Jim Thornton: Today on Gambit, find a dollar sign on the very first selection and win...
And now, from Television City in Hollywood, here is the host of Gambit-- Tony Lane![CHEERS AND APPLAUSE]It is I... Thank you, Jim Thornton. Good morning, folks... and happy HUMP DAY! Welcome to Gambit. Television's game of skill, fate, and fortune. It's the show where a 21 or blackjack could lead to a cavalcade of cash, prizes, and... of course... $1 million. I just want to let you know that we've been given a face lift on the Gambit Board before the start of the show. We'll get to that later in our Beat The Dealer round. Right now, let's meet our hostess. Here's Jennifer Love Hewitt. Oh Jenn...? [WILD CHEERS AND APPLAUSE]Jennifer: That's my name... don't wear it out. Ha ha ha. Thank you all... and I thank you to the folks at home watching us. Let's continue our Hump Day festivities as I introduce today's players. [CONTESTANTS' INTRO]Our challenger for today is a fan of game shows and video games. From the eastern lower part of Alabama, meet JAMES GREEK! [CHEERS AND APPLAUSE]And playing against James is our returning champion. Making his third appearance, he has a total of $255,550 in cash and prizes. He's a supermarket clerk from Council Bluffs, Iowa. Meet MATT RINGGENBERG! [CHEERS AND APPLAUSE]Tony: Thank you, Jenn. We'll see you after the break. First, let's meet James. Pleasure to have you here. Please tell us about yourself.

*back to studio* [CHEERS AND APPLAUSE]Welcome back to Gambit. Now that Matt and James are ready, let's begin round 1. And remember, the object is to get closer to 21, without going over, to win each round. Let's take a look at the big money board on my podium. [CASH REGISTER RINGS]Whoever gets a combination of at least three cards wins the Any 21 Jackpot worth $3,000. [CHEERS AND APPLAUSE]But whoever gets an Ace and either a 10 or face card, wins the Blackjack Bonus worth $15,000! [MORE CHEERS AND APPLAUSE]Before the start of the show, the guys at Tandem Technologies, a RANDOM.ORG company, have delivered our card dealer Jennifer a deck of 54 gigantic sized playing cards that were shuffled, cut, and sealed for her. Right now, she's gonna break the seal and we'll begin round 1 with the first card up for grabs. Jenn...? Jennifer: Our first card in round 1 is a Queen. [CHEERS AND APPLAUSE]Tony: Each correct answer is worth $100 and the player who is closer to 21 or have your opponent to be busted is worth $500. Here comes the first multiple choice question. Dan Rather, Peter Jennings, or Tom Brokaw-- Who became the host of The CBS Evening News after the retirement of Walter Cronkite?*You have 24 hours to PM your buzz-code between 1 and 100.

Dan Rather is correct. [APPLAUSE, DING]Your first hundred bucks in the game and you have a decision. Do you want to keep the Queen or pass it to James?

[APPLAUSE]Matt is keeping the Queen for a 10. If he's right on the next question and his next card is an Ace, he'll win the $15,000 Blackjack Bonus and the first game of the match. Jennifer won't reveal the next card unless someone answers the question correctly. Here's the next one. Arnold Palmer, Jack Nicklaus, or Tiger Woods-- Which golfer was the first to amass one million dollars in career winnings?

Jennifer... please reveal James's first card. Jennifer: James... your first card is a Queen. [AUDIENCE OOHS...]Tony: Both players each has a Queen. If one of you get the answer right and the next card is an Ace, one of you will win the Blackjack Bonus of $15,000. Here comes the next multiple choice question. Burns, McIntyre, or Pierce-- On M*A*S*H, when Radar enters the O.R. to tell everyone that Lt. Col. Blake was killed, who told him to put a mask on?

You're right! [APPLAUSE, DING]$200 and a decision. You need an Ace to win $15,000 and the first round of the match. Do you want to keep the card or pass it to Matt?

If James's next card is an Ace, he'll win the $15,000 Blackjack Bonus and the first game of the match. Jennifer, please reveal the next card for James. Jennifer: James... your next card is-- *slowly reveals card* --a Jack. [AUDIENCE GROANS, APPLAUSE]Tony: The Blackjack Bonus is out of play for you, James... but you do have a total of 20. Before I read the next question, you have a decision. Do you want to continue the round or freeze?

Freeze!

Post by tmann3x on Jul 24, 2016 19:55:57 GMT -5
Jennifer will now place the freeze marker on James's 20. Matt... there are no ties in Gambit. The only way to win this round is to get a 21. An Ace will earn you the $15,000 Blackjack Bonus. You must answer each and every question right to stay in this round. If at any event that your answer is incorrect, James will win round 1 and $500. Here comes your next question. The Geneva Convention, The Warsaw Pact, or The Treaty of Versailles-- What is the peace treaty ending the First World War known as?
