What can I say? I can't stay away from those dice. Yahtzee Produced by: Hasbro Studios/United Artists Media Group/MGM Television Host: Greg Palmer Announcer: Burton Richardson Taped at: CBS Television City, Hollywood, CA Two players (a returning champion and a challenger) compete against each other in a game show version of the classic dice game. The object of the game is to get the most money by completing their game card. Round 1: The host asks a tossup question. The player who buzzes in first (via a buzzcode from 1-100) and answers correctly gets control of the dice. An incorrect answer passes control to their opponent. The player in control starts with one starting roll and one reroll. After the reroll, the player can either bank their score by selecting a category or try for an additional reroll by answering another question. However, an incorrect answer opens it up to the other player with a chance to steal control with a correct answer. If neither player answers correctly, a new tossup is asked and the roll is considered dead. After the second reroll, the dice must be banked and a new tossup is asked. Each category in the Upper Section may only be scored once by each player. After five "turns", round one ends. Additional Yahtzees: If a player claims the Yahtzee category and then rolls another Yahtzee later in the game, they get an additional $10,000 added to their score and can use that Yahtzee to fill in any of their other categories. Round 2: The dollar values are doubled. After five "turns", Round 2 ends. The player with the highest cash total at the end of Round 2 wins the game and the money, and plays the bonus round. Only the winner gets to keep the money. The runner up gets a prize package. Complete Section: If any player fills all seven categories (including a Yahtzee), then they win a luxurious trip. Bonus Round: The winning player faces the word YAHTZEE. Under each letter is one of three dollar amounts: Amount Letters hiding this amount $25,000 4 $50,000 2 $100,000 1 In the bonus round, the champion is given one free roll and can earn as many as four more by answering four questions. Each correct answer is worth a roll. After finishing the question portion of the round, the champ then rolls the number of rolls earned. If player rolled a Yahtzee before running out of rolls, the player wins the pre-selected money mount; but if a Yahtzee is made on the first roll, the player wins an additional $250,000. If a Yahtzee is not made, $2,500 is awarded for every die used toward a Yahtzee for a maximum of $10,000 (example: if four rolls were earned, two 2's were rolled as well as a 1, a 5 and a 6, and one more 2 came up on the last of the three succeeding rolls, the player earned $7,500). Before the first roll, the player is asked for their "Lucky Number" (1-6). If they make a Yahtzee in that number, they also win a new car with $10,000 loaded in the trunk. Champs: Champs may stay until they win five games or are defeated. So, who wants to play?

Then let's go!
(Outside Studio 31 at CBS Television City, Greg Palmer and Peter Marshall are giving last words to each other.) Peter: Well, Greg, I want to wish you all the luck in the world. I hope you can take this show farther than I did.Greg: Well thank you, Peter. I think I will. Peter: Well, you certainly sound sure of yourself. Why do you say that?Greg: Well, mostly because I'm not dealing with celebrities. You see, almost every show you did after Squares involved celebrities. (I exit while Peter stands there, considering this) [THEME](outside shot of Television City) Burton Richardson: (VO) From Television City in Hollywood.....
Great shakes, it's YAHTZEE!
(the die zooms back to reveal other dice rolling away)
Today, one of these two players could win over $250,000 in cash and this brand new 2016 Ford Mustang!
And now, here's the host of Yahtzee...... GREG PALMER!
(I walk out to cheers and applause) Greg: Thank you, Burton! Thank you, everyone, and welcome to Yahtzee. It's the dice game you've played all your life, but never quite like this. And since this is a dice game, we need a dice girl. And over on the dice, we have "Lucky" Leyla Milani! (Leyla walks out to cheers and applause) Greg: Hi, Leyla. Leyla: Hi, Greg.Greg: Oooh, I feel like Howie Mandel. Now, we can't play the game without two players, so let's meet them. First off, we have Matt Ringgenberg from Council Bluffs, Iowa. Hiya, Matt. Please tell us about yourself.

OK, then let's get started. (I walk over to my lectern) Now, we'll start each of you off by giving you the Lower Section of a standard Yahtzee game card. (blip)
[ROLLS LEFT:] [5][4][3][2][1]
[MATT] [BILLY] [$ ] [$ ]
[3 of a Kind] [3 of a Kind] [4 of a Kind] [4 of a Kind] [Full House] [Full House] [Small Straight] [Small Straight] [Large Straight] [Large Straight] [Yahtzee] [Yahtzee] [Chance] [Chance]
Now, the object of the game is to get as much money as possible by using these five dice to make combinations to clear off your board. Each round has five rolls. You earn control by answering questions. Buzz in first and give me a right answer, you get control. Give me a wrong answer, and your opponent gets it. I'll explain the game as we go along. If everyone's ready, let's play Yahtzee!(audience cheers) First question: Now, Ryan Seacrest is the current host of American Top 40, but who was the original host when it launched in 1970?(buzzcode from 1-100 and an answer, please)

(buzzcode: 81) *Matt buzzes in (56)*Matt? Matt: Casey Kasem(ding)That is right! (audience cheers) All right, Matt. Now here's how it works. Lucky Leyla here is going to roll the dice. What you want to do is get a combination of dice that can clear one of the categories on your board. Each one is worth money, and I'll explain it as we go along. Layla, roll those dice! (audience cheers as Layla shakes the bowl and rolls those dice) (dice roll)(audience cheers) Hey, that's pretty good! A 3, a 2, a 4, a 5, and another 3. You've got yourself a small straight. Here's what the paytable looks like for Round 1. [3 OF A KIND] [Total x $100] [4 OF A KIND] [Total x $100] [FULL HOUSE] [$2,500] [SMALL STRAIGHT] [$3,000] [LARGE STRAIGHT] [$4,000] [YAHTZEE] [$5,000] [+ Additional] [$10,000] [CHANCE] [Total x $100]
A small straight is worth $3,000 in this first round. Now, you can either take that Small Straight, or you can save any of those dice and roll again to try and get a better combination. What do you want to do? (audience shouts suggestions)

Now, if either one of you is able to completely clear your board by getting all seven categories, you'll win this great vacation. And Burton Richardson will be telling you where you'll be going. Burton? [THEME]Burton: (VO) It's an exciting trip to Bangkok!
You and a guest will fly round-trip from Los Angeles to Bangkok, Thailand for a stay at the Shangri-La Hotel, Bangkok, a city resort in the heart of Bangkok offering guests a magnificent tropical garden and pool area on the banks of the Chao Phraya River. (Leyla sets aside the dice making up the Small Straight and picks up the extra four) (audience cheers) Looks like the audience agrees with you. Leyla, roll that four, please! (she does)(audience cheers loudly) And there's your Large Straight! (audience cheers) I assume you want to keep that. But, if you should change your mind, I'll give you an opportunity to roll again by answering a question. If you're right, you get another roll. If you're wrong, Matt has a chance to steal. If both of you are wrong, the roll is considered dead. What do you want to do?
