(fade to Greg at lectern) Greg: Well, we have another death to report. Reg Grundy, the man whose logo you see at the end of each show, has died at the age of 92. Reg once compared selling game shows to the United States and keeping the rights to “selling ice to the Eskimos then selling them fridges so they have to keep the ice supply going”. He was a pioneer in both Australian and American television. $ale was one of the first successful daytime game shows to be produced by an international company. He is survived by his second wife of 45 years, actress Joy Chambers. I had an opportunity to speak to Reg before this show debuted. Tony Barber warned me I'd have a rough time with him, but I think Reg mellowed out in his old age. You'll be missed, Reg. I don't know by whom, but you will be missed. (the logo rotates in the usual way) Burton: (VO) Sale of the Century is a Reg Grundy Production.
