It's been a long long while, but Pay Cards is back with a new episode.
In episode #1, Darion Daniel won $1,300. Unfortunately in the end game, he got skunked by the dreaded "Stop" card.
Complete rules for "Pay Cards" can be found in the Announcements section of our boards.
One rule change, to make the end game last a bit longer, make it a bit more suspenseful, and to give the day's winner a chance to win some dough, the "STOP" card will initially not appear on the board, but will be placed on the board randomly (using random.org) after the first 7 picks are made.
Matt Ringgenberg participated in the first episode last year, so I will request a new challenger for Darion, assuming of course Darion wants to play again.
Best,
Bill

www.televisiontunes.com/Headline_Chasers.htmlScott Shannon: You're Aces with everybody when you join us to play Television's first card game... Scott Shannon: From the Art James Studio at MetroMedia Studios New York...It's Pay Cards!!! (applause) Scott Shannon: And to see that everybody gets a fair deal, here's Bill McDee! (applause) That's me, yours truly! Greetings and welcome once again to another fun-filled episode of luck, intuition, strategy and hopefully big big payoffs. Over $50,000 in cash is just waiting to be had here today. On our last program, we crowned our first champion. He ran into a bit of bad luck in our end game, but he's back for redemption. Returning with a one day cash total of $1,300, it's Darion Daniel! (applause) Darion, when we were last together, so very long ago, were you in the process of writing a book?

Then we shall not, if you'll pardon the pun, tip your hand. Best wishes with that top secret project Darion, and continued best wishes to you here on Pay Cards.
We have a newcomer with us, a nice warm welcome for James Greek!
(applause)
James, you are from Alabama if my spies tell me correctly. Born and raised there?

So you've moved around quite a bit down there. Glad you temporarily moved up here to be with us to play our little game. We'll see what kind of moves both James and Darion makes, when we return with our first of two Strategy rounds, right after this!

Thanks for sticking with us friends. Time to play our first of two rounds called "Strategy" Have a look at the gameboard players... 16 numbered cards, and in a moment, we will reveal three of them at random. Two sets of 4 of a Kind are on that board. 1 set of 3 of a kind is as well as 2 sets of pairs and one card which is orphaned and a "dud". Here's what we pay for each Strategy hand: $50 for a pair, $125 for three of a kind, $250 for a full house, and the best possible hand in these first 2 rounds of play is 4 of a kind, and that pays a whopping $500. Furthermore, the player who has the better hand will receive a high hand bonus of $100, and that's important, because any money you score is yours to keep regardless of the outcome of the game, but the one of you who has the higher money total will go on to play our new and hopefully improved Royal Flush end game, which can be worth as much as $50,000 in cash! (applause & ooohs & ahhhs).... We begin each strategy hand by revealing three cards.... Number 1 has... The Jack of Spades, and number 7 has... The 5 of Clubs, and finally, number 16 has... The 9 of Diamonds. We're looking for pairs, three of a kind, full houses and four of a kind if possible players, we do not deal in straights or flushes during the main game, so do keep that in mind... The returning champion is Darion, so he gets to go first in this round. James, you will go first during our second Strategy Round. Darion, please select two more cards at this time. After that, I will ask you to select two of the five cards that are face up to start building your hand.

The Woolworth's cards... Number 5... Happens to BE a 5, the 5 of Hearts in fact. And number 10... The Queen of Clubs. Although I think I know, I must ask you Darion, which of these 2 cards do you wish to use to begin to build your hand?

Very well, Darion you have 2 pairs right now, and we go back to James to select 2 more numbers.
The numbers still available are 2, 3, 9, 11, 12, 14 and 15 James, so please select 2 of those numbers and we'll see what cards are behind them.

Hmm, curiouser and curiouser... Each player has a pair of queens, Darion, you also have a pair of 5s while James has a 6 and a 9 in his hand. For this final turn players, each of you will uncover only one card, and then select one of the four turned up cards to fill your hand. Darion, you could achieve a full house here if you turn up another 5. There may be another on the board, then again, maybe not. If so, you will win the high hand bonus. 9, 11, 12, 14 or 15, which one do you want now Darion?

And number 9 has... The 5 of Diamonds! (applause) And that gives you a Full House Darion. James, your last turn, select one more card please.
