheers loudly) It's Big Money Week, what'd you expect? Now, Sam...... the bad news about this whole thing is that you only have a $9 lead over Pat. If you bought in, you'd give him a $6 lead. However, Sam.... you're a great player. We'll be putting $25 up on the Fame Game board, you'd have a chance to get $100 in the Speed Round, there's still plenty of score money to be won. However, it's all up to you. How much are you willing to bet on yourself? Will you go for it? (audience shouts suggestions)

(Stacey presses a button, and the reels spin)It's the prize! You've won the motorhome! (audience cheers loudly, some random people run up on stage and cheer Sam on, I walk over and give the keys to Sam) Congratulations, you've just won an almost-$88,000 motorhome! Your thoughts, sir?

All right, Sam, you've done well, and I believe that win brings your total to over $100,000. (audience cheers) The CashCard goes up to $150,000 tomorrow night. Now, back to the questions.

[FAME GAME]Well, we have the $15 and the $25 up there. Hitting either one of those would help you a lot. Looking for some famous fictional characters. (read in a bad Canadian accent) Good day, eh? We're a pair of brothers created originally as filler to both satisfy and mock network Canadian content demands. (And you gotta name both of us.) Our origins came about when a certain sketch comedy show moved to CBC from Global. Due to the difference in the amount of time allocated for commercials, each episode to be broadcast on that network was two minutes longer than those syndicated to the U.S.. The CBC network heads asked the show's producers to add specifically identifiably Canadian content for those two minutes, the hosers. Well, considering the show had been taped in Canada, with a mostly Canadian cast and crew, for two years, that was a stupid request. So, we didn't put in too much effort. (In fact, we hardly put in any.) Our sketches used two actors and a single camera operator, and were mostly improvised. To their shock, the comedians who portrayed us found that this filler material had become the most popular part of the show. (Yeah, we were like the first Canadian Steve Urkel, eh?) Though initially intended for Canadian TV only, some of the two-minute "Great White North" segments would find their way into U.S. versions of the 30-minute shows due to a shortage of content that week. When NBC ordered the 90-minute shows for the 1981 season, they specifically cited good affiliate feedback on the "two dumb Canadian characters", that's us, and requested that we be included in every program.(buzzcode and answer, please)
