Greetings, all. The $40,000 Chain Reaction is about to start again.
Bill McDee returns with one win and $6780. As you've probably seen in the archives, Bill's written chains for this series. But all the chains in this forthcoming episode are of my writing.
So with that, we seek Bill's challenger. The player closest to the right answer, high or low, takes on the champ.
The question...
On September 8, 2012, at 2:00am Central, we recorded a GSN rerun of "The $25,000 Pyramid"; this episode was hosted by Dick Clark. Not counting bonuses from the 7-11 card and any tie-breaker after a score of 21 points to 21 points, how much money was awarded to the contestants in this half-hour episode? We can confirm no individual player swept for $25,000 -- so please respond in increments of $50 and make sure your answer is lower than $20,050.
This game operates on 24-hour deadlines. Please PM me your answer in 24 hours from now. Please also be specific when PMing me that you're trying to qualify for Chain Reaction.

And that last bonus chain was a lulu! I only won $30 LOL, that has to be the worst bonus game in the history of C.R.

Okay, no response to qualifying. BTW, right answer was $10,300. So -- first one to respond to this thread gets to play against Bill.

All,
Due to some difficulties with my machine at home, I will be off the grid later today.
I'm taking it to Geek Squad to get looked at tomorrow at 3pm, but I will be disconnecting it this afternoon when I get home so it will be ready to go tomorrow.
I'll try to update the threads where I am hosting once more when I get home, if my machine cooperates. I'll try to update things on other threads where I am a contestant either from my work computer or from my son's or my wife's computer when home.
If I am a bit slower than usual to reply to a thread, this is why.
Best,
Bill

Thanks, Sam.
With Bill's absence, it might be a day or two before we start Chain Reax.

(theme plays; audience applause)The game is -- The $40,000 Chain Reaction -- where one word leads to another -- and the right word could lead to a big payoff.(more applause) Helloooooo, everybody. I'm Doug Morris and welcome to The $40,000 Chain Reaction. Great to be back with you after the Olympics. And it's great to welcome our players. We welcome back Bill, our champion, with one win and $6780. Here to challenge him is Sam. (audience cheers) Bill, we've been away for awhile. So please remind the viewers a little something about yourself.

I'm 49 years young, originally from the Trenton, New Jersey area, but have lived in the Washington Crossing, Pennsylvania area for the past 19 years.
I've been married for 25 years, we have one son who is a high school senior.
I enjoy vintage TV, vintage game shows, writing, NFL football mostly of the past, and word games.

Sounds like we've got a couple of gamers ready to play this game -- so let's open up that board and get to the -- uh -- chain. (board opens as part of the theme plays) (scattered laughter from the crowd) Almost had shows mixed up. Let's set up our first chain. As we do, players, please note we had to do some abbreviating in the top and bottom links which we spot for you right about now. (ding)This chain starts with GETS THE WORM -- and it ends with LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA, HELLO. There are five links in between. Each link in this opening chain is worth $250. The player who completes the chain scores an additional $250. First player to reach $5000 wins the game -- and the chance to parlay pennies into a possible $40,000. (audience cheers)One more thing, players, while we're using abbreviations on the head start links, the words in the remaining links are not abbreviated. And any link may have more than one word. So with all that disclosed, Sam, you're the challenger. You may give or take a letter below GETS THE WORM or above LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA, HELLO.

I'm guessing he thought Rooster since Earlybird was two words above Special.
Anyway, this time I'll give a letter to myself below SPECIAL please, Doug.
